  1. I've always found the massively long lifespan of Bionicle beings a bit mind-boggling. I mean, it means a bit of sense for Matoran Universe beings, because they're designed by the Great Beings out of protodermis which is apparently extra-durable. But what about the Glatorian, Agori, et cetera, who evolved naturally, apparently without the help of sufficiently advanced technology like the Great Beings seem to have? How exactly did they each survive 100,000 years in an environment that we've already seen to be extremely harsh?

Like, take the Glatorian matches. Suppose a Glatorian fights one match per month, and only sustains a major injury every 120 matches. That's only one injury every 10 years. Divide the time since the Shattering by that, and that's... 10,000 injuries over a single Glatorian's lifespan. Wow. And only one of those needs a severe infection to kill the Glatorian. How are they still alive? Did Energized Protodermis make them biologically immortal or something? (Actually, come to think of it, that's a brilliant theory for their amazing lifespan.)

But that's why I lean toward the theory that Bionicle time is measured in Spherus Magna years, which are significantly shorter than Earth years. But that has potential ramifications for things like weeks and months and other units mentioned. Wasn't there a theory that Mata Nui days had 18 hours, though, based on the Great Sundial's markings? That could explain everything. I'd try and calculate what "100,000 years" would be if each day was only 18 hours, but my brain is half-asleep right now and thinks math is stupid. :P

First, agrees with your brain that math is stupid (half kidding).

Second, its true that when I think real hard the lifespans of Spherus Magnans sounds "mind-boggling", but then...these are technically aliens (ALIENS!) we're talking about, who are we to tell them how long their lives are or aren't.

One, last thing, I remember Greg saying that in human years Ackar was about in his fifty's, yet if you've seen "The Legend Reborn" you might think that that's not old enough for someone of his age. Thus, the harsh conditions of Bara Magna have perhaps reduced their lifespans, similar to how most humans died in their 50's - 70's until the advent of modern medicine.

Sorry, if this sounds disjointed, but my point is that it is completely reasonable (if you use a little imagination :P) that BIONICLE years can be equal to human years.

Hope this helps until someone smarter than me can answer this better. :P

  2. Britain hasn't been invaded since 1066. Unless you count dead Nazis on the shore.

Britian has been invaded about 70 times since 1066. [Source.]

The U. S. Supreme Court building has a full sized basketball court.

Danial Sickles fought in the Civil War and lost his leg at Gettysburg to a cannon ball. While, being loaded in the stretcher, he heard that some of the men thought he was dead, so Sickles ordered someone to light a cigar to dispel any rumors that he had stopped breathing.

Before, the war, Sickles killed the son of Francis Scott Key, and his lawyer (future U. S. Secretary of War) Edwin Stanton used the first successful temporary insanity plea in U. S. history.

Beer was invented by Monks in a monastery.

Germany was the first country to use Daylight Savings Time.

France has a special military unit known as the French Foreign Legion (FFL), comprised mostly of non-French mercenaries. The FFL's main benefit is that the men can die horribly without any French caring too much.

One FFL commander is quoted as having said, "You Legionaries, you are soldiers meant to die and now I'm sending you to a place where you can do it!"

The Thirty Years War (1618-1648) was the deadliest European conflict up to that time and was not "outdone" until World War 1.

Scotland is planing to hold a referendum to decide whether or not it will make a bid for independence, this September.

Scotland chose to join England in 1707, after losing a fifth of their country's wealth trying to establish a colony in Panama.

Well, that's ten so I think I'll stop.

As to why we think their great (which, as Katuko wonderfully points out, they are) is because we all grew up here Vakama's old legends about how the Great Beings were suppose to be the creator of Mata Nui, the gods of the god, if you will.

And they still are, that is the wonderful part of it. :) Nothing has really changed. They still created the Matoran and the entire Great Spirit robot (two of them, even) from scratch, on planet that was soon to explode. They can also directly affect their creations (Velika even made Tren Krom explode somehow). Even though they didn't do all the work by materializing the metal out of thin air with mind powers, building the MU at all is still an achievement of truly epic proportions; something I doubt any other characters in BIONICLE could hope to achieve at this point.

Yeah, like I said I completely agree with you, that the Great Beings are still great (and your examples, definitely helped jog my memory); I was just trying to offer a reason as to why everyone has such great expectations of the Great Beings.

I completely agree about how, "Blessed are they who expect nothing for they shall never be disappointed." And I also agree that "getting closer to the truth is suppose to be enjoyable," no matter what the truth really is.

And you know I've never actually really sat down and questioned the morality of the Great Beings actions. Weird.

So yeah, bonesii, you and Katuko are right.

...If anyone thinks I'm just over thinking this stuff just tell me and I'll try to be content.

    Probably this. :P

Alright, thanks for the heads up. :P

Anyway, if we're talking personal preference, then I think the Agori and Glatorian both have three fingers and a thumb, but when the Great Beings were looking for inspiration for their MU creations they went, "Nah, lets add a fifth finger."

  6. First, *Likes*,

Second, man I'm really impressed by the amount of work your putting into this (Bionicle Fighter); give the game a quality others lack.

On, the actual aiming system, I still need to try out that demo some time, but from your description I can't wait until it's integrated into the game.

The first thing I'm going do is play a Toa with a shield and some ranged weapon so I can advance on my enemies like a one Toa phalanx.

  7.

And if you say, "That's because they needed to follow the sets," then should we say that the MU inhabitants sets "trump" their movie appearances?

No, it would be the opposite. The sets are obviously not the most realistic way to portray a BIONICLE character, so the first three movies generally trumps their sets. In The Legend Reborn the style is pretty much the LEGO set form, so neither of them really trumps the other. The Glatorian don't look very organic at all, for example, despite being estimated as 85% organic by Greg. Thus trying to guess at the finer aspects of their canonically organic anatomy from decidedly non-organic models is futile.

Well, that definitely makes sense...a lot of sense. Although, doesn't that leave us (or maybe just me :P) still wondering, how many fingers a Glatorian has?

...If anyone thinks I'm just over thinking this stuff just tell me and I'll try to be content.

  8. I hope solo artists count too...

Taylor Swift - "Mine" "You Belong with Me" "I Knew you Were Trouble"

Krystal Meyers - "In your Hands" "Feel so RIght"

Avril Lavigne - "I Love You" "Everybody Hurts"

    Britt Nicole - "Gold" "Headphones"

Kacey Musgraves - "Silver Lining" "Stupid"

The Band Perry - "If I Die Young" "Done"

Chvrches - "The Mother We Share" "Night Sky" "Gun"

The songs might change and the bottom three artists might come and go, but I think this list is pretty accurate.

  9.

Strange, that no ones brought this up before.

    It's been brought up before.

We pretty much concluded the Matoran species is supposed to have 5 fingers. The most "real" appearance we have seen of the characters were in the movies, where they had 5. In other media we only see LEGO pieces for hands, or in the case of BIONICLE: The Game we see some version of the two-finger claws that the Toa Mata sets used.

    Well, I'll be a Muaka's dinner...

What about the Glatorian and Agori in the Legend Reborn? If that was their most "real" appearance, then they all have four fingers instead of five.

And if you say, "That's because they needed to follow the sets," then should we say that the MU inhabitants sets "trump" their movie appearances?

(And yes, I might be just over thinking this, but still :P)

  10.

Yes, absolutely. The reason the sets don't have them is probably because it would be hard to put (good looking) fingers on sets.

Speaking of, has it been confirmed how many digits are on a Matoran/Toa/Turaga's hand? I automatically draw them (Agori/Glatorian included) with five digits -- perhaps fewer with slightly less human-looking races -- so I just assume five.

We really only have the movies to tell us this, interestingly I just checked the Legend Reborn and found that all the Spherus Magnans only had four digits, just like their sets.

Yeah, but I thought that was due to the filmmakers trying to make them more set-accurate. It'd be like aliens getting their hands on a minifig and saying "welp, guess that means humans have only two digits on each hand." *shrug*

I guess this means no one has anything to say about the Nervous System XD

In earlier movies, MU Inhabitants are shown with 5 digits, so there isn't really a consistent answer. I swear there was a Greg Answer, but I wouldn't begin to know where it is.

Greg is still over at the LEGO Message Boards, so it's possible we could run this by him over there and hope to get an answer.

Also, it might be possible that the MU people have five digits and that the SM people only have four.

  11. Unfortunately, unless someone can find a quote in one of the BIONCILE books that say something to the effect of, "Tahu counted his fingers and saw that there were five," that's about all we know about BIONICLE digits.

Strange, that no ones brought this up before.

  12.
