  1. I honestly don't know how to feel about Prime Optimus. I mean, WFC/FOC/Prime Optimus are supposed to be the same guy, but that doesn't add up. WFC/FOC prime got stuff done. Prime Optimus always seemed like a pushover to me... It's not that I don't like him, he just always seemed like he was unfit for his position, but it could be that he's more reserved than the others.  But Bayverse prime just seems like they didn't know how to characterize him. He seems to be vastly differant in each movie.

  2. Lets be honest here. The Bayverse prime is not the best prime we've gotten. But to be fair the characterization was more focused on the humans and look where that went, so it's not surprising. I mean he actually said the words: "Give me your face". Technically, Sam Killed Megatron in the first movie, And revived prime in ROTF. So technically Optimus has saved the world three times. One of which wouldn't have been possible without a human.

If we want to point to a good Optimus, we can look to Animated Optimus. That, in my humble opinion, is what a good Optimus should be.

But, seriously,  we need to put the guys who did animated on the live action movies. That would be fun to see.

  3. I'm at the level that I can build almost without instructions. If it's a big set then well, trial and error/

Pretty sure the target audience doesn't want a puzzle that can literally be assembled any number of ways but have one way be the correct way. Heck I don't even want that. And as has been said many times before, The HF building system isn't really less complicated than the non-HF one. It just uses a different system. One that is fun and easy to build off of I might add. Not that bionicle had it wrong, but using ball joints opens up some nice building styles that bionicle didn't use.

  4.

Why would several high ranking military officials send THE CUBE to the middle of Mission City with the very real risk of civilian casualties instead of the hundreds of miles of desert around Nevada? They know the Decepticons can track it. Sending your McGuffin Du Jours into a crowd of citizens to hit up the nearest Radio Shack for shortwaves while in pursuit of deadly alien terrorists is so bizarrely pre-911 it's a mess. And what makes it worse is the established military personnel with first contact experience and generally decent military strategy and wherewithal as EXCITEDLY agreeing to go into the city.

I mean we all overlook that because the fight scene looked so cool but realistically it took B.O.T. levels of stupidity to make that entire scene happen.

Let's just acknowledge that, no matter what continuity you look at, it requires a lot of dumb things to make the cool interesting stuff happen and that if you're going to spend all your time trying to figure out which continuity has the higher levels of dumb we are going to be here for a very long time.

Now, I'm no military strategist, but neither are you.

    1. Like you said, they did it for the radios. They knew (and repeatedly stated) they had no chance against the Decepticons without proper air support.

    2. A bad decision made by a character is not a plot hole, it is simply a bad decision.

    3. It might not have been a bad decision after all, as the alternative would be to go into the desert, get chased there instead, and fight the Decepticons without air support. Then they'd lose the battle, the 'Cons would get the Cube, and well you get the idea.

You don't have to be a military strategist to know fighting a battle in a highly populated area is a big fat NO. And generally, when a character makes a mistake or poor decision it's easy to tell by the way it's presented. This wasn't presented like a mistake. Keep in mind that in almost any other continuity, the autobots goal is to preserve life at virtually any cost.

  5. Despite what people say, the movie continuity can be very easily sorted out.

G1 on the other hand is such a plot mess you can't make sense out of it no matter what you do. Ever.

I'm pretty sure you've attempted to prove that, but you only managed to win that argument because you refused to admit there was anything wrong with them.

  6. You know what confuses me the most in the G1 series?

In 1984, Megatron built the Consturticons to bolstered the Decepticons forces on Earth. According to Omega Supreme, the Constructicons had already existed (before the Autobot crew left Cybertron) and Megatron reprogrammed them in Decepticons. But when Rodimus Prime entered the Matrix of Leadership, he discovered that the Constructicons (all 8 of them) built Megatron.

    Like whut?

I suppose you could argue they where all different sets of constructicons... But that one Omega Supreme episode makes that nearly impossible.

There's also the part where the Transformers where either built by Quintessons or Made by Primus. And the whole size changing thing. And I remember a part of the show where Shockwave was holding a tiny version of his gun mode.

Welcome to Generation 1. Enjoy your stay.

  7. I believe something like that needs to be approved. Unless you mean having a thread discussing roleplaying taking place on twitter. I don't think there's any rules against it. I'm honestly not sure how discussing roleplaying on social media would go, it seems like just by it's nature it wouldn't be terribly productive to discuss it here.

  8.

You heard it here, folks! All further inquiries can be filed under "DAUAG". :P

In all seriousness, this would be cool and very humorous form for "official" confirmation to take, but it'd be great if you could find a link to the quote for reference. Of course, it's possible that even if this is the gist of his message, he would have caught his mistake and edited his post...

Does Anyone U Ask Greg?

Screencapped for posterity, in case he catches his mistake and edits his post. This is amazing.

I don't get it. He says that he knows about all of the 2015 lines, then he responds to the hypothetical. Basically he's saying that if Bionicle was in the pipe, he would know about it and want to work on it. You guys are reading too much into this.

I agree, I read it as him saying that he only knows about 2015 and that he can't discuss it. I mean, I doubt Lego has themes planned much past a year and a half away anyway, but I could be wrong... Someone want to confirm or deny my less than solid assumption?

  9. I honestly can't believe how some people can like AoE. It was kind of an insult to the rest of the movie franchise and the rest of the Transformers franchise as well.

It had something akin to a continuitive story and was referencing some pretty well liked TF material. It's certainly not what I would consider a great movie, but it's going somewhere. That's more than the other movies had. You could just end it after any one of those three and not have much of any unfinished plot. That's not really a good thing for a trilogy.

And as for saying it's an insult to the rest of the TF brand... Have you watched the G1 cartoon? It's basically a glorified commercial. Yes it's got some cool stuff in it, but it's not great. In fact, it seems to be recently where the media is more than just commercials (in disguise). But I think most people say that the Bayverse in general is an insult to the TF brand. Which may or may not be true.

At the risk of sounding like someone who believes they were born in the wrong generation AoE on its own was just terrible. They don't even call them the Dinobots nor do they name them. They don't speak, they show up way too late and feel like a Deus Ex Machina and steeds rather than soldiers on their own.

But wasn't that kind of the point? It appears that most of this movie was setting up the plot for the next two. They weren't in there much but it's established that they're now a thing and a very important thing at that. It's not like the Jetfire thing where Optimus just got some armor because of cool factor. They, like, have some significance to do with what is going to happen.

And they have been named. Plus they're Dinosaur robots. Doesn't get much more self explanatory than that. Anyone who knows anything about TF knows this already, anyone who doesn't likely won't know the significance.

Galvatron looks generic and could be a regular goon. The conflict between Bee and Stinger could have been a lot better but since all of the generic robots look like him you can't even tell if Stinger died yet until the short scene where Bee says he hates knock offs.

Galvatron appears to take design cues from his RID form. And since he was basically Nemisis Prime It's not surprising that he looks the way he does. Not my favorite Galvatron, but whatever. I'll give you the Bee and stinger one. But it wasn't inherantly important either.

Optimus' new look makes him look like he has a very gifted chest area and his new attitude makes him act like an angsty teenager.

I'm gonna say that that's pushing it a little. I'm guessing he's supposed to look like a knight. But I'm not sure how well they accomplished that.

And he's kind of ticked. I mean, the humans are trying to kill him. That kind of sucks. I'd be a bit more shocked if he was okay with that...

The movie drags on and when the Dinobots were rampaging through the city I was already tired and worn out from the last two hours.

This is what happens when you have to set up a plot while working on top of movies that don't have much of one. And it's not like half of the movie could have been cut out with little to no consequence like the last two. I didn't notice a whole lot of time dedicated to just human stuff either.

Don't watch it, watch 22 Jump Street or Edge of Tomorrow instead.

Edge of tomorrow could be interesting. There is nothing that makes me want to see 22 Jump st.

  10. The second part sounds fine, but I'm not sure you can make a topic like that. I'm pretty sure you can't make a topic for requests like that, but members link to music they've made, so I see no problem with that.

  11.

Well I just hit OBZPC. I have prremiership for life. It would be cool to be some form of staff, but I don't see that happening.

Hitting something like 10,000 posts would be wonderful. But As long as I've been here and my current post count leads me to believe that that is a big fat NO.

So... Hm... I got nothing at the moment.

On second thought.... I would greatly enjoy a custom member title...

Go to the RPG forum. Obtain massive numbers of posts like me.

Do you have any idea how bad that would be?

Though I might give it a second shot. It's been awhile. I just feel incredibly ignored when I tried to start last time...

  13. To be honest, quality themes kinda stopped being produced once bionicle ended. Ninjago, Chima, and Hero Factory (meh) are incredibly popular, but they really can't be compared to themes like knights kingdom (either series), rock raiders, exo-force, alpha team, or some of the classic cowboy, pirates, and space sets. To be honest, even the themes I didn't really like from the bionicle era (i.e. Mars mission, agents, vikings, and power miners) would be preferable to the themes lego has going right now. The only themes I really follow now are the licensed ones, and even those sets just seem to be getting worse. I thinks its because lego made a shift in general set design back in 2009. All the sets started having improved detail work done on them making the sets look cleaner, but the size of the sets shrunk and the prices rose to compensate for more detail pieces and more new molds. Call me nostalgic, but I preferred lego before they went on a detailing/inflation frenzy. Hero Factory is just a reflection of lego's new spin on the entire system, and frankly I'm not impressed. Gone is the originality and flair that the previous decades sets possessed. Gone is the clever stories and quality character development that previous themes with stories possessed. I consider myself lucky to have been able to experience some quality lego sets, and I pity those who will never know the joys of the previous decades sets. It is rare to find a set now that possesses the qualities that many older sets did, and it saddens me to see how far lego has fallen in just a few short years time.

Oh boy. I'm going to say you've fallen ill with a bad case of nostalgia. Something TF fans suffer from and call GEEWUN. (The beliefe that nothing will ever match what G1 was. Even though we have Animated.)

See, the HF sets have more pieces (I do believe) Than the original toa, and have some really nice designs and pose-ability And it's not really a "Spin" on anything. It's designs are much different than anything Lego has done before. And to say that Lego has no originality or flair is harsh and not really true. We've already discussed several times over that Bionicle isn't really known for quality characters on this site. And honestly, it's been so long that I can't refute that statement much.

What "qualities" are you referring to exactly? Really, I say there's been little more than improvement in general set design. Maybe it's moved in a differant direction, but I can't say that's a bad thing. Besides, there are some fantastic designs in newer sets. To name a few:

Iron man 3's boat set has actual working flick missiles.

Hero factory has a new Ball joint based design that simply caters to a differant style of building. Not lack thereof.

Hm. I thought I had more. But I guess I haven't bought many either. But not for lack of quality.

  14. I made my opinion about Teridax being one of the best and greatest fictional villains ever because when I saw him doing his evil and villainous deeds, I feel like that I can see his potential of being one. I can see something extraoriginary about him, something that no other Lego villain, except Lord Business and possibly Von Nebula, had ever accomplished or achieved before. So, I took a deep thought about comparing him to other villains, who I listed in my start post. That is why I made this topic, to talk about it to you guys to see if you feel the same way as I do or not, but either way, you are feel to tell your feelings and opinions about it. :)

Anyway, back on topic here. I agree with you guys about Lord Business, Zuko, Orochimaru, and Unicron being comparable to Teridax in some ways. I would also like to think that Teridax is also like Hades from Disney and Rai's al Gul from the DC Comics in some ways, such as using people, creating armies, threatening people, and wanting to take down heroes in a hard-to-foil way. :)

I think that Teridax could be able to be called "the best and the greatest fictional villains ever" in a top any-number-of villains list made by officials or whatever, but I am just saying my own opinion. :) I'm not sure that if this is allowed, but I am just saying my feelings about Teridax.

Of course it's allowed. we're merely discussing our opinions. Which seem mostly contrary.
