  1. Well, you can thank my little brother for getting me to return from the afterscape (by which I mean the brony fandom I joined after I left BZPower). He still occasionally checks BZPower, and he said something about my name being mentioned in a recent comic topic, so I thought I'd see what was up. Anyway, these comics have been quite the nostalgia trip for me. You've done a marvelous job capturing Dark's style, and the story is intriguing. It's much darker and moodier than my finale, but then it's also rather fitting for Dark, since the tone is quite true to his movies. Honestly, the tone of this is probably pretty close to my original idea for a finale (big, epic, really dark and full of grief) before I scaled it back to something more fitting and more reasonably within my abilities. So kudos to you for doing this! I can't promise I'll be around to watch it progress (I think this is honestly the first time I've even looked at BZP in over a year) but it seems like it will be a fitting tribute. Keep up the good work, as we used to say in these parts! (Good grief, I sound old...)
  2. Did anyone else notice that background music during the spa scene? I dunno, something about it really stands out to me, it adds quite a bit of ambience and I really dig it.
  3. Oh man, today's episode was fantastic! So many wonderful little gags... And much, much more that I can't remember at the moment because I'm overwhelmed by it all. There were moments in here that really reminded me of a lot of fanfic and comic jokes, which is awesome. I doubt the writers have been reading our stuff, I think it more speaks to how good and expansive our stuff is that we manage to incorporate a lot of these ideas.
  4. Highlights of the new episode for me: All in all, the plot was really predictable, but it's great how they could work in time travel without a paradox. A lot of great comedy and a good moral. Didn't quite live up to my expectations (I wanted more Twi freakout!), but a good episode all in all.
  5. "In Case of Fire Use Window" Really, do I need to say anything?
  6. I know I am. This whole thing hit the fan while I was on a little trip, and I'm really glad it did - I just can't bring myself to get worked up over this. I guess it's because I wasn't really expecting Derpy to have any more speaking roles - I just saw this as a wonderful one-time gift to bronies, but now all these bronies seem to be acting as if we were entitled to this, like we deserved it, and not appreciating this for how unusual it is to have an animation studio do such an obvious shout-out to their fans.So...yeah, I dunno. I'm gonna sit this out.
  7. Yeah, I'd have to agree with that. I'm also a little bothered by the whole "smile!" thing, just because when I was younger I had plenty of people telling me I should smile more often (heh, now when I hear those words I immediately think of the Joker). It wasn't like I was grimacing or angry, I just wasn't smiling constantly. It's an idea that's got its heart in the right place but is way too easy to abuse. But hey, I didn't love this episode for the moral. I loved this episode for Pinkie.
  8. Man, the fourth wall in this episode just never saw it coming...
  9. Birdemic: Shock and Terror. You have no idea what a truly horrendous film is until you see - nay, experience this film. It is, without exaggeration, the worst film I have ever seen. And I love it to death.Of course, The Room may come close (glad to see some mentions of it here)...but even then I consider Birdemic the more comically inept film.
  10. Wait a second. I'm in a world where my profession is dominated by lovely ladies who all want me in their comics? :blink:Why would I want to hide from that?! :lol:I just read through the entirety of A Room With a Mahi, and man it is sweet! Alternate universe stories are the best. And that Gavla Old Spice commercial...oh my god, that was hilarious.
  11. Holy cow, today was just an awesome day to be an MLP fan. First there was the Mare-a-Thon, then there was the new episode (which was awesome!), then there was the news of the upcoming episode which sounds fantastic, and now we get news of these new toys! Not only is there is correctly colored-Celestia and DJ-Pon3 and Nightmare Moon (which looks sweet!), there's also Trixie AND Zecora!!! I might actually start buying MLP figures!Seriously, I never thought Hasbro would make Nightmare Moon into a set...I thought they figured it was too dark for their usual demographic. Of course, we're not exactly their usual demographic...
  12. *squee!* I am SO looking forward to this. I really want Doctor Whooves. I mean, I know they won't make him a part of the story, but at least a hint in the background would be awesome. But Doctor Whooves or no, I just know that episode is going to be awesome.Anyway, new episode spoilers:
  13. Hmmm...Progress is a very goofy story that focuses on Luna - a lot of comedies reference it, so it might be good to know if you start looking into that. It's pretty sweet (and definitely not mature).Geez...I'm looking through some story lists now and when we get into background ponies everything good (at least of what I've read so far) seems to be either a Doctor Who crossover or a shipping fic, which strays pretty far from the feel of the official canon.
  14. Sweet, thanks. ^_^Oh my gosh, the new "Rainbow Dash Presents" video (just google it, you can find it easily enough) is awesome. Title of this one is "Rainbow Dash Presents: Captain Hook the Biker Gorilla" but it's actually Rainbow Factory, a ridiculous old fanfic in a similar vein as Cupcakes. What these guys do with stupid horror/slasher fics is hilarious and just freaking awesome. This new one even has a killer song!
  15. Where are those two from? I especially want to find the source of the first one.
  16. What's this? The MLP topic on page 2 of CoT? This will not do!Heh, figures the first book Dash would read is apparently a film novelization. Still, the pop culture reference potential for tomorrow's episode is fantastic...let's just hope there's some actual books in there. I'm pulling for Harry Trotter, myself.
  17. Woo! A whole bunch of new comics since the last time I checked! ...But too many comics to comment on all at once...Well, I love the Larry comics. The way his head turns red when toast is ready really cracks me up for some reason. :lol:Gotta love how the Fourth Wall cop looks like he's breaking the fourth wall there at first. Plus Chilly waving in the background.
  18. If I remember correctly, according to Applejack Sweet Apple Acres makes most of its profits off cider, so if they lost the right to sell cider they would lose the farm soon enough, and Flim and Flam would be the obvious ponies to sell it to. Granted, they wouldn't have to pack up and leave right away like they were preparing to do when it looked like they lost, so that's a bit of a plothole, but still, that's why they would lose the farm.
  19. Nothing is safe from ponies. Bronies hold nothing sacred, save for the almighty word of the Faust. You will all be assimilated. But seriously, nice drawing. I agree with Shadow Reaper that it could stand to look a little more mechanical, try to hit a balance between the organic appearance of a pony and the LEGO appearance of Bionicle, but all in all not bad. The idea of a pony with a retractable eye with zoom function is mighty appealing, actually...
  20. I was actually around when they started the comics forum, so I might be able to write a thing or two about the lead-up to and the beginning of the forum. If someone would be willing to create the page and send me a link, I can put down what I remember.
