You should be able to. People have run MLN stores from their bolgs and they haven't run into any trouble.

Sure, blog approvals can be as ridiculous as you want, as long as they're not innapropriate, huge, etc.

Though, if one is huge you can always resize the picture itself, I had to do that with some of the approvals I had received.

Does the rule prohibiting "unusual" characters in member names apply to blog names as well?

Wanted to use "Æ" rather than "Ae", since it looks less silly.

I wouldn't think so -- the rule applies to names because it would be difficult for somebody to find you or PM you on the forums, and regardless of the actual blog name you could find the blog using the "Find Blog by Member Name" feature.

People have had MLN shops in their blogs before and they were allowed. I don't think a regular shop would be any different.

It's totally allowed. I asked once about it, and the bloggies said that I could. I opened a small emoticon shop soon after.
