  1. We haven't forgotten that it's Chima month, and hopefully you haven't either. Today we're trying something new. Forum Assistant GSR recently kicked off The Chima RPG Collab Contest-esque Thing (Contesque?). What is that, you ask? Instead of having an RPG contest like in the Bionicle RPG forum, we're encouraging anyone and everyone to contribute to the creation of a single Legends of Chima RPG for all to play in. So check out the topic, put on your world-building hat, and get brainstorming! View the full article
  2. In an efficient way to announce to the masses, The LEGO Movie facebook page has changed their banner to announce the release of The LEGO Movie on DVD and Blu Ray: June 17. While none of the major retail outlets list the release, preorders are already being taken online. The LEGO Movie has made over $424 million at the box office, and soon you can enjoy the fun over and over at home. View the full article
  3. Sara Moore from the LEGO ReBrick team recently announced the winners of their 'Be The Special' contest. Entrants had to build an alternate model from any LEGO set they desired. You can check out first, second, and third place right here on the ReBrick blog. All three entries are fantastic - huge props to the winners! View the full article
  4. The entry period for our third contest over in System-Based Creation has ended, and now it's time to pick the winner! The poll for SBC Contest #3: For Chima! is live and you've got until 11:59 PM Eastern on Saturday, April 19th to vote. There's lots of great prizes from LEGO on the line, so head over and vote for the creation that best fits the animal theme! View the full article
  5. The LEGO Games by Traveller's Tales always receive high marks, partly because they are good games and partly because it's fun to run around a LEGO environment as your favorite character in minifig form. As a "Midweek Madness" sale on the Steam PC platform, you can get such loved games like LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, LEGO Batman 1 and 2, LEGO Lord of the Rings and more for $5 each--that's 75% off! Hurry though, as this sale ends on Thursday at 4pm Pacific Time. Then get busy collecting those studs! View the full article
  6. Christian Faber recently added a new entry to his blog. It looks like he's working on the upcoming minifig-scale Minecraft sets, and has put together a teaser image for us all. The chocolate egg contains what Google tells me might be a Blaze being released by a minifig with a delightful pickaxe. It's cool to see he'll be working on this new line! View the full article
  7. We haven't heard much about the Exo Suit since it passed the Cuusoo review last fall, but now something new has popped up. The New Elementary has unveiled the new logo they are going to use for the set. Furthermore, he writes an excellent article on how LEGO and the AFOL community is working together to promote this future product. It's quite a good read, and certainly builds up the anticipation for the model, which is expected to be released in August. Make sure to check it out! View the full article
  8. Microsoft TechNet blog The Fire Hose reports that the Hero Factory: Invasion from Below game has now become available for download in the Windows Store. It features everything the online version has except for LEGO ID sign-in, but this means you can now play the game on a Windows RT or 8.x tablet as well. It's obviously free but you will need over 300 MB of free space for the English version, which are mainly taken up by the cutscenes. This leaves only the Windows Phone version missing! 9. Starting yesterday, and going on through Saturday, April 19th, Toys 'R' Us is having a pretty sweet sale. If you buy one LEGO City, Star Wars, Super Heroes, Disney Princess, or Duplo set, you can get the second one of equal or lesser value for 40% off. You can check out the list of all the sets right here. It's a good variety, and not a bad deal, so check it out! View the full article
  10. Though the official release date for the new line of Simpsons collectible minifigs is this May, there may be a way to get your hands on some of them early: Some watchful members of the Lego community have reported seeing them pop up in Toys R Us and Wal-Mart stores across North America, going for a standard $3.97 apiece. Though I can't confirm this personally, it's worth checking your local retailer anyway, just in case. View the full article
  11. Lady minifigs are a rare but welcome sight in many LEGO sets, and director Chris McKay said he wants to make that ratio more equal with The LEGO Movie 2. In an interview being reported, McKay cited the Bechdel test, a Hollywood gender bias test, as something to strive for and something that helped shape Wyldstyle and Unikitty into such "interesting" characters in the first film. Various articles explain this further, and we can expect some more lady minifigs to appear in the next LEGO movie. Until then, we'll just have to keep collecting those five versions of Unikitty! 12. The Ninjago TV series continues! As LEGO KidsFest has tweeted today, Ninjago is returning in a new special event on Wednesday, April 16 6:30/5:30C. This time, it should be episodes three and four of the new season that are going to air, called "Black Out" and "The Curse of the Golden Master" respectively as far as I know. Don't forget to tune in or set your recorders! View the full article

  14. While painted and modified pieces are generally frowned down upon by the LEGO community, once in a while something exceptional comes up that truly does credit to the craft and shows us how beautiful non-production designs can be. These custom cut and painted masks by MrCod are precisely that exception. From reptilian armour sets to carefully rusted and corroded masks, his work defines the high end of the medium. Check it out! 15. Not too long ago we reported about the Ninjago song 'After the Blackout' by The Fold becoming available for download. Well, it turns out the band has released an official music video now. I'm no expert on music videos, but this one has some really enjoyable visuals and if you enjoyed the song, you'll certainly enjoy the video as well. I'm humming the song as I write this. Read on to watch to video! View the full article
  16. For today only, teefury has two LEGO Movie inspired t-shirt designs for sale on their site, available in several different colors. One is Benny's space program logo and the other is a Grumpy Cat/Unikitty crossover. Both designs are selling for $11 apiece, but you'd better hurry! The designs will disappear at Midnight EST, and there's no way bring them back. What are you waiting for? View the full article
  17. Philly Brick Fest is in two weeks, but there's still time to send your creations on the BZPower Convention Circuit. You're guaranteed to get some cool perks, you'll get a chance to win even cooler prizes, and your MOCs will be seen by thousands upon thousands of people. If you can't build anything in time for Philly, Brick Fair New England is only four weeks away, and you can send your creations to that event as well. If you can't come in person, we'd love to see your MOCs, and I'm sure everyone else who will be there agrees! Check out the topic and let me know if you're shipping things, the sooner the better! 18. For the rest of the month, visitors to the LEGO Store can get a free Marvel Super Heroes poster. Participants just have to take their picture with a cardboard cutout of a minifig hero on display at the store and share it online with the hashtag #LEGOStore to receive a fun poster! I was able to receive a Spider-Man poster, but no word on if there is more than one hero to get. Be sure to check out your LEGO Store for this before the end of the month, and remember it is while supplies last. View the full article
  19. Toys 'R' Us is going to be hosting a LEGO Movie building event this Saturday, April 12th, from 12PM until 2PM. Back by popular demand, you'll once again have a chance to build Emmet's car, as seen in the wonderful 'Everything is Awesome' montage in the movie. Looks like a cool way to get a free set and help flesh out your LEGO Movie diorama! View the full article
  20. The awesome folks over at ReBrick have recently launched a really cool contest. I hope you're ready to set sail on the seven seas, because you all have the chance to pick the name of the next LEGO Pirate ship. You have until April 13th, and can suggest up to five names. If you win, not only will your suggestion be used, but you'll also win a signed copy of the set! This is a really awesome opportunity, and I'm glad to see fans being engaged more in activities like this. Who knows what those guys will do next! View the full article

  23. Though you may have seen a couple of these sets in our Toy Fair coverage, official images of the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy sets have been released for community discussion (and some are available for preorder off amazon.uk). These new high resolution images include our first look at Rocket Racoon and Groot figures, along with some guy named Starlord. Who's that? View the full article
  24. LEGO time-lapse videos are always fun to watch, from the jittery motion of the builder to the seemingly living workspace around them, and this video, posted by the Legoland Discovery Center in Boston, is no exception. Watch the 12-foot Fenway Park model, an impressive 450 hour build, compressed into a frenzied . Whee! View the full article
