Onvermel

I'm not gonna lie that when I first heard Teridax I didn't like it but that was more from the fact that Makuta was the name I knew for years and the title "The Makuta" was much more mysterious. However I have grown to like the fact that he has a name he doesn't share with people. Makes his lore feel a bit more fleshed out. I mean people using aliases or nicknames or even going by titles given by other is very common. I mean just look at all of us. Onvermel isn't my name as i chose to keep my real name to those who need to know. Similar to Teridax. 

Is Makuta the cooler name that leaves more mystery? Yes. Do I like Teridax as a name and think it's a cool aspect of his lore? Yes.

Thanks! The older purple pieces gathered almost exclusively from Bricklink with the exception of the Pikari. That I got from my brother. The only purple piece I got as kid. As for the newer purple parts on Purple Wolf that is mostly all from Hero Factory sets.

      So my selfmoc has had a bit of a history as for quite a while I didn't truly have one as the moc of Onvermel wasn't a true selfmoc to begin as he was just a placeholder for avatars and such due to him being the old purple moc I had. Previously I always used the username Purple Wolf in other forums and such but I got attached to the name and look of Onvermel I started adopting the name and look as my official online persona

He's had a a lot of upgrades to him this being the most recent and I am finally content with him as before his arms were always to wide a gorilla like and his hands use to have a hard time getting good poseability. Flcikr album for more pictures

However this is not the only self moc I have as I actually have a second Onvermel moc. This one was made for the purpose of using the purple throwbot body for Onvermel as well as to have a representation of Onupurple which is what I use to have the character named a long time ago. However he turned into an Onvermel as I started using this second version on Onvermel as the channels portrayal of me.  I only used this verion of his as I had made mocs of my brother who are part of the channel in this same style of build. This ended up with this moc also being a selfmoc. I was also happy to use trans-purple on a purple moc.

So here we have the three main versions of Onvermel. The far right is how he looked when I first built him. I wanted to keep a copy of his origins for nostalgia sake(I do need to get another Tahu Nuva sword for him though). So I guess the nuva build style is technically a Onupurple while the other two are Onvermels. The middle main model is technically the original as I never fully broke the original. I started with giving the original knees which was followed by giving hims elbows. At that point I just wanted to make a more unique and possable moc. So I changed his torso and updated his arms but his legs, hands, sword and head didn't change. However I only recently got his arms redone to be more poseable ad changed his legs in the first time in five plus years.

Onvermel as a moc uses some customization such as his painted armor, sword, and some shortened axles in his upper legs. He also uses some non-production parts as his hands are attached to black hordika necks.

     However there is just one more moc I want to show and that is my other selfmoc based around my old online persona of Purple Wolf. As I mentioned earlier I use to go by purple wolf and I had built this guy slightly before I had converted to being Onvermel 24/7.He represents the real life me more so than Onvermel does as the hat he is wearing is more inline with what I used/do where. Plus I love the look the trench coats on characters and anytime I game with my friends I always picked the big powerful guns so I gave this moc that. He was created to portray a Bionicle me while Onvermel adopted the role and ran with it. flickr album for more picures

Also this moc was created to be a partner with my brothers selfmoc.

Well that is a lengthy history a post of my selfmocs. I could go into detail about the lore of these guys but that would take a while plus I haves to do that on my channel when I have it all shorted out a bit better as the lore has been modified over time.

I feel that. I unfortunately had to pick them up as my self moc needed them in black. Maybe I'll actually post that moc someday.

They are an interesting concept and one can see how it transformed into Bionicle. I do kinda like the extremely technic builds but am really glad we got Bionicle instead.

Hahaha that's funny. I think I was looking at that exact one. I'm just glad it is the last mask I need. If I hadn't starting collecting as early as I did I would not have as many as I do. As it's stands it's the last I need.

Also I recently got a couple green nuva chest armors. Had no idea they existed before.

Tell me about it. I was lucky I got mine when I did but I've still been waiting to acquire a trans-light blue kaukau (last kanohi I need) and just this weekend the prices all shot up. Similar to what happened to the silver nuva masks.

Okay that's a combo of animals I never thought I would see but glad I did. Very nice rahi build.

So I recently came across there armor pieces on Bricklink. I never knew about them before but are obviously a non-produced part.  These may be my rarest Bionicle elements.

This seems likely as in the first year we see the toa use noble mask in MNOG. I always wondered why they used them yet never had them in set form. Well most of them.

Saw these on flickr a few days back and I gotta say that these are really great upgrades to the sets. That chariot and spikit just look too good.

Well for collecting I would say yes as the price is only going to up it seems. I'm almost done collecting the sets and thank goodness for that as their prices have just gone up. However if you are looking for the set mostly just to use it's part then no. Better just get the parts loose.

Five years already? Well were did the time go. I may not of loved JTO but it was nice to see Bionicle get a chance on Netflix even if it was not well executed. Gen 2 as a whole could of been so much more but I am really glad it happened and am glad I got all the sets when they came out.

Also Pohatu I felt actually had a very good and enjoyable characted in JTO. Totally the best part.

Real-life-wise, gold sockets would get brittle and break really easily, so making the Toa Ignika gold would have been a QC nightmare. Keetorange was the closest, tone-wise, so I can get behind the idea that it's silver, black, and "gold" to represent the countdown stages. That's an awesome thought and I'm accepting it as my new headcanon.

Also on a side note to Toa Ignika's colour being yellow might be the reason Pohatu had orange. Really him having orange never made sense as it seemed lego was making all brown bionicle into yellow yet he was orange. I'm guess as they wanted to make Ignika more unique so he got dibs on the yellow colour.

Very well put together moc. I am always happy to see Voriki mocs and this one definitely lives up to what makes a good moc. Clean colours, solid build and unique design.

I feel like the mask didn't really chose the colours. He's black, yellow and silver. If you see the yellow as gold then these three colours represent the colours that the mask has or will take depending on the state of the universe.

Pure brilliance in building ingenuity. Beautiful like all your mocs but this might have to be my favorite yet. My favorite detail has to be the mask embedded  in his chest.

An interesting questions to ponder.  I've been collecting since 2001 and over the many years am only missing less than a dozen sets. Got all the toa, turaga, and nuva masks. I have almost all the misprints. Missing the black matatu and light blue kaukau. Have all the krana and am only missing 50 kraata. I have a bunch of other bits of bionicle merchandise. The hordika vakama voice changer mask might be one of my more interesting ones. With that I have a tooth brush, watch, board games, all movies, retail display banner, hat, shirt, key chain and pro cds.

I wouldn't say anything makes me collection special at least to others but to me it is extremely special as I have at this point spent thousands of dollars and time into it and is a collections I am very proud of.
