  1. This would be a great time to introduce something new to the site to see if people like it and if they don't just "yoink" that was the plan all along.

So that's my theory. But the box seems awfully large... And I guess software isn't really distributed like that anymore... so.... Yeah. I got nothing.

  2.

I heart both companies. Creativity and innovation FTW.

Apple patented the ability to turn a page on an Ereader. And a rectangle with round corners.

Lego patented It's HF building system.

Basically, as far as I see it, Lego and apple are as far away from each other as it can get.

They did not...*looks at all of the Samsung and HTC phones with round corners, and Kindle E-Readers that turn pages*

Also, given all of the Lego apps (and other creative apps) for iPhone/iPad etc, both companies encourage creativity and innovation in their developers and end users. That's a win-win-win in my book.

If they innovate, why are their screens as sturdy as tin foil?(an issue that's been around since the first Ipod touch, I believe.) Seems like that's something that should have been fixed a while ago. And the fact that most apps are tied to apple devices (Or at least the ones I want) is absolutely frustrating, as well as having some music only available on Itunes.

This type of thing is incredibly unhelpful to innovation. as it encourages companies to patent things and then sit on them for ages and rake in money while stopping anyone else from making any improvements to it. Which is how the system generally works. you don't look at a rock and see a bow and arrow. you see something that can be made into a crude blade, than tied to a stick to make a spear, then shot with tension to make a bow. If somebody patents the crude blade, the process is halted. It's not really Apples fault, they just exploit it to no end. Which is why I don't really like them.

It basically boils down to the patent/copyright system being broken. I really don't think you should be able to patent a shape, or how you open an app on a smartphone or how you unlock a smartphone, or how app icons are displayed on a smartphone or.... Anyway, I don't think Lego and Apple are very much alike.

  3. Spoiler maybe??

Grimlock's toy transforms, and it looks fairly detailed. It wouldn't surprise me if it didn't, dumber things have happened, but that would lead me to believe he transforms in the film, along with the other Dinobots. He'll talk if only because broken english is just too tempting a fruit for Michael Bay and his writing dept. to not to bite.

This. Everyone hates transformers that don't transform.

And I don't think that really needs a spoiler tag since it's just speculation, but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry.

  4. I was always very frustrated by Karzahni, the dread torturer and ruler of a dismal, desolate realm, being reduced to a gibbering vegetable. It was a pretty awesome moment for Makuta, but the effects on Karzahni didn't sit well with me.

Of course, that's just a minor issue next to the shamelessly skewed gender ratio of characters. And don't try to tell me, "Oh, but BIONICLE was marketed to boys, they wouldn't want girl characters" -- if boys don't want girl characters, that is strictly their problem. And no, you can't "make up for it" by having all of your female characters be "strong female characters". The only way to adequately treat the gender of characters is to treat it like it's no big deal. Have strong female characters and weak female characters, and anywhere in-between; the point is to have realistic female characters, so that your audience can understand that girls are people too.

Actually, that's generally how it works. It's unfortunate at times, I'll admit, but it's not really lego's fault. You see the same trend nearly everywhere. It's the reason Arcee never got a figure on her debut in the original Transformers movie, and the reason we still don't have one today. But Lego is a company that sells products, and therefore has to do things like this. So if this is going to change, than we need to change how kids are raised and view people, not how companies portray them. That part comes later. It's easy to just point out what lego's doing wrong, but that's more of a symptom of a greater problem, rather than the actual problem.

Besides, Lego Friends has the exact opposite problem. And I've seen quite a lot of praise for that line.

More on topic: I still feel the ending was kinda mehish.

  5.

I'm not against having it up for download, but that doesn't mean it's legal. (I believe I still have a copy of it somewhere.) And unfortunately, the way copyright law is, it's not about someone losing something. And unless I'm mistaken, providing a ROM of a game is very much illegal.

Yeah, regardless of it's status as abandonware, it'll still be illegal, but I see nothing morally wrong with it. Technically speaking, it's illegal to download ROMs/ISOs of games you DO own legitimate copies of (you are supposed to make your own backups), but with the exceptions of Wii/Gamecube/PS2 games, it's just more convenient to download them (unless you don't mind the multi-hour download times some of the bigger games offer). And I believe that emulators are technically illegal if they include any part of the original system bios.

Does the BMP host the ISO of the unfinished BIONICLE 2 game? Isn't that a similar field? I'm sure that's illegal too.

Unfortunately "legal" and "morally wrong" aren't synonymous though... Knowing Lego, though, I don't think it's terribly risky, they seem to not care about stuff like that.

  6. You can actually get these games pre-owned at Gamestop pretty cheap here in the US. I dont know if you live in the US but on their website, it states that Bionicle Heroes for the DS is about 4.99 USD while the Xbox 360 version of Bionicle Heroes is only 2.99 USD. As for Maze of Shadows, it is listed as 6.99 USD on the Gamestop website for the Gameboy Advance. Sadly they dont appear to be available online, so going to the nearest Gamestop in your area can help you get your hands on these copies of Bionicle Heroes.

If you would like to buy online however you could possibly check eBay where im sure you'll find a great deal. However, I hope some members of BZP might be able to fulfill your needs. :D

If you want I can PM you a link to the Gamestop listings but im sure they are pretty easy to find and sorry if you dont live in the US and have no idea what Gamestop even is. Im sorry if I also possibly just wasted your time. :P

The only problem with that is that I haven't been seeing them at gamestop recently. And amazon is still a bit pricey for what I can pay now. I could see about checking tomorrow though... And I don't believe they stock GBA games anymore. But there's apparently a version of tHeroes for GBA as well...

  7. I'm looking to obtain The DS and Xbox360 Versions of Bionicle Heroes and a copy of Maze of Shadows.

Also, if you have a copy of Metroid Prime: Hunters you want to get rid of I might be interested in that.

I'm not looking to pay a lot, but I hope to give you a fair deal. And I would prefer to just buy them.

  8. I watched about half of that.

Heaven forbid you have to, you know, think outside the box to use the pieces effectively.

What he's saying is actually quite contradictive. He's saying that because it's easy to use bricks to build something it stimulates creativity, which is true. But then he goes on to say that because he doesn't know how use the pieces they aren't stimulitive of creativity. Which us basicly what I said in my previous post. They obviously have differant purposes, but they apperantly can't fathom lego making something other than bricks even though they started out making toy cars and other sorts of things. So this video is just infuriatingly bad

  9. I always thought System was for building towers, and Bionicle was for making monsters to attack those towers and smash them to bits.

This is obviously the right answer.

On topic: Never heard of it. It sounds like a terrible argument though. The same argument could be applied to the minifigures packages.

It's like saying a sword is bad because you can't shoot someone with it, the argument makes no sense.

  10. At the high school I graduated from someone claimed to see someone with a firearm near the campus. (So it was probably legal assuming it actually happened.) So they called in 20 something cop cars and locked the school down and searched every backpack and locker and kept everyone in the auditorium until well after the end of the day. I was at my college campus when I heard about this and had a reaction somewhere between fury and mild amusement. My sister was less than amused that she was locked in there for several hours.

I feel the need to clarify that none of this is slightly exaggerated for affect.

  11. It's used to make text look different than it usually would. It's why my text is purple here. If you click the light switch while creating or editing a post you can see the code your post has in it.

I'm pretty sure your blog has pictures in it, so you probably know how to use it.

  12. I don't care what anyone says, Pohatu and Photok Phantoka and Gali mistika are Awesome. Pohatu has stabby-spinny propeler hands and it's just awesome.

Skarll is also one of my favorites. He takes cues from the Inika build and switches it around a bit and makes the lankiness look awesome.

And the 50th anniversary (I think?) Toa hagah have some nice colors and cool looking armor.
