  1. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water "Oh. Is many." Phantom wasn't going to ask just what all of those were, that might take a while. And... it wasn't important, they supposed. They continued with the work. IC: Slif - Gym Finally got him down, took long enough. Now if I could just- *Splurt!* Oh. That is a lot of blood. "Actually, I think I'm done-" ---------- Ooc: I'll post more later, I've been stuck on mobile for a while. Also Slif is nigh unconscious.
  2. IC: Slif - Gym "Not again pal," I mumbled when my arm flew underneath his leg. Both arms were tight around his leg, so I lifted with all my strength I had. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water Green light flooded the fog, adding to the eerie atmosphere. To Phantom, it only added to her sense of wonder. Flecks of dust seemed to fly from Gaever's arm, drifting lazily in the air until they were snuffed out by the mist. "All rahkshi? Plasmah, weather, others?" IC: Fate - Infirmary "...Very well." I stood straight, with no further words. There was still madness in his eyes, but a certain clarity surged to the surface once he had caught sight of the teal rahkshi. With a sigh, I moved closer to Sim, who was just finding a seat. Despite our earlier conflict, I had to ask him what the nature of our guest was. IC: Sim - Infirmary "Alright, then," Whoever this rahk was, they knew Melody. I couldn't rightly get in her way while she helped someone else. "Sim." Oh no. Not again. "I was hoping," I said while staring at the floor, "That you hadn't noticed me." "Hmm. Who is this friend of yours?" "Excuse me? Whatever happened to, 'staying out of other's personal lives'?" There was no vice in my voice, only confusion. "This is my business Sim. Don't think I would have asked otherwise." "No, I suppose you wouldn't." There was no trace of emotion left in my voice, only empty wisps. "Her name is Melody. She means no harm to anyone, if that's what you're concerned about. There is a group here, that she helped to found I believe, that refuses to fight or quabble. More than likely the teal rahkshi belongs to them. "Wait!-" I grabbed her arm before she could walk away. "-Don't interrogate them. Melody and the others, they're... fragile." She nodded without even looking back at me, and casually walked away. I doubted that I would ever fully understand her.
  3. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water "Of weather.... winds-s-storms, ahnd then more." They were just mimicking Gaever's words at this point, but it did well for them to use more complete sentences. "You? What you? Weather?" IC: Slif - Gym Well, I'm down here already, might as well. I tried wrapping my arms around his legs, blood spurting out of my cut. IC: Fate - Infirmary "Know who- oh." Near the front of the infirmary, Sim had just walked back inside with the help of a small rahkshi. I scowled, and turned back to Spindle. "Yes, I know him. We met a long time ago, but he met me again today." I pinched at my forehead, still perturbed by earlier. "I suppose he means well, but he's an ussal-faced fool who never knows when to leave well-enough alone. "A better question though-" I glared at Spindle, "Is how you would know to point him out. Do you know him?"
  4. (OOC: Was it a bit of a rushed post? Yes. But I prefer being able to logically write in a name.) IC: Fate - Infirmary "Spindle, then. Now I don't have to keep thinking of you as 'patient'." I turned back to see Palma once again rushing to work for the newcomers. "Karz. She's back to work again." I sighed, and sat against the table with the extra armor. "I suppose that's how it's meant to be then. I apologize Spindle, it seems that you're going to be bed-ridden for the next day." In all honesty, the devices likely wouldn't have worked in the way I hoped. There would be no need for any kind of elemental siphons for an ice resistance rahk, all one would need would be sufficient heat absorbant coils. Maybe I could still use those, if destiny would have it. IC: Sim - Courtyard Despite all the casual, if rushed, talk in the courtyard, Melody seemed deathly silent as she dragged me on. In only minutes, we had reached the infirmary. Sadly, FAte was still inside, but she seemed preoccupied. Hopefully we didn't draw her attention. I didn't know how Melody would react to her... rigid, personality. IC: Slif - Gym Y'know, I was wondering when he'd go for my head. I lurched forward, the pommel bouncing harmlessly off of the very front of my shell. the lurch turned into a full-on headbutt, aimed at his center of mass. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water "Gaever!" They called. My, they were getting good at this speaking thing. "Why fog? From me?"
  5. OOC: I feel like I'm writing myself into a corner here, since Palma is Ultron's and he's not around anymore IC: Fate - Infirmary "What?" Why the sudden change of tone... "Oh, right." I collapsed the rifle, and returned it to it's hiding place. I looked at Palma again, and decided against the course of action. There was no telling if the devices actually worked as planned, and i wouldn't want to startle her as I did... the rahk who's name I had yet to learn. In spite of my indifference, since he seemed curious, and was becoming part of things anyway, I couldn't help but wonder. "I've realized I never learned your name." People usually gave their name if you gave yours, right? "I am called 'Fate'." IC: Slif - Gym "I dunno," I huffed, "I'd say we're about even." That was a lie. Or at least, half a lie. I could easily be bleeding out at the moment, at the rate my heart was pumping juices out of the tear in my skin. "How 'bout-" Huff "-Another minute, eh? Haha..." I lumbered closer, keeping my body low and my sticking my shell as forward as I could. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water Maybe they were broken? Maybe they weren't supposed to be making the fog. Well, no, the fog felt comforting, like it was a part of them. But this much, when they weren't trying? It just- Wait, trying? Could they try, and do it right? "Fog..." They mused again. Yes, they were going to try. They breathed in the cool, humid air, letting it fill their lungs to the brim. It felt good, like being wrapped in a blanket from the inside. Their eyes closed. It was right, this was right. They let the feeling spread, until it felt they were nothing but a warm mist. The fog ceased to leak, if only for a moment. For in the next moment, the fog burst from their frame, spreading across the ground and into the air. Their eyes opened, and saw nothing but the different shades of gray, shapes hanging lazily in the atmosphere. They opened their eyes to stare at the shape that was Gaever, and smiled. Though she could not see Phantom, she could likely see her eyes; glowing orbs that lit up the mist like spirits in the night.
  6. In light of a recent conversation with 0nuku, it's been pointed out that the direction I was going to go with Char's holster/chargers wouldn't be legal for the game. The idea was to charge up a single shot with whatever variation power she could absorb with it, but that falls under Ultron's multi-variation ban, which I had conveniently forgotten. :/ On top of that, 0nuku's description of how the chargers actually work differs from what I envisioned, so they can't even really absorb elemental energy. So the new thought process is that they might be able to be re-purposed as forge tools, or heated weapons, leeching heat from whatever powerful source she can find. (thoughts?)
  7. IC: Fate - Infirmary "Ah... I wasn't expecting that much of a reaction. I do apologize for that. Let me check on your shoulder..." Without moving my hand from his arm, I pried open the casing to inspect his kraata. It looked nearly the same as it had before, if just a little longer. Just then, my little contraption beeped, signalling it was full. "Hmm. I'll be right back." I had to test the device first. Exiting the infirmary, I ejected the rifle from my side, and aimed for the far end of the hall. I held the machine tightly, and let it prick my hand. The sensation was definitely not just a soft pinch, as the energy movement caused my muscles to spasm, pulling the trigger of the gun and letting an armor piercing round fly across the hall. "Karz..." I ran, not wanting to waste time. Coming close, I could see the stone writhing. Accuracy did instinctively seek out vulnerable points... it wasn't truly conclusive though. I ran back, and approached the patient. "Well, I still don't know if this really works. But I have a way to see if it does for sure, that will hopefully benefit the both of us." My attention turned to Palma, as she rested.
  8. IC: Fate - Infirmary "Well karz. That's rather hard to gauge... though, I suppose there's much less of a chance of overcharging." Just a quick test, that's all I needed. "Just..." I placed the small device against his arm. "One..." It primed, emitting a small whine. "Test." The spike tapped against his armor. If he felt it, it would have only been a gentle pinch. Or at least, it should have been.
  9. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water Gaever continued her work, now with an extra set of hands to help. As they labored, Phantom poured, and poured, thick, pale fog. They wondered why they did that. None of the other Rahk did it, or at least, as far as Phantom knew they didn't. It might get in the way sometimes, it was a little hard to see the ground when it's covered in a white mess. But... they liked it. It made them feel safe. "Fog..." It seemed it was just as much a part of them as Phantom on the Water was. "Why?" They said aloud. Not for Gaever, not for anyone but them. They didn't slow in their work, but the thought continued to recur. IC: Fate - Infirmary He was undeniably insane. But I had to give his warning some credit, the stare of the rahk in question was unyielding, and they bore signs of exhaustion, like those from a fight. It was possible.... "Well, if that's the case, then why don't you keep an eye on them for me? Hmm?" I spoke as I carefully removed the plates of my palm. What was left from the holster looked like an exposed battery, with a single, hornet-like stinger. "Might I ask you, what's your variation?"
  10. IC: Slif - Gym The sword cut into my flesh, and fluid spurted from the wound. I howled in pain, and withdrew. I covered the gash with my good hand, that arm had taken quite a beating. "Aah... You got me good." My hand wasn't doing any good, the blood just dripped between my fingers. I attacked again, this time using my claws instead of my closed fist to go for his waist. IC: Fate - Infirmary I turned to face him, with ice in my eyes. "I am aware of that fact." I spoke without emotion, but even I could not keep my displeasure from oozing out of my insides. Leaning in, I continued, "What I am questioning is; if there really are two people inside a single suit, how can you tell that the one I'm looking at is 'nice'?" I turned again, refusing to give into any antics of his. I had work to do with these holsters. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water "Ooooooohh," Yes, they decided, that would make more sense. They weren't sure why, but it did. They repeated their previous process, but instead fit different rocks into the wall before placing the mortar so they could find the best piece to the puzzle. In a few moments, there was another addition to the wall.
  11. This made me laugh so much
  12. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water Phantom didn't much know what "mortar" was, but if it was going to hold the stones together, then they would happily use it. They approached Gaever with such an aura of positivity that it seemed even the darkest of shadows would have smiled in response. Picking up a glob of the mortar in their hands and carefully moving it to the wall, they applied it to a set of stones, trying to mimic Gaever as much as possible. After feeling satisfied with their application of the mortar, they picked up another piece of rubble and fit it into the wall the best they could. It almost fit, but one side was too jagged to fit quite right. That wouldn't do. Without any degree of hesitation, they removed the stone and punched heavily through the jagged edge, hardly feeling the pain. It fit rather nicely now. Once again seeking approval, Phantom stared at Gaever. IC: Fate - Infirmary Two people in the same suit? How was that possible? "And just how can you tell I'm looking at the 'nice one'?" I say almost absentmidedly. I've lost interest in both my patient and his worries. I've reached the thighs of the deceased's suit, and something very interesting has just revealed itself. Two weapon holsters, one per leg, with advanced machinery inside. Not only that, it appeared to be incredibly similar to energy siphon technology. I wasted no time removing them for closer examination. Whoever had been using these before had been incredibly close-minded to the capabilities of this technology. I had to know what these could do. IC: Slif - Gym The shield knocked my fist to the side. I came in with the other fist, aiming for the inside of the shield as it turned. IC: Sim - Courtyard I smiled, and passively waited for conversation to turn to new subjects, until Melody brought up the infirmary again. "Well... I suppose there's no point in fighting her." I shrugged to Waiata, and relinquished my will to Melody.
  13. IC: Fate - Infirmary I raised an eyebrow and looked over at the rahkshi in question. They seemed passive enough, timid almost. "Oh will I?" I said, only slightly sarcastically, "Were they the one that did this to you?" I returned to my work of disassembling the suit, hoping the rahk would fall to sleep soon. IC: Sim - Courtyard "Sim, Sim Xire." I bowed to them, all while hoping they had distracted Melody enough to forget about the infirmary. IC: Slif - Gym Before I careened off the edge of the arena, I dug my claws into the stone pillar. I turned around and threw another punch at him. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the water "How.... workshap?" They gestured to the stones not yet placed.
  14. IC: Sim - Courtyard Shakily, I stood to my feet, nodding. I gave the blue rahk a hand up as well. "Thanks much, friend."
  15. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water The food sat nicely inside Phantom's stomach. Gaever didn't appear to be sitting well where they stood, though. No words were spoken, no actions made beyond awkward blinking and fidgeting. "Hmm." Phantom didn't know much of what to do either, so they didn't blame Gaever. Rather than wait around for nothing, Phantom stepped over to the short wall of rubble. An inquisitive stare was thrown Gaever's direction.
  16. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water There weren't a lot of words that they just understood there, but Hunger was one of them. There was really only one thing to do here, then. Gratefully accepting the bowl, Phantom upended the contents into their mouth. A brief moment passed before they swallowed. Did Phantom even know what food tastes like? Maybe not, in this reduced state of mind. Either way, they licked the edges of their mandables and handed the bowl back to Gaever, smiling all the way. They really didn't know what food tasted like if they liked this swill. IC: Slif - Gym Finally, I landed a decent hit! I stopped right where I had met him, but I charged again as soon as I got my footing. He was real close to the edge now, almost next to the pillar I had been pushed against just a second ago. This might be the last hit before I could knock him out of the ring... IC: Sim - Courtyard And I was back on solid ground, in the open. My pained breathing matched that of the rahk that had just helped Melody to retrieve me. I was out of the grave, but I was still quite stiff, and my snout was probably broken. I layed flat on te ground, whistling through my nose. I couldn't rightly get away from everyone now, so laying down like a stone seemed the best option. Before I could retreat into my shell, though, I saw Melody crawl up right behind me. "Thanks..." I whimpered a little. OOC: I don't want to take the time to write out Sim's speech problem right now, as you may have noticed earlier, but he still has it. IC: Fate - Infirmary "That should do it. Lay down on the table now, so you don't stress the wound open again." I closed the jar, and put it back on the cart. "If there were a rahk on hand who could sew, I would have them stitch the wound together. But we don't appear to have that luxury, so you have to do your best to move as little as possible over the next day."
  17. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the water Nourishment? What on earth did that mean? They pushed themselves up from the stream, shaking only a little. Whatever it was, they were sure it would be nice, so they nodded.
  18. IC: Slif - Gym I dove to the side, curling up into a ball as I went. It still cut into my chest , I could feel the blood oozing slowly from my armor. Somersaulting away, I unfolded into a crouched sprinting position, resting weight on my good hand. I had most of the arena between the two of us now, plenty distance for a charge of my own. Sand shot out behind me as I charged forward. OOC: Edit for info I did not know IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water Panting heavily, they nodded. They were still desperately tired from their days-long trek across the island. Despite the humid fog in the air, their mouth felt dryer than the dunes of Po-Metru. Of course, crouching in such a way put them in the perfect position to see the stream flowing just next to the pile of rubble. Slowly, like the dead rising from the grave, they stood upright and stumbled towards the water, falling face first into it the moment they drew near. They guzzled it down greedily, only pausing for the briefest moments to breathe.
  19. IC: Sim - Courtyard It was my own fault, really. All of this awkwardness. It didn't seem like anyone else was particularly perturbed, so I was probably just overthinking things. They were just lending a hand is all, no need to get upset over it. No need at all. Nope. ... I still shivered as the stretchy rahk was wrapped around my back. I became rigid, once again in stasis lock, to hopefully make myself easier to move. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water\ Another grin was released into the world as they set the stone on the ground. They stayed bent over, their hands supporting them on their legs. The mist seemed to leak even harder from their joints and seams. IC: Fate - Infirmary This! I held a jar full of some kind of pulp, or mulch. This I could use. While not many of the jars and bottles had descriptive wording, this one provided me with some useful knowledge. I quickly sanitized my hands at a wash station and approached him from the back. "I'm going to apply this to the wounds directly on your kraata. I may need to force some inside the wound as well, so be prepared for a brief sting..." His kraata case came off easily, the latches and seals taken care of quickly. The wound was made obvious to me immediately. Along the same line the gash in his armor had been, the skin to the unsightly slug had been torn through. I fingered it delicately, I didn't want to get to much of a reaction here. Removing just a small finger-full of pulp, I wet it slightly from the station, and gently applied it to the interior of the injury. IC: Slif - Gym Great. He was going on defensive. The pillar was right behind me now, my back touching the surface. I didn't want to wait around too long to let him figure out any openings, but I needed time to find them myself.
  20. OOC: For the sake of the narrative, and since Phantom is the only character of mine whose story is told in third person, I'll keep the reference to Gaever's name. XD (Totally thought she had said it out loud.) IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water The steel in their eyes was once again replaced with an innocent joy. Once again their vocabulary failed to provide the right words, so, for a thank you, they gave a clumsy, if grateful, bow. They weren't even sure why, but bowing somehow felt appropriate. "Gaever!" What a nice name. It seemed to fit her very well. They approached, feeling a sort of camaraderie, though not knowing quite how to express it. There had to be a better way to show thanks than whatever that had been... "Oh! *thud*" Once again the noise escaped their mouth. They turned around, and rushed into the fog, only to emerge again a moment later hauling a fair sized piece of structure. Clearly this was the first physical labor they had ever been involved in, their knees bent inwards and they struggled to keep the rubble in the air. IC: Sim - Courtyard I was happy to oblige Melody. ... Until I realized just how close she was about to get. But I couldn't say anything. That would only share the discomfort, and this had to happen anyway... IC: Slif - Gym "Eh. Don't expect too much, we are in a fight." Instead of taking the sword full on, I jumped back, landing near a border pillar.
  21. IC: ??? - Ruins on the Water "...Name..... yeh, Yeh!!" Their eyes sparked to life. They were missing a name! Gaever, Vyper, they all had names. Even this place had a name! Or, at least, it used to. "Name! Name, name, name..." But they couldn't think of anything! They didn't know any names that weren't taken already. Or, did they? Yes, yes there was just one name they knew that was currently unoccupied. A confident smile burst onto their face, and they stared straight into Gaever's eyes with a look of both delight and confidence. Their mouth opened, and a single word came out... IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water And it seemed as though the stars smiled with them.
  22. IC: Slif - Gym He hit the ground hard, leaving his legs even more exposed. My fist came down like a hammer towards his ankle... But I stopped. That could have easily crippled him. I scrabbled backwards, and stood back up, painfully waving my crushed hand. For once, the grin was missing from my face. Raw, red, rage, poured from my eyes, spilling out until I could see clearly again. My body twitched, still waiting for the other guy to stand back up. I was better than this. I wouldn't lower myself to the cruelty I'd seen in others. Even in myself. "Get up, can't rightly knock a rahk down while his belly is showing." A twitch brought a smile back to my face, and finally, I relaxed. "Maybe I'm a serf, or scum," I shrugged at the words, "But even I have standards." IC: ??? - Ruins on the Water "...I, mechmenist?" That was a possibility now, certainly. But they didn't really fancy putting rocks in piles.... "Or, Pentaghast, or Vyper!" They said aloud again. They didn't really know what they did, but they looked great while doing it. "Don't know..." There was something missing here. They needed something more before they could really decide what they wanted to be. Something Vyper had, as did Pentaghast, and Gaever... What was it? "Missing..." Their smile turned to a confused, if thoughtful, frown. IC: Fate - Infirmary Thinking back to the burp of blood, I should probably make sure he doesn't die from suffocating in his own fluids. "Hold on a moment, I need to find something to heal your kraata." I turned again to the body behind me. I had packed away the organs already, but I doubted I would have the expertise to apply them. The body didn't have any apparently useful modifications, aside from the odd insulation/padding applied to the interior armor. Come to think of it, that may have been an interesting mutation that allowed for improved cold resistance, which may have even been this rahk's ability. But that wasn't important now. After a quick run through, the only notable examples of technology were the holsters, which I doubted would help the situation. Grimacing, I turned my attention to Palma. We had entered a lull in traffic to the infirmary, a rare respite for Palma. I'd hate to bother her for something like this, but I'd hate to ruin the suit.... No. I don't need assistance, and I don't want assistance. "I am going to fix you," My voice is unwavering, decisive. "This won't take long." I began rummaging through the lower racks of the cart, sorting through bottle upon bottle of poultices and capsules. OOC: Geez, fate's was a tricky post to write today.
  23. IC: Slif - Gym The sword connected, and stuck in the space between my wrist and forearm. It hurt like Karz, but it wasn't nearly as bad off as the other hand thanks to it hardening. My fist continued on into the ankle of the 'knight'. Though slightly slowed down, it should definitely make an impact.
  24. IC: Slif - Gym My opponents foot cleared my hand just fast enough to not be grabbed, but not fast enough that he didn't feel my sharp claws dig through his ankle. I did feel a little bad about that one, that was a pretty cheap shot, but what can you expect from 'scum'? Suddenly a sharp pain ripped through my hand. I bellowed like an animal, anger and pain in my voice. Rage sparked to life in my veins, I felt hot. Hot inside my hand, in my head, I needed to get it out. My hand was stuck under his foot thanks to the friction from the sand. I felt my opposite hand, however, begin to harden in response. I don't have much, but I can be thankful for when my adaptation actually works for me. My other fist flew in from the side and straight for his ankle IC: ??? - Ruins on the Water They didn't know what a "species" was, but if being a species meant being a rahkshi, and being something else too, then that sounded exciting! "Me... too? Moare?" A grin bubbled up to their face like a sunrise after a cloudy night. The muscles felt stiff, but it was a good feeling to smile, still. IC: Fate - Infirmary A pair of tweezers in my hand, I plucked at his tentacle, gently. It would be very tender at this moment, after having been so freshly wounded. After seeing my patient interrupt his blank stare with a small whimper, I decided against trying to remove it. I'd have to shut off the pneumatics and pull them apart. Picking up a tiny screwdriver, I loosened the pressure to each individual pneumatic, allowing them to be freely moved. One by one, they were pushed aside to allow the tentacle to move. I was somewhat surprised that the control dock was intact underneath, I had assumed it would have been crushed under the malfunctioning armor. "The odd thing about rahkshi armor," I mused aloud, "Is that it's both organic and inorganic, at the same time. Not like a matoran, or skakdi, or anything like that, it's entirely metallic, and yet it gives us an extension of feeling that we wouldn't dream of having outside of them..." I fished a few spare parts out of the shoulder of my previous patient, and carefully inserted them into the shoulder. "There. Your control dock is fine, so you should have full range of mobility in no time. However, your siphons have all but been destroyed, so I've given you a new set. The arm should heal now, now that it has a steady energy flow from your body. You'll have to stay well-fed and hydrated for it to do it's work though, can't run on an empty tank." I took his old shoulder casing into my hands. For the most part it was fine, it's gash was only cosmetic, no important parts were broken. I gave my thumb a lick, and pushed firmly along the seem. The molecules comprising the armor slowly bent to my will, loosening to the point I could force them into place and reunite them with each other. After one slow pass was done, I smoothed the edges were my thumbs depression could be seen, until it looked almost as though it had never been touched. I continued the process on his kraata case, albeit without the thumb lick. I borrowed a little material from the corpse to use as a patch; most of the original material was still present but there appeared to be small chunks missing from it. Better safe than sorry, in the end.
  25. IC: Slif - Gym The shield slammed me upside the head, clacking my jaw together and possibly cracking a mandible. My brain rattled around in my head, and my vision doubled. Despite the ringing in my ears and the blood in my mouth, I still managed to force out, "Scum? You want scum?" My vision still slightly blurred, I lashed forward, feigning to go for the shield, but I fell and let my body slide, reaching out to grab his ankle. IC: ??? - Ruins on the Water Uhm.... that was a lot of big words. It seemed that everyone they had met so far was much more,er, complicated than themself. "O-oh..." They stuttered. "Ruhkshi... and mechmemist?" Could you be more than one thing? Could they be more than one thing?
