  1. TMD, that dial usually reads kRPM, for kilorevolutions per minute.

Always Always ALWAYS keep the installation discs/product keys for software you buy on the student discount, and always buy as much as you can the semester before you graduate.

Once you own the software, it doesn't matter how much you paid for it: it's still yours to use after you're done & gone.

Believe you me, I still rue the days I ignored the deals I saw at the bookstore @ McNeese. And they don't let you buy the software there if your student ID is expired. [read: you're not enrolled there anymore.]

  2. Yeah, that's what I'm taking away from it, <dd>: I can now recognize when I'm being played, and can thus make a clear decision if I want to play along.

By the same token, I know the rudiments of taking someone else on that same ride, but like I said, I'm not the kind of person to actually do that.

  3. Nope, never had a code Black, or Blue, or Red or Brown or White, or even Adam for that matter, while I was working at store 521.

Although I know code Blacks were enacted at just about every Walmart less than 50 miles north of I-10/I-12 in 2005 for hurricanes Katrina & Rita, but that was the "no one is caught by surprise" type.

  4. Easy question.

The one I have now (not here at work) is 5 years old, has less than half the processor power this one will have, a quarter of the memory, and onboard audio and video. "Antiquated" is putting it mildly.

What's more, the graphics driver is finicky, and I've had to hard-reboot it (pulling the plug and turning back on 30 seconds later, very bad for the computer) three times since I got back Sunday evening. I have the new driver on the desktop of my computer, but it won't install.

And to top it off, if I'm going to build a computer worthy of your awesomeness like you asked, I need to know how to build one. Thus, I am experimenting with mine.
