  1. IC: Echo - Extraction Point Echo began helping with closing the hatches on the dropships. He kept a tab on the camera-man and was relieved to see that the reporter had kept her word and directed him to point his recorder away from the Heroes. He would be in the news for sure, but he had been very careful not to give the reporter his name so he might get lucky and be mentioned anonymously. "You guys getting on or what?" He asked the Alpha Heroes.
  2. IC: Echo - Extraction Point Echo had just finished stashing Daxer's body in the small cargo hold when he was hailed from behind. His scowl darkened underneath his mask. More reporters? This was definitely another- oh... It was a pair of Heroes. Echo blinked once. He didn't even have to run a pattern-match analysis to know who these two were: Dunkan Bulk and Jimi Stringer, Alpha Heroes. They both looked pretty beat up. "If you two are looking for a trip back to the Factory, this it." He nodded towards Bulk. "You don't look so good, sir. I'd recommend a visit to medical."
  3. OOC: Hang on... did you say Bulk and Stringer need to be EVACUATED? IC: Echo - Near extraction point With the citizens and unwelcome media crew in tow, Echo made his way to the first shuttle. He didn't know the pilot in this one, so he just sent as many civilians on board as he could and then shouted "Full! You're clear for takeoff," up to the cockpit. Still trying hard not to think about the Xandros IX scandal, he sent the rest of the civilians aboard Drift's ship and gave a curt nod to the reporter and her camera-man. He'd been the media's punching bag for years and knowing his luck, this mission was somehow going to be another strike... OOC: I forgot to mention it before, but Echo has been set up by the media on at least four separate occasions. The incident on Xandros IX still stings a bit (in case you can't tell).
  4. IC: Echo - Sunny Square Echo was tense. He really didn't want the reporter and her crew involved. The very idea was loathsome to him. But he also didn't want to make Hero Factory seem secretive or unfriendly. The whole point of the organization was to give citizens people they could rely on and trust to keep them safe, and he wouldn't exactly be upholding that ideal if he denied the request. He couldn't quite bring himself to answer, so he just nodded his reluctant consent.
  5. I suppose I might as well join in... Here goes nothing: Hoverbike profile: The Shrike Fire: 5 Earth: 3 Ice: 3 Water: 4 Jungle: 5 Stone: 1
  6. IC: Echo - The Sunny Square Echo relaxed slightly at the reporter's last statement. His words would be twisted somehow in an article later, not directly on the air. "Yes," He responded tersely to the first question and tried not to think about that incident on Xandros IX. His attention was momentarily diverted as a pair of Hero Dropships began descending from the sky, one of them being his own. He needed to get these civilians to the extraction point soon... OOC: By the way, are Ezec and Aza still in the Sunny Square?
  7. IC: Echo - Near Extraction Point, but delayed by UNEXPECTED INTERVIEW! Echo was glad the angry citizen had ran past. Now she- The Hero's train of thought was interrupted by... a reporter? He was being interviewed? Echo stared blankly at her for a moment. Snapping out of it, he responded warily with "I'm extracting these civilians from the area. It's too dangerous for them on the ground until Hero Factory has secured the area and gotten the situation completely under control." He grimaced under his smooth faceplate. He couldn't stand the media. His ear was suddenly filled with the voice of another Hero, one who's signal came from the Hotel he'd just left. The Hero identified himself as "Azure Stryker". Echo switched on his sound dampeners so the reporter couldn't hear his reply. "Thanks for the update, Stryker. Oh, there's something I'd like you to check out for me while you're in there: I read an unidentified signature on a scan of the ground floor I did. Could you check it out for me?"
  8. OOC: "Mission commander" I'm assuming is referring to Zib and not Echo, right? IC: Echo - Sunny Square Echo had almost reached the other side of the Sunny Square when the enraged civilian began stomping towards him from the hotel. Coming to break more of his gadgets, no doubt. The Hero kept his eye on her as he got closer to the extraction point...
  9. IC: Echo - Outside the Grand Tranq Echo winced slightly as he heard a satisfying crunching noise coming from the now mostly empty lobby. He cycled radio communication to his ear-piece and set a note in his objectives to get a new backup wrist comm. He understood the citizen was upset, but there was no reason to smash his stuff. Evacuation, as disgraceful as it was, was standard protocol. Pushing aside his brief annoyance, he continued his march into the Sunny Square.
  10. IC: Echo - Just outside the Grand Tranq By now, Echo had gotten most of the civilians outside and into the sunlight. Even from here he could hear the shouts of the person he had given his comm to, and she didn't sound any happier now than when she had first begun ranting at him. Echo shook his head. On this one he agreed with the angry citizen. Injured Heroes made sense to him, but the fact that Zib had so little trust in the Heroes he himself had sent as to have the populace evacuated in the event of their failure completely appalled him. He continued his march to the evac point anyway. At least he would be done with this awkward situation soon...
  11. IC: Echo - The Grand Tranq entrance With a shrug, Echo detached the standard built-in communicator mounted on his wrist, handed it to the seething citizen, and resumed the exodus of the crowd.
  12. OOC: Sorry for taking so long to repsond to the Grand Tranq situation. BZP locked me out completely. =/ IC: Echo - The Grand Tranq "Just following orders," he shrugged at the irate citizen. "It's not my call." He began organizing the locals and moving them out the door in an orderly fashion. Suddenly, his comm-link crackled. Why was Drift sending him new coordinates? He hadn't finished with these guys yet? "Echo, Zib's just radioed me with some bad news. Something called Project Sunstorm is launching in just under two hours. I've got no clue what that is, but he seemed pretty frantic in the transmission. Get those civvies to the drop-point and then you're off extraction duty. I'll update you once you've completed your current objective."
  13. IC: Echo - The Grand Tranq Echo had done a little scouting around while the other Heroes did sweeps of the building. These citizens were still being asked questions and such so he would have to ask the other Heroes if he could remove them before simply taking them to the drop point. Asking almost always avoided unpleasantness. So far, he had three of the five markings on his readout accounted for. His armor match program had identified a "Riot" and a "Schadenfreude, Artemus" and he had found the hotel manager wandering around near the Heroes. That left two unknowns. "Hey," Echo addressed the two Heroes, "I have orders to extract these civilians. You guys done with them?"
  14. OOC: Ah, thanks. So that's five signatures showing up on his map then: The three Heroes, Crowley, and Tracia.
  15. IC: Echo - The Grand Tranq There had been no response yet. Echo began moving among the civilians and telling them why he was there, but never let his attention slip from the entrances to the back rooms. Slowly, he began to herd them towards the opening. OOC: My memory is not cooperating with me on this RPG. I can never remember where anyone is (besides the guys in the hospital fight right now). So correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Artemus Schadenfreude and Crowley are currently the only two people in the Tranq right now?
  16. IC: Echo - The Grand Tranq Echo entered the hotel structure and almost immediately noticed the group of civilians huddled together. He took a step forward and then, thinking of a better course of action, steered himself into a corner and knelt in his usual position. He would scan the building first. Echo had been ambushed once before and it wasn't an experience he had enjoyed. He always made sure to check beforehand. Better safe than sorry. After a few minutes of sitting in silence and gathering a map of the ground floor, Echo stood up and reviewed the data he had just collected. There were a handful of blurred areas on his map, signifying something moving around: a life-form. Were there other Heroes in the building? Echo sent out a signal to all Heroes on the ground floor, hoping all the smudges would be accounted for...
  17. IC: Echo - Extraction point After dropping off Daxer at the extraction point and watching Thumper head back towards the hospital, Echo was ready for his next target. Opening the comms, he requested his next coordinates with a simple "Done. Next." Drift's voice filled his ear-piece a moment later with "Took you long enough. You're next one should be a 'Breez'. Head on over to these and escort the civilians to the evac point." A new set of coordinates appeared in Echo's HUD, pointing him in the direction of some sort of... hotel or something. Drift was right: he never got the fun jobs. OOC: If no one else wants to be extracted, I'll send Echo into the fray next.
  18. IC: Echo - Wrecked hospital lobby "I don't know." He answered briefly with a slight shrug. Using the wireless Hero uplink channel, he sent Thumper the extraction point coordinates and began trudging towards the hole in the wall where the door had once been. OOC: Those coordinates are uploaded to all Heroes in the area, by the way. Or anyone who can receive a signal right now anyway. Not sure how good the reception would be underground,
  19. IC: Echo - Wrecked hospital lobby "Actually," Echo addressed her, "This guy didn't make it." With some effort, he managed to flip the body around for a few seconds so the other Hero could see the grim injury. Echo realized he didn't recognize her, so he ran a quick armor match sequence. The analysis returned a 97% armor match with one "Thumper, Eloise" (His equipment was a bit too precise as he hadn't had a chance to fine-tune it in his rushed deployment. The missing 3% was obscured by dust from the crash-landing.). "Would you mind giving me a hand? I need to move him a few kilometers from here so we can extract him along with the injured. Don't ask me why we're extracting dead. I'm just following orders."
  20. IC: Echo - Hospital lobby Echo had just entered the lobby and retrieved Daxer's body when a Hero pod smashed through the front of the building and destroyed what little of the room wasn't already trashed. A massive Hero climbed out and announced her presence. Daxer was heavy and he might be able to get some help... OOC: Ah, good to see some of those Heroes back in action. So that leaves just Dane Hellsend, Reyna Pherae, Smitty Slink, and Marcel Bolt. If I remember correctly, Dane was pretty beat up... Also, would it make sense to have the citizens holed up in the Grand Tranq evacuated?
  21. IC: Echo - Hospital After cutting through the last of the debris on the stairwell with his saw, Echo finally found what he was looking for: the body of Daxer Phyrus. He lifted the Hero with some effort and winced when he saw the chest. Core ruptures weren't pretty. Limp wires and jagged shards of his chassis stuck out at unnatural angles, lubricant trickled down the side of the hole, and several cracks ran through his thick armor plating. A massive gaping cavity occupied the space where his core should have been and the edges still smoked faintly. Echo felt slightly sick and twisted Daxer around so he wouldn't have to look at it. Dragging the corpse over to an elevator shaft (one that hadn't been partially demolished), he unceremoniously dumped it down into the lobby area and proceeded down the stairs to retrieve it. OOC: Does anyone else want/need extraction? I haven't heard from Dane Hellsend, Reyna Pherae, Smitty Slink, Riot, Azure Stryker, Artemus Schadenfreude, Simon Trigger, Marcel Bolt, or Kathrine Scarlet in a while, so I'm not sure who all would be evacuated...
  22. IC: Echo - Moving towards the hospital For a moment, it seemed like a few of the other heroes were going to come with him, but they ended up staying behind. Echo entered the lobby, now almost completely destroyed and stopped. Kneeling, he unfolded the intricate silver instrument on the back of his head and channeled a hyper frequency sound wave through it. After a few moments, images began flooding in, giving him a rough map of the hospital. His target was on the roof. He stood and moved towards the stairs.
  23. I'm pretty sure I'm ripping off something, but I don't know what I'm ripping off, so it's all good. Besides, I have a reason for that name: poetic irony. You'll see once I get the profile up. OOC: Adam West was the actor who played Batman in that really old 60's show. Your not ripping off something, you're ripping off someone. =P
