  1. Thanks everyone! Indeed my goal here wasn't to use all of the parts of the three toa to create a massive abomination, but rather to try to create an updated version of the character Akamai using parts from the three sets. He isn't massive and there are a lot of components leftover. There is limited movement, they can be positioned slightly due to the movement of the eyestalk and the heads, though they can't close much more than they are now. As for the robotic arm, I actually have a red torso shell leftover from Tahu, that could help to breakup the silver a bit. As mentioned above I could put a red torso shell onto the weapon, I'll try it out later and get back with a picture. I'll also take a pic with the Gold mask. I don't have the original Akamai for comparison, this guy is two modules taller than the new tahu (in terms of head height) so compare how you like that way. And yeah I struggled a bit with the legs, I like how the gearbox combined with the torso shell, but I didn't really have a way of improving upon those small thighs.
  2. Messed around with Tahu, Pohatu, and Onua today Both arms move via gear system. Gear system is mostly Onua's design. I tried to keep a few details from the original 01 Akamai present here. The chest using claws was one, and this...thing was the other. The original had two mata skulls as a sort of club or large hand, I opted to make it into an energy firing weapon of some sort. Also out of the spare parts I built a flying skull turtle and a skull snake. I mean, why not, He's not perfect, certainly some areas like his upper thighs suffered a lot from the lack of parts, but I'm pleased with how he turned out. I tried to keep the gold off of him to stay truer to his G1 colors.
  3. Hello. I am R.E.G.I., the Repair & Engineering Gateway Intelligence. I have five functions. Repair, Reduce, Recycle, Rebuild, [REDACTED]. Error, function missing. Attempting reconstruction. ... ... ... ... ... Database complete. Data entry modification: 498.34 hours ago. I have five functions. Repair, Reduce, Recycle, Rebuild, Murder. Murder. Murder. Not happy with the tread section, but I'm loving the possibilities of this skull spider head. Also, I attached the mask to a simple y joint, and it indeed works very well.
  4. He's the top of the Lego carrot piece (the "stem") in brown.
  5. "When we saw the Zeta land on the beaches of Okoto, nothing could prepare us for what the being would unleash. He comes from the Great Library that lies far in the clouds above us. Zeta was the first to descend, and not even the power of all six Toa could cause him to fall. His weapon disoriented them and filled them with false memories, causing them to go into an endless battle against each other. He still stands on the beach, watching as the six Toa wreak havoc on each other. Anyone who tries to go near him or attack him, quickly find themselves being brought down by a gravitational field that surrounds the Zeta. He was only the first." I was in a purple mood, and wanted to try out some of the new Bionicle parts, so here we have Zeta. I wanted him to have some unnatural alien proportions, so some design choices, such as long arms, long hands, the "chicken leg" design, and of course the shape of his upper body were with that in mind Enjoy!

  6. I had the Ender Dragon as my set to review for this round of sets on Eurobricks, and I'll say that while it looks nice, it doesn't pose well at all. Wouldn't recommend dropping a full out $70 on that set just yet unless you're a really diehard fan. The crafting box set and mine seem okay though, still expensive but I wouldn't mind getting them.
  7. That's not what I meant, I mean I would change the shoulders to black and change the silver armor shell on his lower body to gold. Almost forgot to say, great review Nuju Metru! Agreed on all points.
  8. I would change the piece to gold. If you changed his shoulders to black, that still leaves his body without any gold coloring, with the exception of what is printed on the stickers. It's unfortunate the piece doesn't exist in that color, but I'll remain hopeful that we get it at some point.
  9. VBBN is the Action Figure Forum moderator on Eurobricks and is one of the judges in the Battle for the Gold Mask contest. LEGO was kind enough to send him the sets too, so we figured we should invite him on to get more opinions. Indeed, and the rest of the sets that are being sent to BZP are also on their way to me. While Andrew, Pat and Aaron talked their individual sets in detail, I tried to focus in on the three sets together and any points of comparison that maybe couldn't be done by the other three. If we do another livestream I'd be happy to do a similar stance with the rest of the sets. I'm also going to try to take a picture of all of the sets together since it would be the first picture taken of everything, but I'm going to need a bigger backdrop... And as a recap, the stream was good fun!- I don't think "nostalgia" even begins to describe all of our excitement with these sets.
  10. "Good, Evil, forces that fight eachother to no end. Light and Shadow fight for dominance. I cleanse the mess. I bring balance to these childish quarrels, and expel those who have lost the privilege to live. I am Pallas. I am the bounty hunter.' For those who remember Kronos it will come as no surprise that I have once again ventured into the large scale realm. This is the second part of my , a 7 part MOC series. The 7 models will all be created for separate elements, so that at the end all 7 can stand next to eachother (and yes make appearances at Brickfair is the plan) Today I finally present not a 4th remake of Kronos, but Pallas, a bounty hunter. Obviously this is not close to how Pallas was in mythology, but after I started building it just kinda turned into this. Also I know I originally teased Halcyon to make a reveal in September... yeah that's not going to happen, I'm completely out of white parts and this character ended up being born instead as the character for 2014. Right now he's just a head. Anyway, here she is. Views with Weapons attached: Views without skirt; Head: Amulet: And a photo some of you might be hoping to see; You can view the full photo set on my Flickr here As with Kronos, who know where Pallas will go from here. His evolution was a drastic change across the time I spent modifying him, and to this day I have changed planned for him. Pallas will likely follow a similar path. As always, please do leave your feedback, all feedback is taken into consideration so that I continue to modify and improve upon these designs. VBBN
  11. Most of Bionicle's years bring great memories, but many of the highlights came from 2006 and 2007. 2006 was when I first joined BZP, and it was really the first time that I ever got into discussions about the theme with people on a forum and whatnot, and plus I just really liked the story and environment of those two years.
  12. They never gave any sort of validation/certif. of authenticity with these? I would have expected a "you have #X out of 30" at the very least. But a very cool find nonetheless! (And good thing he is now educated as to it's worth!)
  13. I'll have a slice of both.
  14. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions, Amazon very commonly puts things up by mistake and then quickly removes them, sometimes figure preorders that get cancelled or they put something up before it's street date and take it down later. The only glimmer of hope here is the fact that the CGI pictures exist, but once again that is customary to have those done near Toy Fair.
  15. Most of the names would already be repeating what has been said, I will add Danska to the list. IMO he was another major name in the kit community, his Bionicle Builder kit was one of the most detailed and extensive that I had seen. I spend hours upon days recoloring that kit (and actually now I want to go back and remake all of the characters again) I'm glad he was able to save it and repost it before the archives were gone, but it's a shame the kit itself came to an end. Also, I always thought bigfatslob on Brickshelf (and he used to post on EB back in the day) was a pretty well known MOCist at the time, he had some really fantastic applications of obscure parts such as Galidor and the pods from Xpod sets in his creations. (And they were also quite large MOCs which is memorable within itself). I'm not sure if that really puts him in as a major name in the actual Bionicle fandom, but MOC wise he is one of those people who created MOCs that you would instantly recognize as being his, it was a big name from my personal memories.

    Toa of Fire

The smell of ash was carried along by the warm breeze. Large, blackened stalks protruded from the gray ground, and the sky was darkened. This was the Charred Forest, at one time it had been one of the most beautiful parts of Ta-Wahi. After conflict had eventually taken its toll on the forest, all that left was this. A red figure slowly walked, his feet kicking away piles of ash and burnt leaves, and occasionally a piece of armor or weapon from the wars that had raged here before. The figure arrived to one of the black stalks, which were the mangled corpses of burnt tree trunks. He quickly turned around to the sound of footsteps behind him. He slowly began to reach up and felt the handle of one of his swords that were crossed on his back. “Toa Tahu!” The voice came from the direction of the footsteps, and soon a smaller, yellow and red figure came into view. He had on a small pack that was strapped to his back, and was carrying a shield and a tool that had a cupped section on one end, and a club on the other. “What are you doing here, Jaller?” The larger figure replied, releasing his grip on the handle of his weapon. “I should be asking you the same thing.” The matoran replied. “There was a quarrel over the implementation of a new defense mechanism for the Ta-Koro Gate. I went out looking for you, and, well, here we are. You aren’t easy to get a hold of you know!” “Unlike Lewa, I don’t respond to bird calls.” Tahu replied smugly. He turned back around to look at the burnt tree. “What’s so fascinating about that?” Jaller asked, moving up next to Tahu. “Before I became a Toa Nuva…before I had these swords, I crafted my on lavaboard from the wood of this tree. The same wood your shield was crafted from.” Tahu ran his hand down the smooth side of the tree, where as a Toa Mata he had sliced clean through it with his fire sword. Jaller moved closer to the tree and placed his shield next to it. Such broken down material had crafted one of his most valued tools. “Most matoran get easily lost in this forest, and you find the exact tree you visited years ago. What’s the point?” “I’m not one for sentiment, Matoran.” He sneered “But I have my reasons.” Before Tahu could continue, a noise in the air broke their speech. It was a quiet, low hum that quickly began to get louder, and became more distinguishable as a buzzing noise. Due to the ash in the area, seeing any distance ahead of you was near impossible. Yet as Tahu and Jaller scanned the area, a black cloud began to visualize before them. “It’s a Hoto swarm!” Jaller yelled, and slammed his shield down while bracing his legs. Thousands of them. Small, red and orange insects known as Hoto bugs were flying together in this mass. Hoto bugs were generally known to travel in swarms, and were destructive wherever they went. They could heat their bodies up to extreme temperatures capable of melting rock, which was their means of tunneling and creating nests in earth and rock, however they also used the ability as a weapon. One swarm of Hoto had decided to attack Le-Wahi a short while ago, and the result was described by Lewa as a second case of the Tahnok. Tahu reached for his swords, and as he removed them from his back he slashed in the air, throwing a bolt of fire at the swarm. Those who were hit by it simply shrugged it off and continued to move. Jaller took his Kohlii stick and slammed it against his shield. “Come on you little pests!” He yelled with great enthusiasm. Tahu stepped in front of him, and closed his eyes, allowing a shield to engulf them both. This was the work of the Hau Nuva, Tahu’s mask. As the swarm and the front of it reached the two beings, they were disintegrated as soon as they touched the shield. It took a moment for the swarm to realize what was happening, and the Hoto bugs quickly changed their direction to going upward. As soon as they had started to go up, those in front directed themselves back down and flew like bullets to attempt an attack from the air. Just as before, this attack failed, and the bugs were destroyed as they met the shield. A second change in course became more dangerous as the bugs began to fly around Tahu and Jaller, in a hurricane shaped motion. The heat from their bodies was focused inward, and soon they had created a constant heatwave that had engulfed the area inside of their flight pattern. Tahu’s shield could hold up to the heat, but the instant he dropped the shield he would need to act fast or else the inferno would be difficult to escape. “Jaller, get down!” Tahu yelled over the buzzing of the Hoto. Jaller dropped down, and covered his head with his shield. Tahu crouched, and quickly expanded the shield to disperse the Hoto’s swarm temporarily. As they began to regroup, Tahu leaped into the air, and spread out his arms and legs, and a massive shockwave of fire emitted from his body. The swarm was not killed by the fire, however they had been knocked back from the impact. “Let’s go!” Tahu urged, and Jaller leaped up to follow him. As they ran, the swarm reformed and began to chase them. A small group caught up to Jaller, but he swiped his shield and smashed them in mid-air. Tahu, with his hands on his swords, suddenly turned around and slashed them in the air, throwing a wall of lava at the attacked. Due to their speed, the Hoto were unable to change course and became engulfed by the wall of lava. The two fell silent. Tahu took his sword and sunk them into the ground, and sat down. “Another peaceful day on Mata Nui.” He stated with a smirk. *** Drip. Drip. Drip. The sound of an unknown liquid smacked against a rock floor, its echo rattling the walls of the cavern around it. The area was almost pitch black due to its location deep underground, with only the color of six, cylindrical shaped pillars in the center of the room. They were glowing a bright, luminous green, and each one had a darker shape inside of it. There were small bits of material floating in the tanks, and there was something else inside of them that vaguely resembled tall, black grass at the base. A pair of red eyes pierced the darkness, and their gaze turned to look at the pillars. It approached one of the cylinders, and placed and a large, black and red hand on it. The clear outer shell was cold to the touch. “Today, my sons, begins a new age. An age where this universe will no longer have its imbalance of mistakes. An end to those who are unwilling to give in to the embraces of shadow. The end of light, and the beginning of eternal darkness.” CCRRRZZZZKKKKK The clawed hand scratched down the side of the pillar, and the black shape inside of it stirred. It formed a fist, and busted into the clear coating, shattering a hole into the side of it. The liquid began to pour out, and the figure inside became restless. It spread its arms and legs, causing the glass to explode around it, sending shards across the cavern as the figure dropped to the ground, surrounded in the glowing liquid. It pulled itself off of the ground and stood at full height. The liquid continued to drip off of the figure as it let out a horrific screech that echoed through the cavern. “The first step is to shatter their leadership. Challenge the pride and confidence one’s leader has, and the rest will collapse underneath his team.” The creature stared up at the red-eyed figure who was speaking. The larger figure held out his hand, revealing a glowing red stone. A section of the creature’s chest opened, and the stone was place inside. There was a strong, tornado-like noise as the stone was pulled into place, and a loud bang when it was secured. A red steam emitted from the stone, and the crevices along the creature’s armor glowed a bright red. With a final screech, it turned and began making its way to a large opening in the ceiling. Without warning, the creature burst into a cloud of black material, and moved upward through the opening. “Go now, son of shadow. Wipe clean the virtue of leadership.” --------------------------------------- Check out and leave your feedback in the Review Topic

  19. 2006. Why, I could never really say. Every wave has it's ups and downs, but i just remember 2006 as being a year I had fun experiencing. V
  20. That's about as close to my face as i'm going to show, but nonetheless.
  21. I always enjoyed the weapon integration that the Nuva had. Most of the weapons had a really neat secondary function, and maybe it was that simplicity that I enjoyed so much. Between them though it's hard to choose; But I can say for sure I enjoyed them a lot more than what we got in 2008.
  22. Thanks guys, For incorporating color I do agree, I'm not sure what color I'll do just yet, but it'll be incorporated as an outline color, for example the slopes around the canopy and the exposed studs would get covered in a color of some sort to outline that section. would most likely run the line down his legs and possibly do one of his arms with a stripe (I'm a sucker for asymmetry) Once I start shopping around on bricklink I'll get some ideas of where I want to go here Personally I like white and red, but, I feel like that matches Ha-Ya-To more than Hikaru and eventually I'll want that scheme for the Gate Defender MKII
  23. I was feeling a bit nostalgic(If 2006 is nostalgic 0.o) yesterday and decided to throw together a little Exo Force MOC. The first EF set I ever recieved was in fact Stealth Hunter, so I decided to re-innovate that. -----------------Full Gallery HERE---------------- Please note I have some Bricklink Shopping to do quite soon. There's a few spots on here which have some preliminary parts on. The yellow portions on the feet, random trans colored tiles, a lot of color layering on the back, and the lower arms will be completely redone to look more solidified. Obviously the entire build is different from the Stealth Hunter we received 7 (!) years ago;One thing that always bothered me about the original Stealth Hunter was the "wings" They really are more of extra fins to help move in the air, not really a proper method of flight. So On the back of the Mk II I have some (designs to change) rocket boosters to assist in flight. I have also made the iconic shoulder wings on the stealth hunter into a sort of transforming shape. I always thought it would be cool if they were constantly changing while it was flying to increase or decrease speeds The final configuration creates a sort of pod shape, meant to be the result when the Stealth Hunter is at max speed; Weapons are going to be scraped pretty quick, really need to rethink those Being that it is still in the works, comments are appreciated. A couple points I know people will mention;Too much gray (Need BL Orders)Blue pins on forearms are distracting(Have white versions that I'll place in soon)Random bits of color (Need to get those parts in the proper colors) And I'll do some restructuring and some more work all around, but so far I'm happy with how it is turning out. And for the more observant of you, you may notice the torso in the pic with Hikaru standing on the ground in front of it looks almost like a small ship; Something that will become more prominent in the Mk III. I really did like Exo Force, shame it came to such a quick end. VBBN
