  1. oh is that the connection you made its a real doozy but it's no wonder coming from your brilliant mind
  2. don't be cheeky. he's responding to the implied tone of your words rather than the words themselves. this is so surprising i thought he'd be higher you don't understand the metagame. gliscor and blissey are bottom tier threats, and rotom-w is only a good pokemon because he checks top tier threats, not because he is one himself. that's why rotom and landorus get so much usage, because they're versatile pokemon that are tailored to the metagame, not because they're dominant beasts like genesec that the game revolves around. things that carry knock off are easily identifiable and a good player should be able to play around them. i'm not saying knock off isn't a threat to chansey more than it is to blissey, it is, but chansey is still better in spite of it. also that pun was terrible. i knew mega mence was gonna be banned when they announced it'd have aerialite. the calcs with just regular salamence + an aerialite boost were crazy. if it's any consolation, mega mence is still really really good in ubers. okay i want to preface this by saying i'm not aiming this at you personally but there are tons of people like you that completely miss the point of smogon and it disgusts me. no offense. smogon tiers are their own metagame and you don't need to play them if you don't want. BUT they are more than just a guideline, like suggestions. pokemon is a game that is full of a lot of bullshoes, like sleep moves, evasion moves, broken mechanics and unbalanced pokemon. it wasn't designed to be competitive, it was designed to be a children's game where you catch animals and teach them attacks. that game, though, had tons of untapped potential to be a fun, competitive, skill heavy game once all the bull was removed. smogon tiers aren't guidelines on how to win, they're more like the theory of evolution. there's no undeniable proof that the smogon metagame is what the game could have been, but there is no way of playing the game (or to complete the metaphor, explain where animals come from) that is more compelling. god why did i care enough to type that out i need a job
  3. no but i know who ramen biter is can you see why kids love the taste of cinnamon toast crunch?
  4. did anyone else think that steven was really lame this time around? he's always going 'hmm' like he's so thoughtful but he never says anything cool and he whines a lot. i really hate how the writers weren't aware of it at all, either, like they just assumed they'd make him cool like he was in RSE. the lady in delta episode refers to him as a 'silver haired dreamboat'. what's dreamy about him? he's just the awful written cliche anime character the writers are trying to push way too hard and it really made me anger face.
  5. YOUR WISH IS GRANTED however, disney world has gotten very immersive this year as a part of the campaign for the upcoming star wars movie. as a result, you have been recruited into the stormtrooper training program and will spend the rest of your life in an imaginary military, all the while being paid for by your parents who should've read the fine print on their admission passes. i wish i was the most creative man on the world with a mind capable of withstanding my own creativity
  6. i've opted not to use the exp share or mega evolutions until i've beaten the e4 on account of how easy they made Y
  7. rots was my favourite prequel too. i dunno what you mean about the wink wink thing, but at the same time i guess i never really thought about it. either way, no amount of riding on the originals will ever be as obnoxious as the book about the palpatine clones.
  8. finished george rr martin's 'a dance with dragons' ... :'(
  9. GUYS THAT LIGHTSABRE IS AWESOME SHUT UP if it's any reassurance (and it should be) JJ abrams is a much more talented director than george lucas and he seems excited enough about the work he's doing so the comparisons to the prequels are more likely your PTSD acting up than intuition
  10. ugh you're negative anyways i picked up alpha sapphire yesterday and i'm really enjoying it. it's making me depressed, though, since i chose sapphire for the legendaries exclusive to it i couldn't use my best friend shiftry to beat the game ;-;
  11. fallout new vegas has god tier writing and weapon design, is the most immersive RPG you'll ever play. great character choices and tons of content, but not very cinematic. fallout 3 on the other hand has an action movie plot with lots of epic moments. it's all very juvenile. do with that as you will. skyrim is very shallow but is fun in spite of itself. morrowind on the other hand immersive and passionately made (bethesda loves their games they just have incompetent devs) and definitely a 10/10 but the graphics have aged poorly and graphics mods might be taxing. if you get the few essential mods to patch up some oversights this will be the best experience dragon's dogma has phenomenal gameplay and level design and replayability. it's also very difficult. really fantastic game. the witcher series is very immersive and has great character options, but combat is hit and miss and largely disappointing. the game world is very easy to enjoy dragon's age origins and the first mass effect were well done RPGs but the later installments were a little dumbed down system shock 2 and deus ex are classics, cheaply available, and essential experiences. if you're actually looking for games to deeply immerse yourself in a character the older DnD games are worth a shot. baldur's gate 2 or icewind dale. and while not technically WRPGs, the souls series takes inspiration from western dungeon crawlers. great games if you're smart.
  12. spoken like someone who doesn't play MMOs!
  13. no and i'm not a youth the person below me likes to compare things
  14. uh, what? isn't that because amiibos are based off of characters already in the game?
  15. no need to be rude i didn't mean it as rudeness. you are being boring, though, that's a perfectly reasonable thing to say. what kind of objectives do you suggest? what system do you suggest beyond battling with Pokemon to grow stronger? i didn't say battling with pokemon needed to be changed. i respect that battling is the core of gameplay and the part that interests me the most. i play pokemon exclusively for the battling. I think Pokemon has a pretty solid schtick going, quite honestly, and you have yet to actually suggest anything better for them to do with it. i'm not going to suggest anything better because 1) i'm not a gamefreak developer so it isn't my job and 2) i'm of the opinion that you are set enough in your ways to dismiss my suggestions as bad or worse than the current whether they are good or not. i'm not arguing for a new hypothetical game that i think will be better, i'm arguing that changing the current (and old) formula for the story mode is a good idea and you are arguing that it isn't. B/W didn't just switch up the objectives, but quite frankly, you're saying first person shooters, an entire genre of boring, interchangeable games, are less repetitive than Pokemon do you genuinely believe that pokemon offers a new experience each time? you've said literally nothing to support this, have never once claimed it. you aren't saying pokemon is always new and exciting, you're saying that the same thing is good enough. yet here, you're saying the same thing isn't the same thing. this is why i believe you are arguing for the sake of arguing or mistaken your opinion with objectivity. and that's enough to make me cackle hideously and ignore trying to actually make a case to you. this is stupid and an unreasonable comment based on the observation i've made, as well as hypocritical since you accused me earlier of being rude. not gonna respond anymore.
  16. you're so boring and you're content with being boring. pokemon is comparable to call of duty in the sense that it's repetitive but call of duty at least has the decently to switch up it's level design. here's a thought i hope you don't think is too blasphemous; what if they came up with new ideas for objectives beyond the same formula they've been using since 1996. they clearly don't need to; they just rearranged the order of the objectives in one game and you wrote a paragraph commending that brilliant decision. it's an unnecessary and rigid rulebook they're following arbitrarily.
  17. i'm sorry are you under the impression i meant the order was the boring part
  18. pokemon is remarkable in that its one of the only series that hasn't been substantially dumbed down over the years so let's not start asking for small and petty changes because we aren't happy with ourselves. if we are gonna change pokemon let's not focus on irrelevant HM mechanics that are easily worked around, let's maybe revisit the 'collect 8 badges, fight evil team, become elite 4 champion in that order' formula the games refuse to deviate from.
