  1. You know what? I will NEVER again in my life accept the ratings for a movie ever again, after the Lone Ranger. When I left the theater, I could hear all the other groups chattering to themselves about how good the movie is and wondering why it got bad reviews. Why should I listen to a bunch of strangers who don't share my taste in movies in the first place? What makes them qualified to judge the movie over me? I call Please don't bypass the filter. -B6 on all of it. I didn't say it wasn't a good movie, or that kids of this generation wouldn't like it. But I can tell you that 99% of kids under the age of 12 haven't seen Jurassic Park. I didn't even end up watching it until about a year ago. It's a great movie, but it's too old to be pop culture for Lego's target audience.
  2. Maybe they only just had the idea. If you think about it, it makes sense to make Lego Simpsons, whether they're at the peak of their popularity or not. And Lego doesn't seem to care about their lines being popular; Lone Ranger did terrible (Though the movie was fantastic, best movie of the year IMO), and many other themes they had were based off stuff that was more or less unpopular. You could bring up the same argument with Spongebob. The show certainly wasn't in its prime when sets came out for it.
  3. Well the simpsons don't look like real people. I'm not really grossed out when scratchy gets his guts ripped out, but if there's some horror movie where they make it look real, heck, I'm not going to that movie. The bottom line is, if you have a kid that buys a set for a violent movie, and then goes to see said violent movie, that's not lego's fault. It's called bad parenting.
  4. :I I don't think Lego's making electronic baseplates... besides, you're supposed to be able to rebuild them into other thing supposedly, and that wouldn't work with a video game.
  5. What is nobody excited for EYEBALL BALLJOINTS? Woo! But yeah mini ball joints are gonna be p sweet. And I don't think that the story is going to be even mildly tolerable to people with a brain. I echo the sentiment that it's likely targeted to kindergartners and the like. Well it's working. Have you seen ninjago kiddies at conventions? I just hope that's not what Bionicle fans looked like .-.
  6. Jurassic Park is the wrong generation, as is firefly. I don't know anyone under teen age that watches it. Heck, I don't know many people that watch it at all. Back to the Future is a whole generation older than Firefly, and also contained adult material, and got a set made for it. Firefly definitely has a large, supporting fanbase or it wouldn't have gotten through CUUSOO at all. The question is not "who watches it?" the question is "where is LEGO drawing the line on adult material?" because that was their stated reason for rejecting Firefly, and which this theme contradicts. Doesn't firefly have graphic violence? I think I saw part of an episode where some guy got a pretty nasty shot in the chest or something. I don't recall much violence in BTTF, but it's been a while.
  7. The average price for 1 oz. of platinum is a mere $1428.95. The mask itself is apparently worth $8,320.26 in 2003 dollars, or about $10,558.77 by today's standards. Pocket change, right? Back on topic here.... Oh how I wish I had that sort of money. Like others have said, the mask would definitely be worth the money. So, you could forge it for much cheaper? I'mma gonna do that once I find about $10,000. Well you'll also have to buy Lego's injection mold, which according to Aanchir costs Lego "between $15,000 and $250,000". Since a mold for an Avohkii would only need two halves, (no holes going in other directions) I'm guessing the mold wouldn't be as much as $250,000. But since Lego doesn't part with their molds either, you need to commission one, and I doubt you'll get as good a deal as Lego does.
  8. They can't do that. By a technicality that's unfortunate for the fans, a minifigure pack counts as action figures, a license Lego usually does not buy. That's why the Star Wars magnet sets started being glued, although I don't know why Lego decided to start gluing all of the magnets. So no minifig packs in the future. And why would the cheaper, more common minfigs become collector's items? It's the minifigs from promos and large, old, licensed sets that become collectible. Jurassic Park is the wrong generation, as is firefly. I don't know anyone under teen age that watches it. Heck, I don't know many people that watch it at all.
  9. I heard about a pretty definite leak over a year ago. Like the kind of leak that said "this is actually going to happen", and the kind you actually believe. I don't remember where I heard it though, mighta been The Brothers Brick. I think it's weird, but likely a profitable line. I think the prices will be too high for me, but that's because I'm not a system builder. The sets will be pretty colorful and stuff, so good parts I'm sure.
  10. Yeah but then I'd want to have custom chrome armor to match. Then you have the nightmare of that color scheme, since you'd probably have to do chrome on top of black, and that's not what takanuva is I think it'd be better to get custom gold chrome parts for a takanuva But then again, the allure of having a multi-thousand-dollar moc.... :3
  11. You're just putting the mask on a head. It's not like you're gouging it with axles on its face or something...
  12. Ah, I must have misunderstood the vendor when he was talking about the shield :/ It's pretty cool though that you got those figs! And I didn't know that molds cost that much 0.o
  13. There's two kinds of dark blue/gold tarix helms, pictured here: http://bzpower.com/black6/prototype/Piece_38_f.jpg That being said, I don't know how many there are, but there is a pic of most of the protos, in their respective quantities. That's after the first convention where they were given away, but I don't think any tarix's besides the pink one were taken at that point.
  14. I don't think Lego would screw over those fans like that, though I did hear that they were rigging the raffles so that kids would get them. Maybe they DO want to screw over those guys that got cool free stuff and then just sold it XD In any case, even if they DO use the mold later, the minifig will likely not have the same print on it. At brickfair, I saw some minifigures from KidFair or something like that, I don't remember the name. I think they were green lantern and captain america? Two superheroes. But they were trying to sell them for $1,200+, because they only came out once, and captain america had a special printed shield piece, in a shape that does not exist in any other set. I doubt there's a new shield coming out to replace the old shields, so I'd guess it's a one-of-a-kind mold, which has happened in sets before, so why not promos?
  15. Why wouldn't you? I, for one, think it is awesome. It's cool to make a MOC with a proto in it, this is the same thing. I think the most expensive bionicle prototype was worth less than 700$ and I am not aware of anyone using it on a moc. The platinum Avhokii is worth like 20 times more so I would not think anyone sane would have it for anything else than display. Wow, I didn't know that putting a rare mask on a moc either destroys the mask or devalues it in some way! Oh wait, it doesn't. There's no reason why you can't put this on a moc dude. Speaking of which, you guys all say that if you win the lottery, you would buy this. If I won the lottery, I'd buy this, AND commission some custom platinum armor to go with it on a takanuva moc, for all that extra swag
  16. Hold on You couldn't buy a 3DS -BECAUSE YOU BOUGHT A DSi I thought that we already established that the DSi is useless. Just get a 3DS for like the same price, it does everything a DSi does and more.
  17. I loved twilight princess, I could just lie on the couch like a total vegetable and just twitch to swing the sword XD But I've yet to taste SS. And no melee? If it weren't for the new characters in brawl, I would like melee more, because I think it has better game physics. But I did come to that conclusion after being on vacation from my wii for a long time and logging over 300 hours of melee, so there might be a SLIGHT bias XD
  18. Ew A = Jump B = Attack Anything else is just doing it wrong. I haven't gotten to play skyward sword yet, I need to get some games from my friend. He still has my super mario sunshine. I need to play that, since I never really did a good playthrough since I actually got decent at video games. (not sure why, it's my #1 favorite too... but that's probably because it was my first video game ever, and a good one at that!) He had my superstar saga for over 6 years lol! But he's got too many games that he hasn't even gotten the time to play, so I'll just make him give me skyward sword :3 And if you need touchscreens for menus, you must have HATED ssbm
  19. Well I mix up x and y on ds, but not on GC. GC they're weird enough that it's easy. And yeah, I was thinking about skyward sword and twilight princess, but those games did not need the motion aspect. Twilight was on GC too. Touche on the wii u
  20. You'd sacrifice all the stuff we've been bringing up because you want a second screen you don't have to press ONE button? Not worth it IMO. I don't see what's wrong with the abxy layout. It's easier to remember where they are. When I play Partners in Time, you have to know perfectly which button is which without even thinking, and with such even geometry I get them mixed up and don't do as well as I should. Pick your poison on the portable wii: Laptop: http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/04/4-17-08-wii-lcd.jpg Handheld: http://cdn.ubergizmo.com/photos/2010/5/wii-portable-mod-ebay.jpg And again, those are simple mods. Wii mods are hard to do, but imagine what a factory can do. And forget the motion, few good games REQUIRED it in my experience. Or at least didn't need it. Have you every played mario kart wii? There is no issue with rear view being a simple button press. If you can manage to fit a gaming laptop inside of an xbox controller and manage to stretch out the controller to something that even closely resembles a laptop, then MAYBE I'd understand how you misunderstood me And I know it's a remake, but I see it this way: A) You're the kind of person that played the game as a kid, and want the nostalgia, not a new game. B) You're the kind of person that hasn't played the game before, so it's a new game for you whether or not they remade it. So why change it?
  21. Well a lot of the games I have for DS basically use the bottom screen as a pause screen. I admit that a few games really HAVE to have the extra screen, but there are a LOT of things you could add that wouldn't benefit most games. I don' think 2 screens is overly important. And yeah, I've seen that trailer, but it looks to me like most or all of that was the wii game. I wouldn't be able to get a sense for the graphics unless they showed me at the 3DS's resolution. And don't hate me, but I didn't like the metroid prime games. Absolute worst control scheme I have ever seen in my entire life. It's like they took a bet and tried to make the most convoluted and terrible layout they could think of while still making it somewhat playable. I wouldn't deal with that, so I ragequit. When I get a laptop that's actually capable of gaming, I'll get the rom for it and change the control scheme so it's actually doable. That would be nice. Haven't played the 2d metroid yet though. It's on my to-play list. It looked completely different from the Wii game. Brawl was all realistic and gritty style, while this game is all bright and colorful and it makes me want to vomit a bit even though Mega Man makes it look like the best game ever made. At 3DS resolution: http://www.ssbwiki.com/images/e/eb/Gerudo_Valley_Fight.gif Oh poo that is amazing cell shading I am in love Well a lot of the games I have for DS basically use the bottom screen as a pause screen. It's on my to-play list. A few do yes. But not many. And, yes, it's convoluted, but the gamecube controller was weird, give them a break. DO NOT BLASPHEME! The GC controller is the best controller that mankind will ever create >:U I clench my hands pretty bad when I concentrate. When I plax xbox for just an hour, their controller starts to hurt my hands. Gameboys are okay, DS sucks, but I can play GC all day without it hurting at all (And have!) I wish everything used GC controllers T.T Okay, then I didn't know what DLC meant I just thought it was anything downloaded, and I didn't know OOT was a physical release. It was on the eshop right? I'm pretty sure that's how my friend has it. "You're not gonna get that size" HA You're wrong http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PntgEooCZmk And that's custom made, imagine what a factory could do! So yeah finally I'm right about something in this thread XD Actually I was ignoring everything you said about Etrian Odyssey, because of TLDR. Consolidate pl0x And maps are for start buttons I didn't really say it was a laptop, I meant that it has the equivalent of gaming laptop hardware and specs. And I didn't say that virtual machines change it. I said that the ports to 3ds do. And Shockwave, I was the one that doesn't like metroid prime.

  23. Have you seen the size of the N64 controllers? How about a game gear? I'd be fine with that. Anyway TLDR, I skimmed I don't give a poop about resolution unless it's so bad that it affects gameplay. I was talking about power, because I didn't think that the 3DS had the ABILITY to run games like twilight princess, which as we all know, can't run on an N64 because it just didn't have the power for the polygons. I'm fine with arcade games and top-downs, but I like me a good graphics-intensive 3D huge-world big game from time to time. I didn't think that the 3DS could do it. It probably can't with that screen. I just want nintendo to quit with the gimmicks. Focus more on the games. Bring down prices, make things more efficient. And I don't think that two screens should be a priority in handheld gaming. It didn't serve the DS too well, and I can't imagine it's helping massively with the 3DS. I remember countless games where they had to just put filler on one screen because there was nothing to do with it. Get a bigger screen with the graphical ability for a good big game like a 3d zelda game. And if size matters to you, why bring up tablets? I'm excited about google glass; if we can hack that to display wireless video, imagine what you can do: Get a retrode on your laptop in a backpack and a hacked wavebird controller, and now you can play any retro game, any time Or just use ROMs and get even more! (I'm a cartridge gamer.) And I'm not saying top-down is bad; I got minish cap recently, and I LOVE it. But one of the things I love about it was that they really though about the gameplay; they fit a huge game into such a tiny map! They were efficient with their code, and it shows in the game's superior quality. I want nintendo games to start thinking about the MAXIMUM power that they can do, and do that. Make a top-down LoZ game, but just keep adding more features until you literally run out of memory on the card! And what? Smash Bros will be cell shaded! Gimme a 3DS now, I LOVE cell shading! <3 Oh and I already said why I don't like DLC retro games; they change them. I want unaltered. They redid master quest completely! That's terrible!
  24. 3D is as much a gimmick as HD, because on screens that small, you really can't tell the difference between 240p and 1080p. And it is not underpowered! I just said above that the 3DS is around the power of the Wii, so it's a bit stronger than the GCN. And you want more intensive games? I still feel that the GCN has the best library of any console ever, but the 3DS is getting pretty darn close, and it's only been out for 2 years. It is a lot stronger than you seem to realize, and is an all-around fantastic system. I think my only complaint is that the Web Browser doesn't support YouTube. That's really it. Other than that, it's a perfect console. Wii power? What? Then why don't they have GCN games on DLC? My opinion is changing about the console thanks to you guys > lol But I still don't like the games for it so much. Why are they making a top-down zelda when they could be giving us stuff like Twilight Princess? And I wasn't saying that the Nvida shield is cool because of the HD; it's a freaking gaming laptop IN AN XBOX CONTROLLER! If that's not the best we can do in this decade, I don't know what is!
