Buy 2 get one free sale at Fred Meyer! Got the Space Truck Getaway for free, which is also the draft set for Brickcon! One of the other 2 sets, either Pirates or Agents is going to be opened and its parts will become mine! The other will be going up for sale, which one should I open?
I am leaning towards the Agents set, I want to see what that battery powered laser part is all about.

Rocket man...
6454 Countdown Corner
Description: Released in 1999 for a retail value of about 25 dollars, today sells MISB for about 40 bucks. Containing 128 parts and 1 minifig, the set was part of the space port series.
My take: This set has those neat trans red rocket nozzle parts. It also has a light and sound brick for added effect. Not really something I would be interested in outside of the parts, but still a nice and simple set.

Entry period has ended, voting will begin soon!
Welcome to the second Sanitarium Contest. The theme this time is pretty straight forward, Build a ground based combat vehicle, with personnel. Your entry must meet the following requirements to be accepted.
1. The vehicle must be ground based, as in wheels or treads. The entry MUST have wheels or treads and they MUST be used as a means of transportation on the entry. Transformers and/or humanoid vehicles are also fine, the vehicle may also have the ability to float/fly, but remember that it must be ground based initally.
2. The vehicle must be able to carry at least 2 or more personnel inside of it. This means the interior, the personnel must be able to fit at least halfway into the vehicle. The personnel can be minifigures, technic minifigures, toa/matoran, custom personnel, robots/droids or whatever, just as long as 2 of them fit inside the vehicle, and they are distinct.
3. The vehicle must have some sort of gun/cannon/laser on it, it does not have to fire like a blunt shooter but it must clearly be a long range weapon of some sort. Catapults, slingshots, anything is game here as long as it is long range.
Lego prizes will be awarded for first and second place, first place will win a Chrome Hau and second place will win either Tarduk, Raanu or a Coast Guard Kayak city set, selected at random!
Rules are as follows:
1. Your entry will be put under the microscope very closely, so please provide several angles/pictures of it before entering, any non lego parts found on the entry will result in a DQ. There is no lego medium that will not be accepted here, it can be 100 percent system, 100 percent technic and so on.
2. Outside of the theme, this is a freebuild, so you may build anything you like! However you may NOT edit the creation once it has been officially entered and you may not steal another persons work.
3. There will be no 3 part entries. Your creation must contain at least 30 parts at the minimum.
4. No whining, no complaining, no cheating, period. This means begging for votes when the polling has begun also.
5. The NEW deadline for this contest has been set for September 25th. There will be NO further extentions.
6. You may only enter ONE vehicle. This is not up for debate, detachable accessories and the like are fine, but ALL these must be able to attach to the main creation in some manner.
7. You may NOT enter previously posted/public creations.
8. Have fun and please PM me for any further questions or information, or post. Everyone will be given a second chance, so if your entry does not fit the contest requirements, you may modify it and then re-enter it at least once. No pressure!
9. Please post your entry in the following format:
Entry Name:
Entry Picture:
Gallery link:
Topic link: (if needed)
If you have any further questions, you can PM me or my contest assistant Distorted.

On the road again...
5580 Highway Rig
Description: Released in 1986 at a retail price of about 40 dollars, this set became a big collectors item and now sells for about 500 dollars new and sealed. Containing 667 parts, this was one of the first sets using system on top of technic. Part of the Model Team line.
My take: I had this set, complete, and lost it in time. So sad, good memories though!

Lets discover the Arctic this week:
6573 Arctic Expedition
Description: Released in 2000 for a retail price of about 12 dollars, today it goes MISB for slightly more, about 20 bucks. Containing 111 parts and 2 minifigs, this set was part of the system arctic series.
My take: I like the minifig accessories in this set, like the blue globe and parka, though I am not sure why there is a trans green spider to be found in the arctic!

My feature MoC will be the new Maverick, now more durable and ready for outdoor use!
Flickr
I also have several other MoCs I plan on bringing, possibly my BBCC 55 entry and a few other goodies. I might even put up prizes, who knows? I look forward to the event, meeting new people and putting some faces to a few of the people from BZP that will be attending. I will only be able to attend for the 1st and 2nd of October, but thats better than not right?

I have it at last, once I get my PSP charged, since I have not played it in awhile, I should be able to experience it. Does anyone else have it yet? What can I expect for both single player and online play? Ex-Death and Terra are probably my favorite characters.
Also, picked up a couple Gold Heist sets, one for me and one for sale! Nifty parts selection in these sets!

Came in today, still getting used to the widscreen monitor. Its a Dell of course, Inspiron with AMD PhenomX4 at 2.8 gigs. Still getting used to Vista as well, the internet browsing speed has increased quite a bit over the last computer.
So yes, I can finally view videos and stuff again! No more running IE without add ons, hooray!

This marks the weekly return of the featured set spotlight, 2000 or older, new entries will now be posted on Fridays. I delve into the dawn of lego RC with this...
5600 Radio Control Racer
Description: Released in 1998 at a retail cost of about 35 dollars, this item sells MISB today for about 80 dollars, a bit of a collectors item. Containing 293 parts and 1 minifig, this was the first RC racer set produced.
My take: Looks fun, but it is rather tiny. Still I bet it is light and pretty fast, I wish I had gotten it now.

Picked up this set, used and complete, in order to push forward with my RC vehicle project.
It has all the parts needed for my other motor with red wheels, which features a light. In the end I hope to have a customized RC vehicle, that works with power function parts in some way, perhaps a rotating chaingun or maybe a firing mechanism of some sort. I was pleased to see that most of the parts are directly compatible with technic pins/beams, this will make things not only cheaper, but easier. Look for updates to come soon!
