LEGO has released a new teaser poster for the upcoming Lord of the Rings sets. It features Aragorn, Ranger of the North, and what can only be Anduril, the sword that was broken. The public portion of BrickFair Alabama kicks off in about an hour. There's no real Bionicle presence, but myself, Watashi Wa, and Emzee are there having a good time. If you come find me today or tomorrow at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex between 11AM and 4PM, I'll take you to the BZPower guestbook and give you a prototype piece. I'm wearing a shirt that says 'Black Six' on the back, so it shouldn't be too hard to find me. See you there!

Jim Foulds, Community Guru over at LEGO, has taken a huge risk and revealed some information about the sets coming out, not next year, but 2014. Here's the paraphrase:
There will be red 2x4 bricks. There will be new minifig designs. And there will be something with wheels.
You heard it here first guys!

The new year is begun, but the future of the Ninja is filled with uncertainty. Lord Garmadon's son is attempting to step into his father's evil shoes, and has awoken ancient powers that seek to destroy the Ninja. Simultaneously, the Lego Ninjago site has received a major update, including full international support, new animations, detailed character bios and more. Also, there's a new fan wiki in town, this one dedicated to the popular Ninjago line, that could use help from fans with creating pages and the like.

The second release from the LEGO CUUSOO line is making its way to Japanese store shelves, handpacked in boxes as in days of yore. The set, Hayabusa, is an unmanned spaceflight vehicle; its Lego rendering is the result of a Japanese CUUSOO initiative that began in 2008.

What's that? You plan on proposing to your girlfriend with a Lego animation? You don't?Well, regardless the status of your relationship or plans for the future, it's still cool to see some other guy muster up the courage to do it. In Lego.I'm sure we'd all like to wish them well, and I hope his soon-to-be wife supports his Lego habit.

He may not have a scratched-up two headed coin to toss around, but his head is certainly two of something. The menacing Splitface is the next Hero Factory review for this series, who takes a fancy to mix-matching his armor every morning upon waking. What is up with that, you ask? Read on to find out!

It is time yet again for another 2012 set review. Today Forum Assistant Sisen takes a look at Thornraxx, the oddly-named insectoid villain. To see what this bug brings to the table, read on!

As the month progresses, we get closer to the next episode of the BZPowercast. In the past we had a segment called How-To BZP but we've been a bit lax on that recently. To restart things, we want to hear what you want to know. If you have a question about BZPower or the upgrade, send them to powercast@bzpower.com. You can record audio or just send text, but do it by January 20th. I look forward to seeing what you ask!

It's the new year, and LEGO has begun to roll out a wave of 2012 site updates. Top on the list is the new Hero Factory site advertising the Breakout line. Be sure to check out the Unity 3D game that came along with the update. The Dino site and City site are also among those receiving a new look. Go check out what's new and coming this year!

What better way to start the new year off than by browsing through a new issue of the LEGO Magazine. The January / February issue includes content on the new Superheroes theme, Ninjago, Hero Factory, Star Wars, Dino, and the Master Builder Academy. So if you get the magazine, keep an eye out for it in your mailbox.

While Lego being featured in non-Lego magazines is hardly news and magazines from November even less so, GaliGee proves that it's never too late to send in relevant and interesting articles. That's right, back in November a magazine for the National Society of Professional Engineers ran an article about Lego as a natural teaching aid for aspiring engineers, and we're just now getting around to reporting it. You can read the entire article here.

Today, we're bringing you an idea fresh off LEGO's CUUSOO site. BZPower Member Alyska (Or Bunyip on LEGO CUUSOO) has proposed an idea for a Constraction line of sets for girls. LEGO is currently targeting a female audience with their new Friends theme, but perhaps in the future they could create a theme of build-able figures, like in Bionicle or Hero Factory, aimed towards girls. It's a very interesting idea, and you can read more about it on its official project page and then form your own opinions on it. After all, LEGO CUUSOO is about getting new ideas from the fan base, and this one is clearly connected to the Bionicle community, so give it a look.

From today until January 7th, Toys 'R' Us is having a sale on all LEGO Board games. They're 25% off - not a bad deal at all! If you have some gift cards or cash from the holidays, a lot of the games are a fun way to enjoy LEGO with your family and friends.

It's not 2012 just yet, so I thought I'd sneak one more review in before the calendar turns a page. This time it's 7067 Jet-Copter Encounter from the Alien Conquest line. Read on to see if the copter can take down your shields and make its way into your collection.

The year is almost over, so that means it's time for a new episode of the Powercast - one day early even! As always you can grab it right here or subscribe via iTunes or RSS. Here's what you can expect:
Come celebrate the end of the year with the BZPowercast! In Episode 30 we start off by interviewing Windrider, one of our newly-promoted Forum Leaders. Then Takuma Nuva, Nuju Metru, and I take a look back at 2011 and all the BZPower and LEGO goings-on from the past solar revolution. After that, I talk to Nuju Metru about the new Tolkien license and what sets we'd like to see and what LEGO will actually make. McSmeag closes things out with a new recording. See you all next year!

BZP correspondent Gatanui contends that "Even if you are not in the target group... a look [at] the website should do no harm." However, BZPower can not guarantee this. That's right, the full Lego Friends site is now up, lacking only the promised game. It now has girly animations, girly bios, and girly quizzes, for all your girly Lego needs.

in BZPower.com News Discussion

LEGO has put out a press release clarifying their girl-friendly initiatives. LEGO Friends got a bit maligned a while back, but naturally, it isn't the only offering for girls. Additionally, the sets do require constructing, and are presented just like "traditional" sets. Read the full statement here.
