Just as a heads up, I will be buying a full membership soon. I like this blog feature. Okay, I figured I might as well do a run down of all the stuff I'm into and excited for now, so here we go.
Anime
I'm more of a casual anime fan, I'm not overly obsessed with the stuff, but I find it interesting to watch. Here are a few I've just found out about recently and/or been watching for a while.
Fooly Cooly
My favorite show would have to be FLCL. It's just so amazing on so many levels. There's plenty of insanely crazy humor and the show pokes fun at everything, but also a really good underlying moral. Here's a little synopsis. Naota is a young kid living in the town of Mabase with his father and grandfather. His brother, Taskue (Spelling?) is an extremely good baseball player and has moved to the US to compete there. His girlfriend, Mamimi, has taken a liking to Naota and starts to flirt with him. One day while the two are out, a crazy lady riding a Vespa moped runs over Naota and proceeds to smack him in the head with her guitar. Naota returns home to find a large horn growing out of the spot where the lady hit him. The lady, who's name is Haruko, claims to be a traveling housekeeper and gets hired by Naota's father. I'm not going to spoil the rest, but it gets even more quirky and insane. One other thing that I like is that every character is unique and has a purpose. There's no filler characters, and they each have their own personality. This is also one of the only anime that I know of that has good english voice acting.
Also, eyebrows.
Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi
Another amazing show, it basically parodies everything from Gundam to Western movies, even more than FLCL. My only gripe with this show is that they stuff the story line into about 4 episodes and leave those episodes almost devoid of humor. Synopsis, go! Arumi and Sasshi are best friends who live in the Abenobashi shopping district in Japan. Their shopping arcade (center) has slowly been losing shops and stores over the years, and now Arumi is going to move away with her family. After stumbling upon an odd doorway, they find themselves in a strange alternate shopping arcade, a dungeons and dragons arcade. They try to make their way home, and find many other alternate shopping arcades, such as a space one, prehistoric one, and so on. I totally recommend this show to any anime fan. It's amazing. The english voices are also pretty good as well.
Elfen Lied
I'm not going to really go in depth on this one, cause it has excessive violence and some....suggestive parts. So, I'll just say that it's very depressing, and it actually made me tear up at one part. I'm only on episode 9 of the series, and I can't wait to finish it.
That's it for now. Expect some entries on my favorite music and games today. Come on people, drop me some comments.
