  1. This is not good, because other users won't be able to see your reasoning.
  2. ?? I don't know what you are referring to here. Which word in this sentence do you not understand?
  3. But were they planned to be explained in a way they were explained? I have nothing against the "world in a robot" concept, but not against the execution of this concept. Same here. Then why the holy crackers did he write a setting in a way he doesn't have a great grasp on?
  4. That's the problem. Different authors have different visions, and one of them goes full M-MUH PROGRAM M-MUH GLITCHES M-MUH ROBOTS M-MUH HIGH-TECH EXPLANATIONS FOR EVERYTHING M-MUH GREAT BEINGS.
  5. Should the matoran have had element-equals-gender restriction? The same answer probably goes here.
  6. It's fantasy, and it has blasters, robots and spaceships - but Bionicle suddenly can't be fantasy because of this. The Four Gods of Chaos, psykers and working holy relics refute this opinion of yours.
  7. You described here Heroes of M&M, a strategy spin-off of M&M. Is Warhammer 40K sci-fi? This.
  8. But why then Bionicle can't be defined as, for example, space fantasy of sorts? Is travelling via spaceships, wearing high-tech suits and restoring an antient weapon facility central to the story?
  9. Shadowrun. Also, early Might & Magic games were set on worlds being... space stations. With ancient robots and lasers in deep dungeons. But they were fantasy games nonethless.
  10. No, it's not that simple - because "Bionicle is sci-fi" misconception is applied on worldbuilding level by Greg himself (what Boidoh wrote) and thus has leaded to numerous issues.
  11. Why do you think that space stations are giant robots? And why can't elves be achieved via genetics or such?
  12. What defines this possibility (and impossibility in case of elves)?
  13. Let's see. EPs allow to do stuff-that-modern-science-can-not, and they're somehow sci-fi. Wizards and elves can do stuff-that-modern-science-can-not, and they're somehow fantasy. Why?
  14. Then how the holy crackers are fantasy and sci-fi differed in here? >ever implying LoTR has the One Ring falling into the volcano, therefore gravity is also important for the story. Mm?
  15. But if mind reading can be real, why not aforementioned elves and wizards? Who's to say they aren't? Maybe they're just really good at keeping their nature hidden. But is this a reason to say that they're sci-fi?
  16. But if mind reading can be real, why not aforementioned elves and wizards?
  17. So, talking trees and elves are not scientific nor possible, but fireball-shooting/air-creating/psy-mindcracking robots who can also unite to form SUPAH RAWBOT and have powers of animating dead, manipulating probabilities and such suddenly are both?
  18. So, LotR is sci-fantasy? ATLA is sci-fantasy?
  19. It is a misconception applied to the setting on the worldbuilding stage.
  20. The most glaring misconception: BIONICLE is sci-fi.
  21. I guess I found the main problem.
  22. All elements as subpowers of the main six (except psionics, they're WAY too broad to be an element). Deal with it.
