Bionicle's Future and What It's Meant to Me
Blueblur21 replied to WVUFan!'s topic in Bionicle Discussion
Bionicle has been VERY special to me. The Toa are great and powerful heroes I loved growing up and even in my senior year of high school I never let my love die out. I got my first set when my aunt returned from California. She bought me Toa Nuju Metru and Vahki Keeerakh later for Christmas. I loved those two and I thought they were friends because I didn't know the story. Come 2006, and that all changed. The Inika literally took my world by storm, with the Piraka sadly being ignored save for Vezok. 2007, 2008, and 2009 were some of the greatest years of my life as I came to appreciate each and every set I owned. These weren't just toys, they were buildable versions of great heroes and villains that could only exist in LEGO. Once I came to understand what Bionicle was and how it worked, I deeply regretted not getting into it sooner and missing out on the first three years of the series. The ending angered me, though. The sets released for 2010 had nothing on the previous year and the story was nothing to write home about. But 2015 will change that. My room is filled with Bionicle characters and I have an entire storage bin stuffed with their canisters. This 2015 reboot looks fantastic and I cannot wait to get lost in the enticing lore of the greatest LEGO stories ever told. As for this site, I do think that once Bionicle picks up steam, the site should get rolling again. Bionicle has a bright future ahead if the LEGO group keeps handling the series like they have been. -
That wasn't the band's fault, though. You can blame that on the creative direction and vision of LEGO. I'm sure they could have thought out a much better campaign. Also, sales were declining anyways. 2009 was gonna be the last year but they let it go on for two more years.

I understand if they chose something unrelated to the series, but as it is, Move Along fit. Yes, the Free The Band thing was silly, but it got Bionicle more exposure, didn't it?

I'm being serious. The song used for the Inika reflected their struggle against the Piraka and how desperate their mission was. It was a great choice and it fit the team perfectly and showed how they valued teamwork and all that heroic stuff. And don't bang on Macklemore. That man has some credible rapping skills. You might not like him and that's fine but I'm sure he'd at least try to fight the spiders.

I REALLY want a new Cryoshell song for the new series.

The movies were alright. I really wished the Inika had a movie. They are my favorite Toa Team alongside the originals.

I know. And I do agree with you on some points. But let's remember that they can't keep churning out interesting and different body types each season. Character wise I disagree. I hold the Barraki in high regard because they were some of the most interesting and unique characters of their time. Who would have guessed that Kalmah's top eye was torn out by Pridak during a dispute? or that they six were actually ancient warlords banished because it took almost all of the forces of light and darkness to put them down? Say what you will about the building types but it's the backstory and lore that keeps fans interested behind the characters.

Yeah. no thanks. I couldn't sit through five minutes of NInjago before I turned it off.

We must have different views then, because the later years of Bionicle were far better than the early years. The story became more complex, the characters became more well rounded, and everything was just so much more greater than the old times. 2006-2009 had the best arcs and sets.

I liked the canisters. I have a whole bin full of canisters from 2004 to 2010. If the new ones are gonna use cardboard, let's make it strong cardboard, huh?

I agree. The last thing Bionicle needs is a TV series on Cartoon Network or something. We don't want another Hero Factory, do we?
-
She has my favorite of the new designs and I am totally keeping an eye out for her. You think they'll be out for Christmas this year?
-
Love this series. Family knows all too well because when they walk into my room they step into 5-6 year's worth of Bionicle characters and lore.
-
Gali isn't manly. She's well built this time around and doesn't look like a scrawny skeleton with a scuba mask nor a Spec Ops soldier with a rocket launcher. She actually looks like a hero since her 2002 design.
-
Agreed. Although I lost the Mahri set I still have her Inika form. I'm grabbing Gali first chance I get because I love the Water Toa.
-
I REALLY like the new sets, particularly Gali. She's been my second favorite Toa (after Hahli,) for some reason even though I don't have any of her sets.
-
I think the worst thing they could do to this series is make it too childish. I get that it's LEGO, and I'm not asking for a Nolan-type series, but there is a fine line between Bionicle and LEGO Friends.

They HAVE to use Cryoshell. That band has got to get more exposure. They are a really talented band and it would be a shame for them to linger in obscurity the way they have. And for the record, I LOVED 'Move Along and 'Crashed'. Good songs from a decent band and a great singer.

One Toa everybody always seemed to like, but you didnt...

I love all teams of Toa even if I don't own them, but Onua never really clicked with me. I guess it's because the whole strong silent type characterization never appealed to me. I dig his 2015 version, though and will pick him up with the other Toa. ...Get it? Dig? Because he digs... Sorry. -
I want all six of them but Gali was always my favorite. I forever regret using her Mistika form to create that rubbish Trinuma.
-
What about our old posts? Are those gone as well?
-
Well, now that that's over, I guess we can Rebuild! Get it? It's a LEGO site... Nevermind. I'm just happy my account was recovered. I've been to this site for the past eight years and never registered.
