  1. It is indeed Bionicle related. I kinda had this idea where I would update it like monthly or something like that (if it gets any reader that is). So would that go in epics or short stories?
  2. So I just want to know if I could post a fanfic serial I've been working on, and if I could, where?
  3. I remember the lego magazine would always try and con you into buying Brickmaster. I also remember the months where they had this big thing selling Brickmaster issues and sets because it was being cancelled and I was like "finally. Now I won't have this cluttering up my Lego stuff".
  4. It technically isn't a change. These aren't the Toa Mata; this is evident not just in the fact that Lego confirmed that this is a rebooted universe, but the characters themselves are fundamentally different. (I'm looking at you, Kopaka)
  5. Kopaka Nuva shooting a skyblaster. I know they "officially" look like guns firing, but the laser blast thing looks so cool IMO.
  6. Dang it, you beat me to it! That's what I've been calling them, too. They are the new Toa Nuva, so of course they are the Toa Newva. Didn't people already use that term in 2008 for that exact reason? Besides, the new Toa aren't in their Nuva forms, and possibly never will be. ~B~ Hopefully never will be. This is a reboot, but it doesn't have to stay within the same guidelines of "New Toa, transformed new Toa" year after year. Shake it up a bit, eh?
  7. I noticed the issues with the Toa Kaita when reading the books/comics. Perhaps there could be limitations..? Like they need a mask of fusion or a magical artifact that would make them unite. Or maybe it takes a tremendous amount of energy, like a nova blast, and needs time to recharge.
  8. I think that's a rather dismissive attitude. Identity is a complex thing, and a fandom name can help to define parts of that. I would consider myself an AFOL but that's not to say that I define my entire sense of being according to my age or my love of Lego. But it helps to convey one of my dedicated interests to others quickly and effectively. It's not my whole identity, but it is a part of my identity, and a significant one to mention when I'm trying to relate to others who might share the same interests. It'd be nice, I think, if the Bionicle fandom in general could agree on a shared identifier, so that they could raise their public profile and help to dismiss the common notion that Bionicle is "kid's stuff" or "not real Lego". Yes, that comes with the risk that the connotations of that name might not all be positive, especially if the more mature and sensible fans allow other, less reasonable fans to leave more of an impression on outsiders. But I don't think that's the only possible outcome by a long shot. But the folks who do want a fandom name can't seem to agree on one and the folks who don't are a constant presence, so I suppose the point is moot. I don't know. There seems to be a pretty strong consensus on Chroniclers or Bio-Chroniclers(as Willess12 mentioned). I just don't really think we need a name. Bionicle fans seem pretty concentrated in places like BS01, Bzpower, etc. Without a larger reach, there's no need for fandom identification.
  9. I never thought of that. I guess my mind could have been subliminally driving me to do that for this very reason XD
  10. That's the thing: it doesn't matter what name we come up with here, there's always a possibility that the next year will feature another Toa team with that name. Maybe 2016 will give us the Toa Okoto, maybe it will give us the Toa Masters, maybe even the Toa Newa. I'm guessing TLG is going by 2001 logic here: as long as there are no other Toa teams, we don't need a name to differentiate them. There are other Toa teams though. The ones from Bionicle-prime(what I'm calling the original Bionicle universe). The unofficial designation of "Toa Okoto" or "Masters" or whatever, would differentiate them better than just "Toa". And what if (just speaking hypothetically) next year introduces a DIFFERENT Toa team and calls them the Toa Okoto? If you need a specific name to refer to the 2015 Toa by, "2015 Toa" is probably the only one that is specific but has no risk of becoming obsolete. It hardly seems likely that a different Toa Okoto would show up. But if they did, it seems like the fans would make up a new name for the Masters. Although we shouldn't be worrying about a new Toa team at this stage, before we even have the first wave of '15 Bionicle. Also, it's a fan name anyway. Obsolete isn't something we have to concern ourselves with.
  11. Here's Onua, the best I could do from the promo images viewed on a phone. And Pohatu. I think the legs look off...too big. And the feet aren't as detailed as I would like, but I'm satisfied with the product overall. Let me know what you think!
  12. So do you guys think that the Toa Kaita will make a return? Will you MOC them if they don't? And has anyone made a decent MOC of Akamai or Wairuha from the 08 Toa Nuva?

  14. I love them! Especially the Kakama and Akaku. But all of them have spectacular detail! Keep up the good work mate.

    Thok

Thanks for the good review! I noticed the feet too late in the process of drawing it...that happens more often than you might think, especially when going for an upper body shot and you make it too small. The teeth, spine, and zamor all were little things I picked up from the artwork of Stuart Sayger. He didn't do detailed very often, but his drama and emotive lighting was perfect for the piraka so I always draw them with Sayger-esque appearance.
  16. It does. When I first heard the name Okoto, my mind just sorta sprang out with "TOA OKOTO". Although Masters I suppose would work as well.

A sketch of Thok I did a few months ago. Let me know what you think.
  18. Looks like you're asking about the member title and yearly masks. The member title corresponds to your post rank, which changes depending on the amount of posts you have. The yearly masks, which are the spinning masks next to your proto bar, are indicators for how many years you've been on BZPower since you joined. For example, Windrider has this yearly mask: . This is the 11th yearly mask; thus, Windrider has been on BZPower for at least 11 years. You can find a more detailed explanation here in the Q&A Compendium. Make sure to check it out fairly often when you have a few questions. It may answer some of your questions. -Rez Thank you. In retrospect, I probably should have looked for the Q&A section first. Also, I wonder what my old bzp account has for a yearly mask...
  19. He's still a whirlwind though. Which kinda upsets me, since his biggest plus for me was the stone powers. I am quite upset that even though they have masks of their elements they don't have total control over said element. At least Pohatu doesn't anyway...Also, I can't stand those blatant flaws they put in the characters' personalities. The original Toa all had character flaws, from Mata to Mahri. But they were less obvious, you had to know the characters to know what they were good at or not good at. The obnoxious and obvious inclusion of these forced character flaws is just a lazy writing tool for writers who don't care to invest time and energy and thought into a character. I also feel that it's a lazy way of trying to convey the characters to young audiences as "not perfect". Simple reading of the comics of the old story, not to mention the books/online serials, would provide a wealth of well-rounded characters with good and bad traits. And as the guy up there ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ said, Lewa is basically Matau. Now that you mention it, his mask does fit in really well with them. But back on topic, I am sad that the mask don't have the powers they had in the original story. But as others have pointed out, they could still come into it later on. And I think it is going to cool seeing a story with the Toa Mata without their mask powers and just their elemental powers. It could make the story more interesting. Time will tell on that. Toa Okoto*
  20. What should we call the new Toa? We can't just call them Toa, since that will add confusion. The BS01 just archives the real--I mean the old Toa into gen 1 page, and utilizes the names of the Toa for the reboot. I suggest we leave the old pages in their proper place, and call the reboot Toa the Toa Okoto. Any other suggestions will be appreciated though. Who has ideas?
  21. I, being low on finds, am keeping my fingers crossed in hope for winning that Twitter thing for all six Toa hahaha. But when that doesn't happen, I'll buy Pohatu first because Pohatu was who introduced me to Bionicle back in Christmas of 04. So Pohatu is the obvious choice, then Kopaka.
  22. So I'm not sure if there's already a thread for this (if there is please link me to it) but I would like to know how to customize my posts. Signatures, the funky words with the name, the masks....it has been years since I've done this, so if someone could give me a refresher, let me know
  23. The whole idea of naming a fandom, finding identity in entertainment, is foolish. We like Bionicle. While we call ourselves fans, we aren't actual fanatics(see "Hiddlestoners" for clarification). We like Bionicle. Let's just leave it at that, eh?
  24. Emotional rollercoaster from Bionicle 2015.
