About green Nuva parts - chuckschwa is right. They are test molds. They are made in colors like green, so it is easy to see any defects. I wouldn't call them prototypes since they are not used as part of design process but they are used to check if mold works correctly. Usually such parts come from Lego employees or are sold by people who suppose to take them away to utilization. Those green Nuva weapons are available on market for last 13 years or so. I have them as well:

BLACK NUVA LEGS!!!!!!   Now those I would die to try and find someone wanting to sell them.

  2. Now this is truly a topic of touchy opinions.

That being said I truly agree that we DON'T NEED Bionicle back. Sure we would all love it to come back but lets be real here for a second. I don't think it unsafe to say that a high majority of this fanbase are now adults. Even if you discovered Bionicle in the last full year of 2009 at a young age of 6 lets say that would put you at 19 now. So with that I am sticking with the idea that 95% of us are adults. Now back at the point on hand. We as adults really don't need a toy line to come back.  Sure many if not most of us still use our toys to create new and exciting characters and stories and we aren't hindered by the absence of new sets as there are literately countless ways to build with all the parts available and Lego does still make some parts in sets that fit our needs oh so well. Pus with 3D printing we get our fill of new masks and weapons. So on the mocing side yeah we don't need it back.

"How about the story?" I hear you ask well, that we can do on our own.  Besides people always complain about elements in the canon stories to begin with so this makes everyone happy to just make it as they see fit.

Really Bionicle at the end of the day is a toy for kids with cool stories. We are all but grown up and yes it would be awesome if kids today could have Bionicles on the shelves but that i no way means we need them back. Saying we need Bionicle back reminds me of oldmen in movies saying "back in my day we didn't need(insert modern tech or toy)." I'm sure we are all familiar with the people who claimed a kid could just have as much fun with a yoyo as a playstation. Not saying yoyos aren't cool but I don't think it would be sane to say that "we need yoyos back".

We don't need Bionicles and kids don't need them but they will always be cool.

That's impressive....i dont even want to know how much that cost. Dark gray pieces are expensive. I built half the rahi....using dark bluish gray which is much cheaper....i do have one original master builder set with correct colors though!

Let's just say the MANY  orders didn't make it easy. As well I may have cleared out the last several red throwbot bodies off of bricklink.

I and both of my brothers each got that set for Christmas one year, and we had a blast with all the different varieties of Rahi one could make :D

(Sorry @Bionicleforever 12 for us hijacking your post) :P

Yeah seemed to have gotten one way. Although this is an old thread.

Okay time to end this side tangent.

Also are items on this list still available?

Now this seems like a good first topic for someone emerging from a 10-17 year Bionicle Dark Age, whose love of the theme is driven by some substantial nostalgia...

My first set was 8542 Turaga Onewa. Well, more accurately, my first Bionicle was HALF of 8542 Turaga Onewa. It was October-ish 2001 and Mom had encountered a discounted-and-damaged copy somewhere shopping (I suspect Christmas shopping, given that she came home with LEGO) and since this meant it was about $2, she took a flyer on it, knowing her children were all mad about LEGO, though none of us had done more than glance at the promotional materials and call it "weird." So my brother and I split him. The set WAS missing a piece, but as it was only one of the 5-length axles in one of his legs, we were able to compensate.

Turns out, Bionicle might've been weird, but it was also a lot of fun (should I point out that Onewa wears a mask of mind control? That seems suspicious...). Anyway, my brother bought a Matau, I bought out his share of Onewa, and we split a mask pack (brown Pakari and a light blue Ruru, if I remember right, though I couldn't tell you what brainstalk...). So Onewa was my first Bionicle, at Christmas 2001 I got Tahu as my first full Bionicle, and with my Christmas money I made Pohatu my first purchase. It snowballed from there.

A very good first set. ;) Also welcome brother.

Now that you mention it, this has got me thinking about which elements would've had which gender if there had been such a more even balance.

If I had to choose among the original six elements which three should be male and which three should be female, I think Fire, Earth, and Stone would be male, while Water, Air, and Ice would be female.

I understand the subject of this topic is a little more complicated than that, but I just wanted to share my thoughts on a what if question I had just suddenly come up with.

I like the idea of three-three. However I feel as if ice and water should be different as both technically control water so have one foreach gender and have earth and stone also have separate ones. Fire and air can also do the same. So for me I would be interested in seeing, Water, air, and earth-female and ice, stone, and fire as male. Give both side a earth and water "bender" in a sense.

It's really odd that lego couldn't keep a legacy color like brown on Pohatu when he came out in 2008. I still remember how ugly orange looked on him and how his mask looked like a fake Vahi mask with a added visor.

I agree completely with this. However unfortunately brown sets just didn't appeal to kids. Pohatu despite being my favorite toa is cursed with brown just not being a colour most people would chose. He is the only 2001 set I remember seeing on shelves for a lengthy period of time all the way into 2004.  This was so prevalent in my brothers childhood that it became an inside joke.

Of course, I buy sets without canisters that literally dont come with any (Titans, Duo packs) but I see no reason to *not* buy canisters if you're a collector. I think it looks great on a shelf.

I fully agree. Although I am also the guy with 7 mata Pohatu canisters. I am making "The Dream' a reality for me. I think all the toa I have double of their canisters as well as bohrok. Although one reason I have doubles and such is because some canister are different such as European canister compared to north American.  Plus their are all the CD variants.

I actually only buy sets when they're *with* the canister. Not sure if this counts as it's technically not "keeping" the canister, but I only buy from people who do.

I say it counts.  Also that is pretty much how I operate when it comes to buying canister sets. Well did as I got the last one not to long ago.

  9. Hello everyone!  So I too am in the search of the least of the kraata I need. I am mostly looking to just purchase as I don't have any extra kraata to trade. I have some krana if that interests you for trade as well as some mask but not a lot.

    -Stage 2- Density Control (Green/Metal-green),Electricity (Blue/red), Confusion (black/copper),

Stage 3- Chain Lighting (Metal-bue/metal-green),Cyclone(metal-blue/silver), Statis field (metal-blue/pearl dark grey),

    -Stage 5- Chain Lighting (metal-blue/metal-green), Gravity (pearl dark grey/metal-green),Silence(lime/pearl dark grey),Cyclone(Meatl-blue/silver), Vacuum(yellow/lime), Dodge(yellow/dark gold),Molecular Disruption(dark gold/copper)

I kept all of mine, even after peeling the label off a few... Besides those, they're all still in excellent condition.

yeah I took the back labels of a most my Rahkshi. Cool to have them with the clear back but I wish  I had kept them on.

Kept mine. I used one of them for keeping masks in and found other stuff to keep in the others. I kept coins in a couple of them, and I think I used one to store Halloween/seasonal candy for a couple of years. Having a hard time remembering what I kept in the rest of them (but there was nothing sus, I promise!).

Nothing sus. I believe you :)

  11. I'm pretty sure I can chronologically list every Bionicle set in order I got them. Don't worry I won't do that.

However the first set I got was Turaga Onewa which lead to basically every years first set being the brown ones.

I am only missing one set at this moment so I know what my last one will be. Thornatus v9. I am waiting to get a sealed one at some point as to enjoy experiencing a brand new Bionicle set for the last time.  I have never even held one in person. It will truly be a momentous day.

Funny thing is both my first and last will both be tan sets.

I've managed to keep not only all the canisters in my collection but also all of the cardboard boxes (both small and large) as well. Sure, sometimes they got slightly torn from back when I first opened them, but otherwise I took very good care of them to the point that I was able to reasonably pack away every single set back into their original containers, even if some of the larger boxes obviously don't form much of a seal, which is a major reason why my entire collection is now stored in storage totes to prevent anything small from slipping in or out.

Yes, as early as 2001 when I was only 11 years old, I refused to throw out anything that came with my Bionicle sets, and took great care to make sure they could be as clean and intact as possible for display. The only things that I did throw out were the back stickers for the Bohrok, Bohrok Kal, and Rahkshi canisters because we were specifically instructed to peal them off so the curled up sets could be displayed within the transparent canisters. In hindsight, I wish I could've kept even those "disposable" canister back stickers.

You have pretty much just described me. With a few excepting I do still have all my cardboard boxes except my turaga as I was to young to think about keeping them.

I really liked keeping them when they were story-relevant, like the Toa Mata, Bohrok and Toa Metru. I thought the Metru lid Matoran sphere function was especially cool and creative.

I agree with Mukaukau Nuva, the Mahri and Phantoka canisters were/are kind of unfortunate. I still have some but they don't hold up as display pieces very well simply due to the material and/or design.

Regardless of whether they're kept or not, I definitely loved the look and feel of canisters when the set was brand-new. I hope if there is a third generation of Bionicle sets, they can figure out an easily recyclable or biodegradable canister material.

I agree the story relevant are the best. I actually got two extra toa whenua lids to have a matoran pod permanently.

I did get rid of most my mahri canisters. I traided the frames and threw out the cardboard. I got back the plastic later but unfortunately that cardboard is long gone. So out of my six only two have a full complete canisters. The collector in me it rather bothered by this.  I did the similar to extra copies of the av/agori canister/box. I actually really like the look of those as well as the phantoka.

I kept a lot of my canisters, especially from the earlier years when they doubled as Suvas, etc. Unfortunately my parents didn't share my appreciation for the significance of the canisters when I was growing up, and threw out most of mine.

RIP canisters. My parents never threw out mine but somehow I lost the bottom to my original Mata Onua.

  14. Hey folks! I got a two part question.

#1 So I was thinking to myself about how I myself kept all my Bionicle canisters. They were useful storage and as a kid made great set pieces. Did all of you keep yours and why?

#2 This is for all you collectors out there. Do you collect all the canister as well or do you feel the canisters are a waste of space and don't think it's needed for a collection?

Just curious to see what you folks say.

    Stay groovy
