I've been a fan since the beginning as well, but I don't feel sore about not winning. There's a bit of random chance inherent in any contest of this sort. And that's actually a pretty good thing, since it means that kids with less creative experience won't be completely outmatched by lifelong fans like us. They still haven't announced how the golden Mask of Creation will be given out, and that might end up being a more skill-based competition than this one. There's a golden Mask of Creation? I thought that there were only the 6 elemental masks and the Skull Spider one

Did anyone else notice that the skull mask went back to the MoC on the lego products page?

While the similarities are noted, I think they are few and far between. I mean, fusion and Kaitas as natural things I don't feel were all that important as they are of a theme in SU, and a lot of stuff has powers coming from a specific object that characters have. Although it's always cool to see the two together!

Oh god Spybotics I remember playing that game for hours is so much fun, but I can't find a version of shockwave that will work with modern browsers to play it. But does anyone remember those lego creator games where you played as vehicles and animals and you had to get to a flagpole? All of the things you built had a little battery brick and they could only go a certain amount of tiles before draining out. I haven't found anything about that since it was removed. Lego World Builder! I don't think it's still available on Lego.com, but like many other old online games, BioMedia Project has it available for download. Erm, how do I open the .dcr file? I tried opening it in both firefox and internet explorer and neither worked, they just try to redownload the file from my browser.

Okay, so crazy crackpot theory, but what if Gali doesn't have a trans mask because she will wear the mask of creation in the story? Also, maybe the translucent Tahu mask is because Skull Grinder or maybe one of the combos takes his mask and drains/powers/whatevers it fully, whereas the other skellingtons had the masks taken out halfway through.

Here's my setup. I technically have a seventh pedestal built as well, but I didn't feel like getting new pictures. The masks are attached somewhat similarly to the one in Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder, except everything from the Technic half-beams up is replaced with this part, which provides a much more secure connection while being even smaller and more subtle. Can't wait to have a Mask of Creation of my own to put on that seventh pedestal! Cool stands, but what did you make the base out of, and what sets are they from? I can't remember any time I've seen that piece.

So I was fooling around while disassembling my Onua Combiner into him and the protectors and attempted to duplicate the mask holder, and DANG that thing is awful, the masks are so loose on it it's not even funny. I found that even a simple G1 hand piece works amazingly for holding the masks in any orientation, how do you guys have your golden masks set up, if not just lying around? I'm going to have to make 7 setups for the golden masks, plus 4 for the half trans golden masks, then one for the hero pack, one for an extra Ekimu mask if I get the activity book, maybe my NYCC tahu mask if I ever open that, maybe an extra empty one for the Gali mask I'll never own and gosh that's adding up to a lot of masks heads.

A two length axle piece and blue pin fused together, then I can annoy everyone by being bright red and breaking up their color scheme while also being bright blue and breaking up their color scheme. That or a turaga, if I can skip being a toa. Then I have all the wisdom without all that protecting the matoran business, plus I can be a cryptic jerk.

Maybe someone at lego decided that the intended young kids audience would be easily confused on who is is getting which since kopaka has blended gold/transblue while gali would've gotten transdarkblue/gold. From what i've noticed lego seems to mostly be designing the sets with details that captivate the younger audiences before anything else matters. Eh, kids may be dumb, (I am still a kid, after all, at least for the most part), but these sets are labeled 7-14. Kids that are 7 are going to be able to notice a difference in two characters as distinct as Gali and Kopaka, and those who couldn't probably wouldn't care and would still have fun with the set anyways.

There was a completely clear Tahu mask that was given out at NYCC, I bought mine off ebay for 20-ish bucks but now they're going up to 45-50 dollars, if you plan on getting one, get it soon. You seem to have a hero pack or two, so that one shouldn't matter. Then there's the translucent dark blue (same shade as the dark translucent armor on Protector of Water) Gali mask, that was given out at the Lego Insider Tour, a very expensive and very in depth tour of Lego, and was only given out there to people on the tour, with a few extras made for internal use. Given the nature of the mask's limited availability, Lego discouraging people from selling them in the aftermarket for Inside Tour participants, and the fact that the people going on the tour aren't typically the type of people to sell the masks, it will be nigh impossible to get one, sadly. (Info on the Gali mask courtesy of Lyichir and Aanchir, who went on the tour) There was actually a few days of drama here when the mask came out, but I digress. People just didn't know. The Chir bros are right in that there really wasn't a chance but I think most people don't pay as much attention to everything as them. No one in this thread should be expecting anything, but in reality we just thought this was like the other books. Thanks for shedding better light on it, at least for me. I need to learn to not believe in the hype as much.

Eh, I, like most people it seems, am over the whole "never going to be able to get this mask" craze. At this point I'd never really expect them to distribute those, unless it turns out that there's some huge surplus and they give them to someone else to distribute.

I just called my nearest Lego store (I live in NC, USA) and they said that they didn't even have any dates in the system for when they'd be getting the new sets. They said that all the stores in the country would be getting the shipment at the same time and it wouldn't be any time soon, probably late June early August, like we all expected. This is definitely a very limited release in very few places.
