  1. IC: Brontes and Kimala, huh? Interesting... Verulas and Kellin had already introduced themselves when they had captured the Makuta-worshipping Ta-Matoran the first time around back at the hospital, so there wasn't any knew info there. It was, however, nice to know that someone else was in the dark about the Titan's identity, but he had a vibe that the big guy didn't think to highly of him anyway, so he wasn't going to pursue it anytime soon." Whatever. To each his own. "Ah," he said at the mention of the Ko-Toa still inside the city. "Well, let's hope for his sake that he got out okay." The Bo-Toa sensed that Brontes wasn't telling him everything on that particular subject, but he knew better than to start prying. "Actually, no," he said when the subject changed to the cable car. "I was under the impression that it was down the last time I was in Ta-Koro, and I took a longer route on foot to get back when I heard about the attack on the city. It would've saved me some travel time if I knew it worked."
  2. IC: Verulas saw the Crystal-Toa close her wound out of the corner of his eye. He had to give her credit; he'd seen people pass out from the likes of the wound she arrived at the hospital with alone. "So," he said, trying to change the topic of their conversation to anything as long as it wasn't about the mercs. "You seem to have me at a disadvantage, Sparky; you know my name while I don't know the names of the majority of the defenders. Care to fill me in?"
  3. OOC: Daniel, Verulas wasn't assuming that Enforcer was the group leader; he just wanted him at the meeting as well for negotiations. IC: Verulas caught up to the Vo-Toa as the Crystal-Toa handed him some injured Matoran, even though Sparky looked like he was ready to take them instead. "Uh, sure... No problem..." He looked over at the Vo-Toa and shrugged. He was about to hand one of them off to him when the Fe-Toa mercenary sped by them and dumped a sled in his hand. The Bo-Toa suspected that the message he had left with the Vortixx had been delivered. He smiled at the Vo-Toa's complaints and shook his head. "Yeah, the nerve of some people," he said. "Sorry about earlier. Merc talk sometimes gets a bit boring. Didn't want to put you to sleep."
  4. IC: Verulas watched the Vo-Toa take off to lend a hand to the Crystal-Toa, hoping that he didn't get the wrong impression after implying that he wanted to be left alone for a moment. Sparky was good at making conversation and he didn't want to upset him. The Bo-Toa turned back to the tattooed Vortixx, his smile now gone as a look of utter seriousness plastered his face. "I'm just going to cut the Karz and skip the smalltalk, since it's not getting me anywhere and I don't feel like being interrupted again," he said as he removed a pouch containing fifty widgets from his belt and threw it into the other merc's hands. Sometimes being a mercenary meant knowing the where and when of spending money as well as making it. "Do me a favor; inform your group leader and the other Vortixx, when he's done conversing with the Titan that is, that I would like to begin "negotiating" future "employment opportunities" as soon as possible, preferably when nobody else is around." He then moved to catch up to the Vo-Toa.
  5. IC: Verulas was about to cut to the chase with the Vortixx when the Vo-Toa showed up, calling him out by name. Strange; he remembered that only the Titan, the Makuta-worshipping Vortixx and the annoying Ta-Matoran were around when he introduced himself to Kellin and Cancer... Then he caught sight of the Vortixx who was going to ice the Crystal-Toa, and remembered that he had blabbed it to everyone. Thanks for the disadvantage, pal. He mentally cursed his own bad timing, realising that he would have to attempt his plan later as Sparky continued talking. He just hoped that he would be able to do so in time. Not wanting to arouse his suspicion, or cause any tension between himself and the merc who was standing right next to him (he still might need to talk to him later), he knew he had to keep his words as neutrally as possible. "Oh, you know," he said, beginning to smile. "One of life's unexpected surprises."
  6. Interesting. Seems like a bit of a hassle to keep pitching it though, so I'm letting my idea stay buried. At least it'll always have a spot on my moc shelves.
  7. I liked Thormen's idea of having a new constraction set eventually weaving its way into the Bionicle mythos. If it worked for He-Man and She-Ra, why not Legos?
  8. IC: Verulas left the Crystal-Toa to tend to the wounded as he began to survey the surrounding area. They only had to move the patients and supplies away from the building before it would become a symbol of their defiance and weaken the attackers' grip on the city, if only by a small amount. Unfortunately for them, he had lost a home once before and he knew what the people of Ko-Koro were going through. This was now personal, and he would come back to return them their village. Maybe even at a discounted price. Hey, he still had to make a living. He eventually encountered one of the Vortixx mercenaries, the one that wasn't trying to shoot the female Toa, and decided to strike up a conversation with him. "So," he said, suddenly becoming completely visible again. "How's the merc life been treating you? Any good hauls lately?" OOC: That's The Champion, btw.
  9. When did the News and Discussion topic relocate to Gotham City?
  10. Let me just start off by saying that this post has nothing to do with the cable car topic. Now that that's out of the way, Verulas can still be convinced into joining The Outsiders, but I'm also thinking that he would join to spare a certain Crystal-Toa from their wrath, should they decide to go after her after they leave Ko-Wahi, since he considers himself to be on somewhat friendly terms with her.Just thought that should be put out there, so however you guys want to play it, I'm game.
  11. IC: "Believe me, the people I take payment for "injuring" aren't innocent in the slightest," Verulas said as he followed her outside. "Civilians are deal breakers. They're safe as long as they don't start picking a fight with me first; if they do, they end up taking a drug-induced nap and eventually wake from their slumber with their widgets missing. Like I said, I don't hurt anyone who isn't asking for it." As the words emerged from his mouth, he spied the Matoran who he had relieved of his money after he had pushed the Toa down a flight of stairs. It was time to make himself scarce, lest said Matoran recognize him and start making a fuss over the incident. They didn't need any more problems right now, especially one involving him. "I'm... uh... going to go scout the perimeter and... uh... make sure no one else is stupid enough to attack us again today," he said as he activated his Volitak and started inconspicuously walking away from the Crystal-Toa. "Nice chatting with you."
  12. Never played MNOG, so please forgive me if I was in the dark about that particular piece of info.
  13. IC: Verulas moved through the doorway leading to the stairs before leaning his back against the wall and carefully crossing his arms over his chest, trying not to aggravate his ribs. "It's not my place to forgive since I wasn't attacked, and even if I was, I'd probably chalk it up to being a hazard of the job. Forgetting about the incident and acting like it never happened is another story entirely. The whole lot of them make me uneasy, and I usually don't play well with other mercs." He paused, sighing a bit before continuing. "As for their excuses, well, everyone's got one. For example; the money I don't use to survive goes to training and better equipment so my comrades get to return alive from the jobs I take. Granted, I've occasionally had to do some not-so-nice things to get that money, but I've always tried to do them in a way where no one else gets put in the crossfire. One bad decision can turn you into the villain of someone else's story, and sometimes subtlty is prefered over a high body-count."
  14. I believe it is up and running, but it was fixed by The Outsiders and they charge a toll for its use. If we're talking about the same cable car, that is.
  15. IC: This was not Verulas' day. How talking to one Toa suddenly became more difficult than defending an entire hospital was beyond him, but for some reason, he still felt like he had to try. "Well, that anger of yours, no matter how justifiable it is, is still unhealthy. There wasn't much of a point in making demolition plans if you're just going to punch everything apart from the inside." He continued following her, glancing at the fist impressions she had left in the past two doors and gaining a pretty good idea of what would happen to his face if he didn't choose his words carefully. "I'm not asking you to let it go, just to bottle it up and set it aside for a bit so it doesn't obscure your judgement. You don't want to end up doing something that you'll regret later because of it." He wasn't expecting a complete mood change, but he was hoping that at least some of what he was saying would reach her.
  16. I always thought that Iruini teleported himself and tiny Norik over to the Rahaga's cell when they were rescuing them from Roodaka, since that particular comic wasn't entirely too clear on how Norik got over there. Then again, my story knowledge of the canon universe was limited to the comics and what I read up on the internet, so I could be wrong.
  17. My joints only seem to break on me when I go to remove the ball from the socket, and I found out rather recently that moving the joint around before popping it out seems to lessen the chance of socket breakage. Also, pull it straight out; don't attempt to leverage the axel on the ball piece against the socket. I've only had these issues with really worn 2001-2007 and 2008-2010 sockets. The only HF-style sockets I've had break were from knockoff sets that weren't made by Lego.
  18. Quick question; are the docs/patients from the hospital in Ko-Koro waiting somewhere for the defenders to escort them to safety or are they already on their way to another Koro?
  19. IC: The Crystal-Toa held out her arm in an attempt to stop him. Really? Playing the stubborn card again? Well then, it was about time for Verulas to show her that every card in his deck was the stubborn card. He rolled his eyes, ignoring everything behind him as he continued after her. His ribs hurt, his shoulder throbbed with his side, and his burns still felt like he just crawled out of a bonfire, but he kept walking. "Look, I don't care if you leave; that's on you. But since you grouped me with the "scum," you get to listen to what I have to say. Losing your home and the people you care about is hard, I get it. Been there, done that. But we need help moving patients and equipment. I know you don't like mercs, but what happens if we run into more attackers and they switch sides again? Do you think that we can protect the injured when we're too busy protecting ourselves? Could you live with yourself if you left them to die?" OOC: I'm okay with Kimala punching him in the face if you are.
  20. IC: Verulas turned as the Vortixx stepped around him, either doubting his resolve or ignoring him completely in his anger, and continued to aim his weapon at the Crystal-Toa as he turned his back to him. It didn't bother him any; he still had a view of the other mercenary's spinal column. It was eventually lowered forcefully by his Fe-Toa comrade, who then separated them with floating metallic weapons as he began to talk him down. "I'd listen to your friend if I were you," he said. "I was paid to defend the place and the people in it, including the defenders. Don't make this more difficult than it needs to be, or I guarantee you'll regret it." A layer of ice appeared on the floor beneath his feet as the Ko-Toa started demanding answers from the mercs, a move that wasn't alleviating any tension that had built up in the room. "They're mercenaries, Frosty," he said, annoyed by the question. "They might not know anything. Do try to keep up." He then followed the Crystal-Toa to try and stop her from leaving.
  21. IC: Verulas sometimes hated being right. The screams echoing in his ears forced him to shrink the mist-bomb plant in size, his fingers clenching to conceal it as he sheathed his knife and started following the Vortixx, Skakdi, and the Ko-Toa. He ripped the other knife from its resting place in the wall (thus completing his set once more) as he left the room in his pursuit of the others. This didn't make sense. He had accounted for the positions of both the attackers and defenders while still on the roof. If anyone else came in- Then he recalled the Crystal-Toa had swung back inside after falling off of the building. Oh, Karz... He entered the room, catching sight of her holding the mask of a Ba-Toa who was on the floor clutching what was left of his eye. He saw the Vortixx raise his weapon and quickly stepped between them, readying the plant once more before answering her question. "Because they stopped fighting," he growled. "Or at least they would've if you didn't partially blind their friend first."
  22. IC: Verulas had caught the Vortixx's three allies enter the room in the corner of his eye as he sheathed the knife the Vo-Toa had so generously returned to him. From the way they were speaking, it was easy to conclude that they were mercenaries as well. A Fe-Toa, another Vortixx (the universe really hated him apparently), and a Skakdi. Exchange the Iron Toa with a Lesterin and it was that back alley in Ta-Koro all over again. Yay... They were contemplating switching sides due to not being paid yet, as it was rare to find a merc with integrity, when an Ice Toa appeared and announced that he was part of the sanctum guard... whatever that was. This is getting a bit too crowded... Reinforcing his grip on his knife, he inconspicuously moved his free hand behind his back and created a mist-bomb plant in the event that negotiations broke down and the defenders required a distraction. If Verulas had one quality that was even remotely honorable, it was that he didn't leave jobs unfinished.
  23. OOC: Krayzikk, did you switch the words "Titan" and "Vortixx" around by accident in the first paragraph of your last post? I ask because none of what Nato's been posting suggests that he's holding a weapon on your character. IC: "Well...," Verulas sighed as he pulled the knife from the Vortixx's throat. "Looks like we won't be coming to that arrangement after all." He stood before turning back to the Vo-Toa. "And you don't get to kill anyone today either, unless you want to take it up with him," the Bo-Toa said as he pointed his thumb in the direction of the Titan behind him. "Which reminds me; do you think I can get that knife back? It kind of messes with me when I don't have a complete set. I'll let you knock out the new prisoner as a consolation prize..."
  24. You could always try to redeem him, Silo. Maybe he'll be more fun to play as if he turned to the other side. ... Redeeming a character does seem to happen less often than corrupting one, so it might be a good change of pace.
