  1. Looks like a solid game to me, much better than the last time it was up here.

    Two things.

Reconstitute at random disks can simply have their results decided by the GM or, if you want to prevent any sort of possible favoritism, just have a few general traits that can be picked via RNG.

As far as custom factions go I would suggest against outright outlawing them. However you can make them very hard to start by doing stuff like taking away all the NPCs that would have been brought with a player.

Within reason of course, the second in command of a metru is going to have some followers if he leaves. Pretty much what I'm saying is that you don't have to build a mechanic for it, but if the players build their own faction from scratch it would be ill advised to just GM fiat them to death.

  2. Finally got around to writing up Kasper's mech.

    Base Model: FAW-007[G] Warrior

Designation: Test Team Four Experimental Platform Three, AKA The Take Two

Appearance: For the most part the Take Two looks much the same as any other Warrior stationed at Horizon. However, Test Team Four could hardly leave it like that and still retain their name. As a result it carries a pair of disk-like protrusions at the small of the Walker's back. In addition, the Warrior's shield has been modified with a clamp on the top in order to act as a support for it's extra large weapon

Armaments: Bearing in mind the enhanced armor and agility of the new Arc Union Walkers, Horizon R&D has attempted to counter with high accuracy and firepower. It has tried to do this by constructing an upsized version of a common infantry weapon, namely the sniper rifle. Utilizing the same direct reactor core fed coilgun design as found on the Vernichten they have designed a weapon that fires explosive cored kinetic penetration rounds. Due to the large size of the weapon it must be supported while firing, either by the Take Two's shield or by using both hands.

The Take Two uses the basic machete heat blade in melee combat.

While not exactly an armament the Take Two is equipped with something to help prevent counter- sniper fire from swiftly taking it out of the fight. The two disks on it's back act as jammers, throwing out all sorts of confusing signals across multiple spectrums. While certainly not as effective as the system in Harken's former armor, it does prevent effective targeting from extreme ranges and makes it tricky at medium ranges.

Weakness: The Take Two's jammer system makes it stand out like a bonfire while activated and can't be run continuously due to the power demands it places on the vehicle's bog standard reactor. In addition the size of it's weapon means that a stable firing position is required for any sort of real accuracy. Running and gunning is highly discouraged. Due to the coilgun's direct access to the Walker's power core, there is a small area where a stray round may be able to find it's way through and cause extensive damage.

    Pilot: Kasper Harken.

  3. Toshiko

IC: "I'm good until the adrenalin wears off." I ground out. I could feel the faint tinge of pain from my burns already. My helpfulness would be highly limited in my current state.

"Might need to be carried after that. I promise to keep the screams of pain to a minimum."

  4. Sen Fahll-The Stray Tach

    IC: "Sen Kazen."

His first name was fairly common for Mandalorians of his age group and he had picked the most generic last name he could think of on the spot. It was one thing to act friendly with an Inquisitor, it was quite another to say that he had the same name as one of the dead bodies on their list of wanted men.

"An archeologist by trade, although I'm between digs at the moment. Finished unearthing a five hundred year old village about two weeks ago. Swamps may be great for preserving things but you would be surprised at how long it can take to get decomposing plant matter out of your clothes."

  5. Sen Fahl-The Stray Tach

IC: The two spacers seemed harmless enough, bantering like any of the hundreds of their fellows that Sen had met over his travels. There was something off about them but nothing to set off an major alarm bells.

Until a wave of power rolled off the big one. A wave so cold and dark it was all Sen could do to not freeze up and break out in goosebumps.

He took a somewhat longer sip from the drink in front of him, buying a couple seconds of removal from the conversation. The last time he had felt anything like that had been back on Mandilor, right before he had left the planet forever.

The Inquisitorious was on Taris, and two of it's members were currently sitting next to him.

The archeologist's mind raced. The two were obviously incognito, although the reason for that could be as simple as a desire to enjoy some off time. The way they were asking about that spacer made that option rather unlikely though. They were most likely trawling for information.

Or they could be there for Sen himself. He had no doubts they he would be hunted mercilessly if they somehow found out that he was still alive. If they attacked him at this range he doubted escape would be possible. Not with two Inquisitors a barstool away.

    He needed more information.

"Why don't you give me a description of the robber and some way to contact you. If I see him I'll pass the information along."

  6. Sen Fahl-The Stray Tach

IC: "You guys still looking for that spacer who robbed you?"

It seemed that this crew was filled with vaguely scary people of all sorts of types. At least Sen assumed the man with the fill and this newcomer were part other same crew.

  7. Sen Fahl-The Stray Tach

IC: This had been one of the most interesting bar dives Sen had ever been on. All sorts of interesting people coming and going.

Like that man with the strange chill who had just settled on the bar stool next to the archeologist.

Another sip from the glass in his hand as he pondered the other man. His instincts were a constant itch at the back of his mind, warning that there was something off about Tue person in front of him. What that could be, Sen had not the slightest clue.

Only one real way to find out.

"You look like a man with something in his mind. Want to talk about it?"

  8. Sen Fahl-The Stray Tach

IC: Since Sen was still holding his drink all it took was a sway backwards to avoid the swinging arm. He took another sip while returning to his previous position, staring at the two women. He could of sworn they had just been in here.

"My condolences." He said, deciding not to put his glass down just yet.

  9. Sent Fahl-The Stray Tach

IC: Sen had been deep in thought when the bartender called out to him. The spacer who had come through earlier had a faint chill hovering around him for some reason. Enough for the archeologist to keep his mouth shut and try to fade into the background.

He blinked at the sound of the translator droid, the glass in front of him was in fact empty.

"I don't feel like passing out just yet." Came the amused reply. "How about something flavorful and some food, my stomach is reminding me that it's been a while since I last ate."

  10. I'm just not a fan of Bionicle Westerns, (now with less guns and more racism!) It's a genre problem.

Now that I think about it though, since I assume that the War ended in something like a draw, why are the biomechs treated as second class citizens?

  11. Last Stand: Better than before, the Ga-Matoran now have a reason for being there. Still needs a good plot hook though.

Also, I would see if you could add some character to the way it's written. What you have is hardly boring, but it hardly grabs the reader and makes them interested in your world.

Cinderbrick: I can't say that the setting interests me a lot. And I can't help but wonder where the town's food and water come from.

However I absolutely love your non-canon version of elemental powers, it reminds me of what it was like before all of Bionicle's mystery got explained away. Also I appreciate that you have distinct differences between Glatorian and Toa.

  12. As much as a new RPG makes me happy, I can't help but think, "What's the point?" When I look at this game.

Obviously it's supposed to take place in dark desperate times. That's not what I have a problem with. It's the distinct lack of any possible way for (assumedly) the players to win. The RPG looks like a horde mode defense game at present.

The setting is solid enough, although there are a few areas I can see that could be improved. For example, how has Ko-Koro changed? You say that it is now more like a city but how did it get like that? Did they expand into the glacier? What new important buildings have popped up with all the renovations?

Also maybe expand a bit more on what each group of Matoran brought to the fight. What sort of inventions have the Onu-Matoran come up with and did they being any Ussals. Are the Ta-Koro Guard still an elite fighting force? Do the Ga-Matoran actually bring anythinto the fight beyond bodies and guts?

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's a good base, but the current version is just that, a base. It needs to be significantly fleshed out.

  13. Kasper Harken

IC: Kasper stayed quiet. Partially because Benjamin had a point. As much it irked him to admit it, the Gungnir had not performed as hoped. Best case scenario it would new relegated to allow infantry to act in a supporting role.

The other reason was that he did not want to break into the German pilot's flow. The man had a thing going and to be frank, the Sergeant's attitude was not winning her any popularity contests.

  14. Kasper Harken

IC: "My given/received damage ratio begs to differ." Said Kasper as he walked up to the group. "And yes, I'm getting fast tracked into the Walker program. Seems that attack left us somewhat short on qualified pilots."

A wry smile flitted across his face as he looked at the two Walker pilots.

"I ever so look forward to whatever you have for the junior pilot to test."

  15. Toshiko- Rahkshi Hunters

IC: I screamed as the battlefire briefly washed over me. Reacting more by instinct than conscious though I turned the slash into a sideways roll that brought me out of the immediate danger zone.

Luckily the Rahkshi had vacated the immediate area, all that was left where it had been standing was a circle of scorched rock and I had a fair suspicion that it could have survived even if it had decided to simply take the fire head on. Whatever the case it allowed me a couple seconds to catch my breath and take stock of the situation.

From the feel of it I had at least second degree burns over a very large portion of my body. The sharp pain of them causing me to grind my teath and my anger to flare. I was going to break Peho's jaw when we got back to the surface.

    Bare minimum.

Sweet, sweet adrenalin would prevent me from collapsing in agony for the moment but I was going to require some serious attention once that wore off. For the moment though I was able to take my bag of lightstones and sweep it through the air, sending its contents flying across the combat zone in an arc of golden light. The darkness may have been more potent down here but with that many light sources it should be enough to let people see clearly.

  16. OOC: I get that its hard to run a fight where the NPCs are supposed to be stronger than the players, but please don't bunnying Toshiko.

Also my apologies but I don't get of the fancy text options on my tablet.

    Toshiko- Rahkshi Hunters

IC: The Rahkshi had been both strong and fast, as expected. What I probably also should have expected was its apparent ability to vanish into the shadows of the tunnel.

Adrenalin flowed as I stood beside Hammerlock, a smile covering my face as I searched the tunnel for any signs of our prey. The way it had vanished suggested some form of stealth rather than true invisibility.

There! A shimmer in the air just before it uncloaked and attacked Peho.

Not bother to waste my breath on battle cries I shot forward alongside Hammerlock, although vectoring in on the opposite flank from the mercenary Lesterin. Blade still humming, I aimed low, hoping to cripple the Rahkshi's leg and remove its mobility.

  17. Toshiko- Rahkshi Hunters

IC: The map had been put away as soon as sounds had started echoing through the tunnels. It was not hard to guess what they meant in a place like this.

So when Hammerlock was sent tumbling to the ground I moves immediately. The unexpected crossbow bolt caused the Rahkshi to twitch back and gave me the time to cross the small distance between us and send a batojutsu strike at the monster's right elbow. My trusty blade hummed as it exited the sheath, its enhanced cutting properties activating and turning what would have been nothing but an annoyance into a crippling threat.
