  1. 3-1989 RYIC: The digging subs kept going, retriving any bits and pieces of the metal they could find. For now they left the other resources alone, the alien alloy was top priority. An entire battalion was sent to reinforce the expedition in the mountain, equipped with weapons designed for close quarters combat and not bringing down the caves around the ears of the users. With them came metal rimmed tubes, pumping machines, tanks and equipment for a prolonged stay. They kept going, undeterred by the Howlers. If they had been a little more advanced and the substance in the area a little less deadly, they might have left it well enough alone. But as it was, there was no way that they were going to leave such a deadly substance out in the open where a nation with less well-intentioned ideas could get to it.The re-reinforcements had arrived some time previously, bringing up the total amount to higher then when Fillion troops had first arrived in Waalrusaan. Resources were placed into the reconstruction of Pontolis. After some time fiddling with the problem, Fillion weapon designers came up with a design that helped to negate the inherent inaccuracy of the Donnermakker. A special kind of laser was attached to the weapon that would attract the lightning bolt to the point at which the laser was hitting. The power necessary was drawn from the Donnermakker itself and so the final product had a smaller electrical charge then the normal one. Further improvement of the weapon would solve that problem eventually though.Fillion said that they would be willing to help with the improved hydrogen fuel technology as soon as the funds became available.OOC: INDUSTRY REPORT:PROVINCES:A2: Skinhok- Large state-40 IP 10 battalions Now April 16- Done May 31A3: Clinvel- Large State-40 IP 10 battalions Now April 16- Done May 31B2: Meltat- Super Province-80 IP 100 battalions No further upgradeB3: Dacros- Large State-40 IP 10 battalions Now April 16- Done May 31C2: Nytle- Large State-40 IP 10 battalions Now April 16- Done May 31C3: Benser- Capitol State-60 IP 50 battalions Now April 16- Done June 7C7: Skorhinjell-Medium territory- 5 IP 1 battalions- Now May 15- May 29C14: Dertonic-Small Territory 5 IP 1 battalions- Now May 16- Done May 30UNITS:2 Seabhac helicopters 1 IP4 Iolar helicopters 6 IP5 Mathan tanks 1 IP10 Ga Solis anti-air vehicles 2 IP50 Cathach Spec Ops soldiers 2 IP8 Fearthinn Self Propelled Artillery vehicles 8 IP50 (5 groups of 10) Sealgair 2 IP22 IPBASES:F2NATIONAL PROJECTS: Hostligns Now April 13- done August 13 75 IPWeapons development 5 IPSolar backpack generators 25 IP now May 20- Done June 3Ocean search- 25 IPLuminous rocket/moon launch- 75 IPPhotonics- Now May 22 -60 IPReconstruction of Pontolis- 10 IPBUILDING: Total battalions- 192Toal IP used 297 total IP 310I will post a description of Fillion soon.

  2. Kealen- Tower of TyisIC: A sigh of relief escaped his lips as Kealen watched Alan's eyes open, followed by a slight twitch of his lips at the first thing that came out of his mouth. He stepped forward saying, "Is there anything else you would like us to do?"

  3. Kale Ironshaper- Onu-koro shopIC: The silver matoran took the widgets and walked back through the door. After a few minutes, they could hear the creaking of wheels and he reappeared at the door of the shop with a small caravan behind him.Several maha pulled each cannon and a matoran driving each team."My employes will go with you to your ship and help you get loaded before bring the maha back here."

  4. 11-1988 RYIC: The twenty thousand new troops moved to join the main force, fixing bridges and clearing roads from where sabotage had destroyed them. On their way, they were joined by the newly trained group of Sealgair. Who, being a much smaller group, were able to travel at a faster pace. The Waalrusaan special forces were engaged in some rather heavy firefights in their attempts to sabotage ammo dumps and other places of interest. Of course, they were not driven off from every single one of them, but they certainly did not have unilateral success. They were not safe even when they broke off and left, though. Fillion troops tracked them into the mountains, and even though they did not have as intimate a knowledge of the area as their foes, they did know the basic landscape and knew enough about this sort of thing to avoid being drawn into ambushes or caught by avalanches and other traps. The Iolar helicopter pilots were starting to be able to put into practice the missile dodging training that they had been undergoing as part of their normal routine. Anyone firing them had to see through the smoke from the flares giving the pilots enough time for them to dodge it and shoot it down with the nose mounted Gruin weapon. The Fillion representative at the forum said that they would not be signing the treaty as there were far too many possibilities of the usage of nuclear energy.OOC: Part fun fact and part explanation of why my guys have that edge in anti-guerrilla warfare.Gangs.Far from your average gangs though. You could think of these ones sort of like an IRA/Mexican drug cartel/mafia mix-up.Once relative order had been created across the lands, everybody started focusing on internal problems, and with a combination of more or less normal civilians, a police force that was willing to work with all of the more or less normal civilians and a fair sized military that now had nothing to do, most of the criminal organizations in Fillion were stomped out. Those that were left were either really lucky or very good at what they did. After a few more of them got picked off, the rest started to get more militarized in an attempt to survive, using guerrilla tactics and striking back from time to time. Since then it has been a rather vicious spiral with a lot of "Survival of the Fittest" thrown in.So yeah, I have super gangs. And no, I did not just come up with this out of nowhere. This has been floating around in my head for a while, i just never saw a place/reason to put it in the open.Edit: I'm not sure what kind of AA missile the Waalrusaan's are using here. The Javelin was not even test fired until 1993 and was only put into full use in 1996.

  5. 10-1988 RYIC: Extra funding was sent to the underwater search in the hopes that they could find the main source of the metal soon. The expedition in the caves split into five groups to quicken the search. Two hundred people were in each group, half soldiers, half civilians.Another fifteen thousand troops were sent to fill in the gaps that had been created by the fighting on Waalrusaan.OOC: 10 IP towards the ocean search and study of everything that has been brought up.

  6. Kale Ironshaper- Onu-koro shopsIC: The Fe-matoran rummaged through a large book on the counter for a few moments before turning and saying, "Normally these would go for 150 widgets each, but for the sake of Kale here I think i can lower the price to a flat 100."

  7. 7-1988IC: The basic research for backpack generators finished and a sizable chunk of funding was diverted to research into photonic computer systems.9-1988IC: Several Fillion aid organizations came over to join the growing crowd of them in Waalrusaan. The most prominent named "Sun's Rays". With them came reporters, several station had decided that Astaria was doing a horrible job of reporting in an unbiased professional way and joined together to form a war corespondent group that would report on conflict wherever it may happen. The Fillion contingent moved up to a more prominent position in the convoy.. They were not suffering from the cold nearly as much as some of the other countries. In fact, Waalrusaan was several degrees warmer then what they were used to. They had not suffered as much as the others and were slightly more fresh overall. They also knew how to fight in urban environments, holding war games in several towns every year or so. In Ponotolis the Sgian had come in particularly handy, seeing as this was exactly the type of situation that it was designed to be used in.Several teams were going throught the rubble of the beachhead looking for any Donnermakkers that could still be recognized as such. When they found them, they would pack them up and send them to a ship that was waiting offshore. After receiving a tip from Aquileonise intelligence, another group of Spec Ops soldiers were set abut being trained.Elsewhere, the research into modular helicopter jet engines was completed.OOC: I live in the arctic circle, I figure that it could hardly get any colder then what they deal with everyday. As far as the international colony, not much has happened. I started a think tank about why the storms all went poof like that but othe then that I don't think anyone has done anything with it.One group of Sealgair now being trained- Done in two daysResearch into backpack generators done. 8. 6-1988IC: The Fillion response the the Stans was that they were setting up an underwater mining base in the area. The place had been scoped out on the hunch that a meteor had impacted there sometime in the distant past. When the hunch had paid off, they had moved in in force. They asked the Stans if it would be preferred if Fillion claimed the area for the sake of simplicity. The expedition kept working their way along the tube-like veins. There had to be a source and it was too dangerous to be left uncontained where anyone could get at it.Nerve gas was almost as bad as bio-weapons to the Fillions, but they kept quiet for now. Infighting was unneeded during the middle of an attack of this magnitude.

  9. 6-1988 RYIC: The hallway was disassembled and sent up to the surface, giving them their first major chunk of the stuff yet. The earlier attempt at finding the things through sonar might not have given them much of a picture of what was down there but it did tell them where it was not. They started digging right into the place where the static had been the thickest.Pictures were taken of the crystal formations, both as a record and as something to show the folks back home. All the while, they continued to follow the veins in the quartz crystals. And, as they had no desire to get lost and somebody was going to do it sooner or latter, they made a very thorough map of all the caves they went through and a short distance into some of the once that branched off.4-1988 RYThe new Fearthinn artillery had arrived and went to work at once. Using hard punching shells whenever dealing with caves or bunkers, and switching to the scattershot type whenever met by opponents on slightly more open ground.

  10. 5-1988 RYIC: The alien materials were put through a mass spectrometer and the results cataloged. They may not have known what they were now, but every new thing added another datapoint that would help them figure out everything about these new materials. The subs gave up on trying to figure out what it was and went back to carefully unwrapping this present that fate had dropped in their laps. Meanwhile, divers were on the inside of the hallway, digging away at the rock on either end.The second expedition started into the caves, following the crystal growth and the veins inside it. Everybody knew what it could do to you and moved carefully, trying not to get any punctures in their suit. Evey once in a while, yhey would stop and rest, setting up the tents they had brought to allow people to get out of their suits without the chance that they would be exposed to the deadly liquid.OOC: Is the hallway just by itself or is it attached to something?

  11. Kale Ironshaper- Onu-koro storeIC: The matoran walked over to one of the cannons lined up along the wall. "then this might be what you are looking for. A demi-culverin, packs a nice punch and hits what you aim it at. It'll take any type of shell you can fit in there. I can give you a supply of solid metal ones but if you want anything else you are going to have to go to a real weapon shop. I have more in the back, so tell me how many you want and I'll bring them to the front of the store."

  12. 4-1988 RYIC: Sixty thousand Fillion troops followed the rest onto the beach. With them were four Iolar assualt helicopters and fifty Cathch Special Operations soldiers. Four of the newly built Fearthinn SPAV would be following soon. They followed the rest of the army as they moved inland, mopping up what was left after everybody else had come through and providing a reserve force that could be brought up to take the place of anyone who needed a rest. The new discovery more or less tossed out any possibilities that this was some sort of comet that had been forged in the heart of a star. the search was focused around this strange hallway at the bottom of the ocean. The small bits of stuff n the floor were collected and analyzed digging was started at the rocky ends of the hallway to see if they could discover if there was anything else on the other side. Outside the subs began to set up specialized sonar devices that would act sort of like ground penetrating radar and hopefully give them a view of what was inside the rock. The expedition in the forest mobilized and set out for the Howler (It was an even tie whether to call it that or the "Werebear") the next day. The hunters that had been brought were now able to show of their skills as they followed alongside the shaggy hunting dogs that sniffed for a scent. The message from the Stan colonists was answered by another expedition, this one specifically outfitted for cave exploration and again, with half a battalion as guard. With the second expedition came a message from the Fillion government, asking if they could have permission from them to have prolonged access to the substance so that they could figure out some way to counteract it. It was figured that the settlers would be just as eager to have some was to counteract such a deadly substance as the Fillion government was.OOC: Both the Fillion coalition troops and the cave expedition have hazmat suits of which Fillion has a slightly different version. It is comprised of two layers. The first one is like that of a normal hazmat suits, but the second is more or less a plastic shell that covers most of the body. It makes suit punctures much less common and does not add too much to the weight overall.I figure the reason that the whole assault was not something more like Normandy was the fact that we were pouring several hundred thousand men into a place that was already weakened when we moved.

  13. Kale Ironshaper- Onu-koroIC: Kale led the way saying, "I know where to get some. Before I went wandering, I used to come here often with my family to get raw materials for our shop."With practiced ease, he moved through the crowd that always thronged the marketplace of a village until they were in a much more quiet part of town. The sign on a shop ahead advertised it as "Portil's heavy machinery. You want it we can get it""I know the owner so we should be able to get a good price on our cannons." said Kale as he opened the door and stepped through. The inside was filled with bits and pieces of mechanical workmanship, ranging from a few of the elevators and drilling machines used in so many of the mines to several different sizes of cannons set in a row along one wall. With a twitch of his hand, Kale rang the small metal bell on the counter that stood in front of a door leading to another room from which a hammer could be heard. At the noise, the hammer stopped and a Fe-matoran emerged from the door.He saw Kale and a large grin split his face, "Kale Ironshaper! It has been so long I almost thought that you had been eaten by some wild rahi miles away from civilization!""Not yet." came the reply, with a chuckle, "I'm here because my friend here needs some cannons for his ship, which I now happen to be serving on. I figured you could help us with that.""Oh?" said the stocky matoran, turning to Dehkaz. "Well, any friend of Kale is a friend of mine. What kind of cannons do you need?"

  14. 3-1988 RYIC: A message was sent to the Astarians asking if they could have the data that they had discovered. Neither of the things were very secret and it would mostly just save Fillion a couple thousand dollars that they would otherwise has to spend. That and the fact that the Astarians had taken the bodies with them when they had left. The message also included a very polite suggestion that they might want to return the bodies to their families if not to their governments. The message had probably been lost in all the excitement of the war and it would be in everybody's interest to avoid another international incident. The Fillion group was still searching the woods for whatever had killed all of those people. Specifically, whatever was making that howling noise since that was all they had to go on at the moment. The Fillion forces finally moved to one of the coalition staging points, accompanied by 4 Iolar helicopters.

  15. Kale Ironshaper- Onu-koroIC: Kale squinted slightly as the group steeped out of the tunnels into the slightly better lit village of Ou-koro. He placed the metal tablet he had been writing on in one of the many pockets of his cloak and turned to the rest of the crew."Are we splitting up to make this faster or should we all stick together for this bit?"

  16. 2-1988 RYIC: The research into fiber optics was finished, freeing up resources for other things. The new special operations platoon finished it's training and joined the forces getting ready to join the rest of the coalition.Construction was started on eight new Fearthinn artillary vehicles.Funding was put into developing modular jet engines that could be hooked onto helicopters.A secret new type of bomb, just finished with the final stages of testing and development, was shipped to the airbases that the coalition would be using in their bombing campaigns.Funding was put back into the crater search.OOC: Exactly what it says in the post.Fiber optic research is now done as are the Cathach Spec Ops dudes.Fearthinn Self Propelled Artillery vehicles are now being bulit, ETA two days.Research into helicopter jet engines started, 20 for 1 week.10 more IP into searching the crater.

  17. 1-1988IC: As a primitive missile shield, the Fillion military placed transports around the landmass of Arcuutngaad. Each transport had one of the Mathan tanks or Ga Solis anti-air vehicles on them. The captains of the transports made sure that they were far enough away from shore that some lucky soldier with a bazooka could not get off a shot at them. Each one had orders to shoot down anything that tried to take off. There was little chance that they could miss the launch of an ICBM, those engines gave off a lot of heat and light as they rose up. even a glancing blow to the rocket would provide enough damage that it would burn up on reentry. They kept a 24 hour watch to make sure that A there was no chance of them missing a launch and B there was no chance that anyone could sneak up on them. Of course they had shifts so that nobody got tired and fell asleep at there posts and they were timed so that nobody fell into the trance-like state that people went into after too long of watching nothing happen.

  18. 1-1988 RYIC: Fillion troops immediately began mobilizing in Nytle in preparation for transport to the warzone. They moved quickly but did not rush since their military capabilities were better suited to the campaign that would take place once the airforce had done it's job.OOC:INDUSTRY REPORT:PROVINCES:A2: Skinhok- Large state-40 IP 10 battalions Now April 16- Done May 31A3: Clinvel- Large State-40 IP 10 battalions Now April 16- Done May 31B2: Meltat- Capitol State-60 IP 50 battalions Now April 16- Done May 17B3: Dacros- Large State-40 IP 10 battalions Now April 16- Done May 31C2: Nytle- Large State-40 IP 10 battalions Now April 16- Done May 31C3: Benser- Capitol State-60 IP 50 battalions Now April 16- Done June 7C7: Skorhinjell-1 IP 1 battalions- Now April 24- done May 15C14: Dertonic- 1 IP 1 battalions- Now May 1- Done May 16UNITS:2 Seabhac helicopters 1 IP4 Iolar helicopters 6 IP5 Mathan tanks 1 IP10 Ga Solis anti-air vehicles 2 IP10 IPBASES:F2NATIONAL PROJECTS: Hostligns Now April 13- done August 13 75 IPWeapons development 5 IPFiber optics- Now April 15 done May 15 25 IPBackpack generators 75 IP now April 20Ocean search- 5 IPBUILDING: 50 Cathach- Done May 15-10 IPTotal battalions- 142Toal IP used 280 total IP 282

  19. 8-1987 RYIC: The Fillion commander said that they would search the forest for the cause of whatever had bee making the howls. The next day, the expedition packed up camp and set out into the more densely forested areas.OOC: That's kind of funny since there are no handheld versions of it yet.

  20. Kale Ironshaper- Onu-wahi tunnelsIC: "I should probably write up a list of all the things needed for cannon then." The silver toa said, conjuring a metal tablet with a sweep of his hand.

  21. 8-1987 RYIC: The Fillion commander continued, "If you have no problems, then we should decide how to best search as large an area as possible with what we have."OOC: That would be the one talking to the Astarian commander on the mainland.

  22. Kale Ironshaper- Onu-wahi tunnelsIC: Dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt, rock, dirt, glowstone, dirt, dirt, dirt. There was a lot of dirt down here, away from the sun. Kale could feel his armor contracting ever so slightly as the temperature went down with them.He sped u until he was walking next to Dehkaz and asked, "So where is this engineer that is going to rebuild our ship for us?"

  23. 11-1987 RYIC: Outrage swept through Fillion upon news of the bio-strike. Full support was promised to Aquileon in it's war against the barbarians that would try to kill the entire population of a country.Funding was cut from the ocean search and put towards the training of a new special forces unit.A large chunk of funding was added to the pool for Luminous.OOC: I am not actually a part of the NEA, I am just on good or at least not bad, terms with the entire world. 24. 8-1987 RYIC: The Fillion commander laughed as he walked with the Astarian, the reflection of a nearby fire could be seen in his eyes from the right angle. Each had a ring of gold around a center of brown."Most of the places here, yes.But I'm afraid that our little expedition is not as quiet as the animals that make this place their home." His face became more businesslike as they neared a grove of trees that stood a short way away from the camp. "It might be best if we kept our groups apart most of the time. A few nights of company with strangers is fun, a long extended journey shows the ugliness of everybody. Our groups came to know the others in them on the way here, we don't need the added distraction of going through that again during a hunt. We could meet up every few weeks or so and compare notes on what we found."10-1987 RYIC: The Fillion schools were happy to take as many students as Atrania sent over. Depending on how long they stayed, it was expected that the entire country could be brought up to the same technological level as the rest of the world without any problems.Underwater drilling material was sent to the ocean crater with military funding. It was hopped that they could open the place up to civilian drilling in the future, but since the enire operation was still classified that option was off the table. The scientists wondered how oil could have survived, both the creation of the alloy and the meteor's entry into the planet.A message was sent to the Luminous meeting, asking if Fillion could step in to take Kissere's place after they had left.OOC: 5 more IP towards searching and excavating the crater.
