  1. Anyone else keep reloading his FB page hoping the update will appear? I've even set it to notify me when he makes a new post. But I'm not obsessed or anything. #sarcasm
  2. I seriously doubt he'd get our hopes up like this just to reveal that they're never coming out. Worst case scenario, the update will say that they're still being worked on and it'll be a while. But since it's already been several months since the MoL soundtrack, I'm inclined to think we'll be getting them sooner than later. Here's hoping the update will consist of an estimated pre-order/release date and a track list!
  3. It also pops up towards the end of "The Fall of Ta-Koro", I think in the part when he jumps onto his lavaboard. Great review, by the way! Very well written and really captures what makes this music so iconic and memorable, especially as a stand-alone element, as well as why it's held up so well and maintained its cult status after all these years.
  4. Mark Hamill as Teridax. Brandon Keener as Lewa. Doug Cockle as Kopaka. Seth Green as Takua/Takanuva. Keith David as Lhikan. Jennifer Hale as Helryx. Martin Sheen as Turaga Dume. Raphael Sbarge as Vakama. Ash Sroka as Nokama. Morgan Freeman as Mata Nui. That's all I got for now. Edit: Helen Mirren as Helryx. Jennifer Hale as Gali. Grey DeLisle as Tuyet.
  5. These are beautiful! Thanks for making them! I know it's a tall order, but I do hope you're able to do Adventures and Legends. And I doubt these will need to be taken down. Like Skeleton said, it's not like Scholastic is losing anything off of these. One last thing: the Journey's End link doesn't seem to be working, but luckily that one is on BioMedia Project with all the story serials.
  6. "Stretch out my vowels" should be in there somewhere.
  7. I figured I'd start this topic just for funsies. Anyway, now that Nathan Furst's wonderful Bionicle: Mask of Light soundtrack has been out for a couple of weeks and many fans (including me) have most likely listened to that masterpiece several times over by now, I'm curious to know what everyone's favorite track (or list of favorite tracks) on the album is. Personally, I think all 18 tracks are amazing and it's hard to narrow down which ones I like best. Since I can't quite decide on a definitive favorite, here's my top 3: Unity, Duty, Destiny Toa Reunited and Death of Jaller Legend of the Bionicle A few additional tracks that are major highlights for me: A Great Kanohi Mask Koli Tournament Toa Lewa Helps Destruction of Onu-Koro (I get chills every time I hear that guitar mixed in with the orchestra in the scene where Tahu is being possessed) A Simple Game of Koli So...do you have a favorite track or a list of favorites? If so, feel free to share them. If you want to rank the entire album that would also be cool.
  8. There's nothing wrong with adults enjoying kid-oriented products as a pastime, whether it's something they grew up with or not. People do this all the time. It's called being a geek.
  9. Here's mine. Studio: Disney (I mean, they own just about everything else now, so why not?). Possible directors: James Gunn or the Russo Brothers. Possible music composers: Nathan Furst, Jack Wall, Tyler Bates, or Henry Jackman. Genre: A mix of action/adventure, sci-fi, and fantasy, with dystopian undertones. Era: Several years after the re-forming of Spherus Magna. Premise: Many years have passed since Mata Nui sacrificed his corporeality to restore the world of Spherus Magna and retreated into the Mask of Life. The Matoran, Agori, and most of the other former residents of Aqua Magna and Bara Magna have adjusted to the new world rather well over time. However, a new secret evil faction consisting of the surviving villains from the history of Bionicle has begun to set a sinister plan in motion. Suddenly, in a tragic turn of events, the protectors of the Matoran and Agori are killed off over time, including the Toa Nuva, Toa Mahri, and even the Glatorian. As this happens, the Matoran and Agori are rounded up and taken captive for unknown purposes. In a desperate effort to save society from certain destruction, the Mask of Life targets the six Turaga of Metru Nui (Vakama, Nokama, Matau, Onewa, Whenua, and Nuju), restores them to their original Toa forms, and hides most of them in alternate dimensions to prevent the evil faction from finding and killing them. Some time later, Vakama awakens, completely flabbergasted to find himself a Toa once again. He is soon brought to Mata Nui, who has restored himself to the Glatorian-sized body he used on Bara Magna. Mata Nui informs Vakama of the situation and charges him with the task of retrieving the other five Toa from their separate dimensions, as they are the last hope for saving the Matoran (again) and Agori from the clutches of the evil faction, as well as bringing an end to them [the evil faction]. Before you ask: Yes, this plot idea was heavily influenced by Mass Effect 2. I've even pictured the soundtrack from that game being used with scenes in this imaginary film. It would probably need to be proof-read by lore experts to make sure it's free of logic errors and plot holes. The entire premise might be one big lore contradiction for all I know, but I don't care. As for the tone and content of the movie, I envision it being tailored to old fans of Bionicle who are now adults; meaning the dialogue would be much more complex and less kid-friendly, and there would be mature/R-rated content such as violence and perhaps even swearing. There would also be romance (most likely between Vakama and Nokama) because screw the stupid "love isn't canon" thing. Obviously this will never happen, but I for one would totally watch it. And the title of the forum is, after all, "Your Dream Cinematic Bionicle Movie".
  10. Turns out Mr. Furst's copies of the Legends of Metru Nui music aren't as "lost" as he previously indicated, as he just posted the entire prologue track from that film on YouTube. This will make a fine addition to the custom album I've been working on, I think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzwH5_u4l64&feature=youtu.be Hopefully he'll upload some more pieces, and with any luck one of them will be the epilogue track to the same film which I really want.
  11. Do you have a link to the Facebook post/comment/whatever where he mentioned the hard drive crash? Here it is. https://www.facebook.com/NathanFurst/posts/787434911327041
  12. What you have is just the standard menu loops, end credits, and any parts of the movie that happened to not have many sound effects. We're more interested in the massive amount of material that has yet to be released, officially or unofficially. Eh, there's a playlist containing quite a lot of stuff, I don't think that much is missing. For the record, I put together my own version of the scores, compiling most of the salvageable music from the DVDs with the original cues that have been made available on SoundCloud and Nathan Furst's old website (plus the recently posted MoL opening from YouTube), which is about 45 minutes combined. That's 45 minutes devoted to pretty much ALL of the available music from the whole trilogy, not counting music from the actual films (except the end credits). All three films were roughly 75 minutes each and had music in almost every scene, which adds up to 225 approximated minutes of music. 225 - 45 = 180. And I'm also counting certain menu loops which didn't even show up at all in the films. Yeah, that's a lot of missing music. Just sayin'.
  13. Here are alternate versions of some of the tracks. The track "Time" was removed (with the menu loop included there transferred to the end of "Lhikan") and replaced with "We Are Toa", the Web of Shadows end credits segment was removed from "The Last Stand", and the new ending track is "The Way of the Bionicle", which is a combination of the end credits medleys of both Web of Shadows and Legends of Metru Nui. Track 6 (Alternate Track Listing): Lhikan Track 10 (Alternate Track Listing): The Last Stand Track 13 (Alternate Track Listing): The Way of the Bionicle
  14. Thanks! Yeah, I don't think there was a single menu loop from LoMN that showed up in the film at all. I always loved the alternate recording of Lhikan's theme that played in the main menu loop though, and was pleasantly surprised that the Metru Nui Explorer had a non-SFX version of it.
  15. Hello, fellow Bionicle fans – I present to you my own custom-made version of some of my favorite film music of all time: the unreleased scores from the Bionicle Trilogy, composed by musical mastermind Nathan Furst. This does not include the score to the fourth film, Bionicle: The Legend Reborn, which I consider to be The Last Airbender (Shyamalan film) of the Bionicle franchise. In all honesty, I even found the score to that film to be pretty forgettable, which is unusual for me considering I like a lot of scores from really bad movies (Eragon, The Last Airbender, Transformers, Star Wars Prequels). Anyway, my take on this hard-to-find score combines the elements from all known sources of stand-alone music from the films: the menu loops from the DVDs, the end credits medleys from the films themselves, and a number of original cues downloaded from Nathan Furst’s website and SoundCloud, plus one from YouTube. The pieces are arranged so that they segue into one another in an attempt to make it as cohesive a listening experience as possible. I used Audacity to merge the cues and perform editing. My goal with this fan-made score is not only to provide as much of the salvageable music as possible in the best quality available, but also to present it in a format that is at least somewhat consistent with the standards of an actual original score album. Apart from the end credits medleys, no music was taken directly from the films. Believe me, if I could just somehow magic away the dialogue and sound effects from the film audio I would upload the complete scores in a heartbeat, because this truly is a masterpiece of a score that deserves to be listened to in its full glory exactly as it plays out in the films. Most unfortunately, a method for such a procedure only exists for DVDs that have the music completely isolated on two sound channels (as far as I know), and the Bionicle DVDs are not among those. Sadly, it is highly unlikely at this point that an actual album will be released; Mr. Furst himself has even stated that most of the score will not be released for a number of undisclosed reasons. Hopefully my custom Bionicle score project, along with the projects by other fans that proliferate the internet, will help to fill the void in case a release of an official album does not come to pass. I hope you enjoy it. The score consists of 13 tracks and is just over 40 minutes long, which is the average length of a typical OST release for one film. I have not uploaded it to a file sharing service, as I'd like to see what people think of it before I consider that. You can listen to them on YouTube by following the links below. Track 1: The Mask of Light Track 2: Mata Nui Track 3: Unity, Duty, Destiny Track 4: Legends of Metru Nui Track 5: The Great Disks Track 6: Lhikan Track 7: Time Track 8: A Web of Shadows Track 9: Visorak Track 10: The Last Stand Track 11: Keetongu Track 12: End of the Beginning Track 13: We Are Toa It is fairly likely that I will add frequent updates of these tracks. Almost every time I listen to them there is almost always a segue or something where I think “eh, that could have been better…” Just FYI. An update will also occur in the event that Nathan Furst releases more stand-alone music from the films on one of his music sharing outlets, if he manages to find more; lately he seems to have been having trouble finding the music in his archives. There is actually one specific unreleased piece of music that I think would make this custom album perfect: the entire ending/epilogue music from Legends of Metru Nui. It is one of my personal favorite pieces in the entire trilogy, and I think it sums up all three films perfectly. I would be very happy if I could add that track to the end of this album, as it already contains a good portion of my favorite cues and themes from the trilogy and I feel it would give the album a good sense of completion. I desperately hope that Nathan Furst comes across a copy of that track and decides to post it online. Seriously, that track is amazing. If you have any information on the possible existence of a non-SFX, dialogue-free copy of that beautiful track please share your info with me. I highly doubt it exists online at this time, but I'm just putting that out there.
  16. Wait... read that last part more closely.... Find? Find? Either he has poor word choice or he's lost his own copies of the files (I'm sure Lego and/or Mirmamax still have all the separate audio stems). By the way... if you didn't know already, I put together unofficial soundtracks for each film using the films' respective 5.1 audio tracks. They're pretty SFX-heavy, but I was able to squeeze out a lot of good music. If you haven't listened to it already you might be interested in what I've done. Someone should try to get some sort of interview with him... TheThreeVirtues, BZP, Mask of Destiny - anyone - and just ask about what reasons there are that he's not allowed to release the music. I'd also love to hear some inside info about how he was told to make the music sound, how much collaboration he had with the sound design team, how much freedom he had in deciding what the tone of the music should be, etc. He also said on Facebook that he lost Legends of Metru Nui in a "bad drive crash"... I really hope he has backups of the soundtracks somewhere. I would imagine he'd make a lot of those in his line of work. I did give your unofficial OSTs a look. Nice work, though it is a pity that so many pesky SFX carried over into those two back channels. Still, pretty good job considering what you had to work with. I've actually been working on my own custom score compiling all of the online sources of stand-alone music I know of - the cues from Nathan Furst's website, the two tracks he uploaded to SoundCloud, and the one he posted on YouTube - with the menu loops and end credits medleys from the DVDs. I've basically put them together in a bunch of suites, with the menu loops segueing into each other. So it's more like what you'd typically find in an original soundtrack release; embellishment of a lot of music from the actual movie and a completely non-chronological arrangement of the music. I'll consider posting it on BZP if I ever finish it. I say "if" because almost every time I listen to it there's almost always a segue or fade-in/out or something like that where I think "eh, that could have been better..."
  17. Yeah, you're probably right, but I figured it was worth a shot. I really do think they're some of the best scores ever and it's a shame they haven't been released.
  18. Hey everyone, I started a petition on Change.org to get Miramax, The LEGO Group, and Buena Vista to release the complete scores from all three BIONICLE movies. If you've waited all these years to hear Nathan Furst's amazing music from the films on its own without any sound effects or dialogue like I have, now there's something you can do to try and make that happen! Please, if you like the music of the BIONICLE movies and want to see it released, please consider signing this petition and sharing it as much as possible. Follow the link to sign the petition: https://www.change.org/p/buena-vista-home-entertainment-the-lego-group-miramax-release-the-complete-scores-from-all-three-bionicle-movies-on-cd-and-or-itunes Thanks.
