  1. BZPower: You have for years been a place of entertainment and fun, a place for debate and laughter on my favorite "theme" from Lego. Thank you for being available to everyone and helping make the Bionicle community stronger and closer knit! Keep chugging along! ~Kughii
  2. OOC: I'm horribly sorry for not posting ages ago. IC: Ishi Polzin The long trek from the Vault of Mangaia and the Abettor’s Cave to the sinister scientist’s metal icebox in Ko-Wahi took a considerable amount of time. Ishi’s captors, for lack of a better word, traveled on foot through the Drifts, their feet beating a rhythmic crunch. The Hapaka wiled away the hours recalling information, running over details, and fleshing out hypotheses. His mind focused on a single overarching question with tendrils of connections branching out into the far reaches of his diverse fields of knowledge: who was Ahkmou? From the outset Ishi knew he’d picked a lie with insufficient information on the surface. His only first hand experience came from a brief encounter long ago during a trip to Po-Koro with Alarick Polzin, while Ahkmou was still a member of the Cultured Gentry and not an outcast expelled from the city walls, and from the words Ahkmou wrote in his coded journal. He couldn’t remember Ahkmou’s accent, which Echelon had made a key point of using to destroy the paper-thin facade Ishi'd pulled in Mangaia to buy minutes and seconds of life. But now he'd had hours. “Echelon,” Ishi said as his eyes finally grew accustomed to the light reflecting across the barest of metal walls. “You brought me this far for a test and I’m sure your companions are more than ready to see me exposed as a traitor. Why don’t we get whatever you have planned over with so my identity is no longer questioned. I have things to share, things you all need to hear."
  3. Hubert, I love how you made a joke about fearing one's post count to someone who has a higher post count than you do (Ghosthands). I think that spy has been lurking and getting the jump on us. Welcome back Onarax, if you want any additional help please PM me, but also check out the new topic Nuju made for Beginners b.c there's a gorgeous timeline of events.
  4. In my RP characters I usually come at constructing them from the approach of pinning one or two traits together that I want to study and experiment with (i.e. Hubris and Wisdom in the case of Ishi.) I tend to take a DND/literary/longest possible list of questions approach to constructing characters, as well as sitting down and spending far too much time letting them roam around in the world of words outside the RPG. Before I plop a character down into the game I always try to know some mannerisms, speech patterns, etc. of that character. Are they racist or welcoming of all cultures? Are they proud and ignorant, or shy but brilliant? Do they enjoy contact with others or time alone? After I answer some of those questions, and a whole lot more, I begin kindly jamming their little minds with things I want them to say and see if it feels right or not. In the case of Ishi Polzin, I have absolutely nothing in common with the character save a love of learning. As for Koga, he's just one of those typical power hungry elites, with far less compassion for people than I have personally. I guess what I'm getting at is I always try to give a character time to develop into something other than myself, or a facet of myself, before I toss them into play. Naturally, some personality traits or quirks (such as Ishi constantly flipping a coin or rolling a die), come through from my real life, those little meta moments. Adding our personal life experience helps a constructed character feel a little more, well, real, in my opinion.
  5. IC: Krios Sometimes it is best to vacant a place of insanity, move along the road of life, and find a berth far more suited to the occupation of conning money from drunkards pockets. Yes I went to an inn, one of the more profitable establishments with a quirky ko-matoran, all of them were quirky, and proceeded to slide my superior vortixx way into a stool. A tap on the bar brought me a drink, spiced wine to cut the outside chill from my bones, and with the handle of a cup nursed between my hands I gave a glance to the other occupants. Yes, he seemed easy. "Evening," I said to the drinker two empty stools away. "Look like you've had a troubled time in the Drifts. How about I buy you a drink?" OOC: Vox, go for it.
  6. IC: Daikura Koga Already Koga was becoming inured to the military life. The sweaty smell of women rushing about their jobs with rigid precision in the upper decks and the engine room. He had done his best to not wrinkle his nose and shy away from the saihoko, a class of being he'd never seen, much less smelled during an average work morning. He knew they were important and likely had some regimented time for bathing, but he couldn't help feel slighted by being pressed amongst them. Daikura was a prominent minor clan and such an insult on the mainland would be met with drastic consequences. His soulsword had nearly flare to knife several of the sailors who'd bumped into him, until the words of Commodore Ayiwah counseled him against such course: his clan rank did not matter inside the Chisai Ryuu. "I'll take this one," Koga said innocently as he approached what seemed one of the larger, albeit by a few hairs of a faction, of the berths. "Have the 'Hokos bring my things." Maybe he wasn't as ready for military life as he'd thought. OOC: Gotta' play those royals right. WOOT WOOT
  7. Oh look, a staff contest... *Cracks knuckles* I want to apologize to anyone waiting on interaction from either of my two PCs. I'm currently having a real RPGitis-Crisis, that is to say I basically have little to know interest ATM while reading the new DND NEXT rules and furiously writing a novel on insane deadlines which may or may not result in chronic mental health disorders and/or physical disabilities/liabilities. Hopefully I'll retain enough sanity to remember this is a fun game and worthy of attention (because the BZPRPG is the best RPG I've ever seen), especially since all these cool Staff plot thingies are getting dropped! Also, if anyone has been wondering what happened to the MNW: life happened and all the reporters seem to be on glorious holiday, including myself (although my holiday is apparently equivalent to fingers madly gripped around a ballpoint pen squeezing its inky little life out for spare adjectives and verbs). Happy playing everyone! I'm glad to see people are sticking to this game during their holidays and vacations and that staff are getting prepped for surging forward the general plot arc.
  8. Pleased to see the updates to the game.
  9. Nothing like a juicy goody from staff to get us interested.
  10. The Massif has a temple, well okay a sanctum, and the Kinis themselves are religious centers. Aside from that just go wild I guess. XD
  11. IC: Daikura Koga The first son of the Daikura Clan stood with his hands clasped softly behind his back. He stood on one of the many dry-dock bridges near the submarine, letting the morning smell of fish and the cry of gulls crash over his senses. His tongue was salty from the air. The Chisai Ryuu looked like a beached razor whale, magnificent and fierce. The crystalline structures of its surface were a deep blue and glittered like some magnificent jewel as the murky sunlight from an overcast morning struck its surface. Koga had no doubt once the Ryuu was submerged it would be indistinguishable from the surrounding waters. Despite being next to such an impressive vessel Koga’s mind wandered to other planes of thought. His grip tightened as he thought of the Rora’s murder, softened as the memories of Yumiwa’s coronation replaced the darker desires for revenge, and released entirely as his inner eye fell on Soraph. In gaining power Koga hoped it would woo the woman he sought. There was a small crowd on the largest ramp. Koga approached, his new armor making muffled sounds as he strode toward them. “Good morning.” He hailed and bowed respectfully once in their midst. “I am Daikura Koga, member of Rora Yumiwa’s honor guard. Ah, you must be Commodore Ayiwah. A pleasure. And I judge you’re Umbraline Shinshi?"
  12. IC: Ishi Polzin A glob of the kraata's exploded pulp splotched on Ishi's kanohi. He groaned, using a finger to wipe it away but the lens of his kaukau had gained a shmear of sticky contaminants. Names and faces were beginning to take shape in Ishi's mind, each shadowy companion being called out by their leader helped solidify identity; it was better than simply thinking of Karnakie as 'The Rock That Talks'. Ishi turned toward the vortixx and stepped forward for her to tied the blindfold.
  13. Welcome to the BZPRPG at long last, please enjoy your stay. You've put plenty of work into your character and I can't wait to see watch that vitality translate itself into your playing. I have to say I enjoyed the use of little twinkly stars in your profile, but please remember staff have on several occasions asked us players to remove any spoilers tags from our profiles.
  14. Vox, I think that clockwork toa dropped dead.
  15. I cannot back this harder. Keep rocking that classy cannibal, Emissary. Despite the "erg staff intervention" grumbling in my tummy I am also on my knees giving praises for this battle finally wrapping up. On with the staff plot! HOOZAH!
  16. Please note the MNW has been brought up to date, although due to life circumstances some regions have not been fully updated.
  17. Editorials A bit dismal in the journaling department this week. Never fear though, once life is taken care of the MNW crew will be ship shape giving you the best OOC plot network. ~Kughii News Kentoku Archipelago Awaiting information from our regional reporter. 18. IC: Ishi Polzin He coughed, hands and knees pressed into the stone floor for support. Echelon's elemental attack was expected but nevertheless the shock of his body falling to the whims of another left the informant physically shaken. Ishi could feel inside himself the places the necromancer had tugged on and it made him gag. How was he always so powerless? Even his attempted deduction of Ahkmou's personality had failed. Ishi had misread the clues in the makuta-followers words, had falsely deduced the body movement and habits from Ahkmou starting the Cultured Gentry. It was disgusting to have made such clear blunders. Echelon's remark brought Ishi back to the present and the po-matoran pushed himself on to his feet before replying. He swayed a little, knees still weakened by the effects of having shadow and magnetism coursing through his veins, but managed to stay up. "I'll take this test."
  19. Past MNWs should be getting published in the next 48 hours. My apologies everyone for not keeping those up to date.
  20. Nuju I'll make a page for Nihi. ACTUALLY, I'm making pages for all pivotal npc/PC dasaka.
  21. Does the capital city of the dasaka have a name or is it synonymous with the island of sado itself?
  22. Please add me to this giveaway chance! Thank you very much.
  23. Please note this was posted in Games and Trivia with prior permission from Black 6 and Windrider. ~Kughii, 6/21/2014 Arena: A Bionicle Constructible Combat Game Core Rule system published on June 21st, 2014 by Kughii* Look for a tutorial video of the rules coming soon! ~Kughii, 6/21/2014 Turn your Bionicle MOCs into epic warriors and wage bloody combat against your foes, or work together to complete a set of goals dictated by a Game Master. Battle with and against your friends in a turn-based combat game where the powers of the six elements clash against steel, looking an opponent in the eyes often proves fatal, and kanohi can deter some of the strongest blows. Arena is a game for two to eight players and takes a minimum of ten minutes to play, though larger games will run on average thirty to forty-five minutes. Included in the .pdf digital download are the complete Core Rules, along with four basic character sheets. Currently these rules are hosted on Google Drive. You are allowed to view and download, though not edit, the .pdf. You will also need your Bionicle collection, a form of measuring distance, Lego bricks in White, Red, Yellow, and Green, and a place to play. _____ After three years and several editions I am proud to present to the BZPower.com community a set-based game for Bionicle. These rules have been an effort to create a balanced combat game where any race, any power - canon or otherwise - can exist. Although the Core Rules only offer six kanohi, six elements, and six vision powers I plan on releasing several expansions to fill in gaps. In the meantime, if there is something you want for your character simply talk with your fellow players until some agreement is made. This game is as much about creativity as the little pieces we use to build the characters involved, and I would love to see any house rules you make in the comments below, as well as photos of your characters or stories of memorable experiences. Leg godt! During the open beta at Brickcon 2013, a group of four wonderful BZPower members played several games and gave feedback. I want to thank Kakaru, Kopakanui, XCCJ, and Based Goomy for the fantastic spirit and creativity they showed during the play test. *Please note these rules, excluding any and all terms and licenses owned by The Lego Group, are free for anyone to play but they are my creative property. Do not sell these rules or otherwise use them for any commercial purpose without my express written permission. Thank you. Feel free to print out the rules for non-commercial purposes as long as credit is given where it is due.
