Since the forums came back, all members have experienced the fun of Premier Member perks like rank images and blogs. This has been our way of thanking you all for sticking around during the downtime. It's also given us time to work on a new, more integrated system for Premier Memberships. To that end I give you the <a href="http://www.bzpower.com/board/index.php?app=nexus">BZPower Store</a>, the new place to buy your Premier Memberships. Everyone will get to keep their perks until December 26th (Merry Christmas!), but starting today you'll be able to buy new Premier Memberships. Come next year there will be some more changes to the program, please read on to learn more.

Yesterday, we reported on the new teaser site for LEGO Friends, which is a new theme targeted at younger girls. But there were many questions raised about the theme: Why is LEGO doing this? What do they hope to gain out of it? How have their attempts in the past worked? Why did they move away from the traditional minifigure? Answers to some of these questions can be found in an article from <a href='http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/lego-is-for-girls-12142011.html?section=highlights' target='offsite'>Bloomberg Businessweek</a>, which takes a look at how and why Lego is trying to make sets for girls as well as boys. It's a very insightful article, so make sure to give it a read in order to understand some of the thought processes behind LEGO Friends.

LEGO has put up a <a href="http://friends.lego.com/en-us/Default.aspx" target="offsite">teaser page</a> for another new toy line. LEGO Friends will be targeted at young girls in an attempt to be the compliment to LEGO City, which is targeted more at boys. The sets will be fully System compatible, but instead of minifigs, there will be "minidolls," slightly larger and more detailed figures. I'm sure we'll be hearing more about this line soon and seeing it at ToyFair.

I think Toys 'R' Us has had some sort of Buy-One-Get-One 50% Off on LEGO sets for most of the month now. This week, the sale excludes just Star Wars sets. So if you're looking to pick up any of the 2012 lines that have just been released, this is a pretty good deal!

It brings me great pleasure to announce the latest two additions to the BZPower News Team. Please join me in welcoming William (Tolkien) and Micah (Kakaru), our new Reporters. Unfortunately, due to some issues stemming from the upgrade, they won't be posting news stories just yet, but we'll make sure they're ready to go! A huge thanks to both for agreeing to help out the site!

We've been a little slow to get word on this one out, but better late than never, right? LEGO has recently unveiled a new community site called <a href="http://rebrick.lego.com/" target="offsite">ReBrick</a>. It's a social bookmarking site - you find something LEGO-related on the Internet that you think is cool and you add it to the site. You can tag it, comment on it, and share it with your friends. It has a lot of potential to be a great way to find and share creations all over the Internet. Read on for the full press release.

I have to admit, I did not see this one coming. A decade after the movie adaptation of the Fellowship of the Ring hit the silver screen, LEGO and Warner Brothers have teams up to release Lord of the Rings and Hobbit sets. This is some amazing news and I'm sure there are going to be a ton of happy fans today. I know I'm one of them. I sincerely look forward to Toy Fair in a couple months where hopefully we'll get our first glimpse at these sets. There's a target="offsite">teaser site up now, and you can read on for the full press release.

The reports came flooding in today when Lego updated their website, adding such wonders as a news story about the Hero Factory game codes, a Hero Factory video, and various 2012 sets. Numbered among the newly available sets are Rocka, Splitface, Black Phantom, The Joker, and Green Lantern. Also, for those of you with some money to spend, Lego is offering free shipping on all orders above $50.

Today and tomorrow only, Toys 'R Us is having a buy one, get one 50% off sale on "all" Lego sets. According to the fine print, this excludes Dino, Ninjago: Rise of the Snakes, Super Heroes, Mindstorms, and sale items. Any other set is fair game, provided it is of equal or lesser value to the first one. <a href='http://trus.imageg.net/graphics/media/trus/121311_Ds_TRU_XMas_DOTD.pdf?csm=237406634&csc=1852120&csa=237891284&csu=1858333&camp=CME:EM121311A%2520Christmas%2520DOD' target='offsite'>Check out the full ad</a> and happy holiday shopping!

Our streak of 2012 reviews continues! Bfahome must have nothing better to right now, because he's churned out yet another look at one of next year's sets. This time it's from the Superheroes line, but this character is anything but a hero. Read on to see how The Joker stacks up in constraction form and if you should add his creepy head to your collection.

Earlier we reported that some of the new Hero Factory sets were showing up on the Toys 'R' Us site. But there was one problem; you couldn't purchase them online at the time. That has changed, as <a href='http://www.toysrus.com/search/index.jsp?s=A-ProductAge&sr=1&kwCatId=&origkw=hero+factory&kw=hero+factory&f=Taxonomy%2FTRUS%2F2254197&pg=1' target='offsite'>many of the new sets are now in stock</a>, so you could buy them right now. This includes some heroes like Surge, Evo, and Rocka, as well as some villains like Jawblade, Toxic Reapa, and Black Phantom. Sadly, Split Face is not in stock yet, but he and the others are likely to appear soon.
-
Another day and another 2012 set review! Bfahome steps up to the plate again to look at Evo (thankfully not Evo 4.0 or something silly like that) after reviewing his nemesis Toxic Reapa yesterday. Is he ready to take down the nefarious villain and should he be added to your collection? Read on to find out!

It may be 2011, but the 2012 sets are nearly upon us. So close, in fact, that they're here! LEGO has sent us some sets early, and here they are for you to check them out. First up, Bfahome takes a look at Toxic Reapa! Read and enjoy!

LEGO Community Team Dude Kevin Hinkle passed on word to the Ambassadors from the LDD design team:<blockquote>LDD will be updated on Jan 17th, to reflect the closure of DbM [Design byMe] and LU [LEGO Universe]. Since we are not constrained by the bricks available in either the picking location for DbM and the game for LU, we can broaden the amount of bricks available. People will still have the same possibility to document and share their LEGO models; we will substitute the DbM and LU themes with 2 LDD specific themes working in the same way, just with more bricks. Since the users can no longer order the model through DbM, we will add a list of bricks in a given model to the generated HTML building guide; that way people can use the list to find the bricks they need to build the model physically.</blockquote>More bricks sounds good to me, although it's still sad that you won't be able to buy your creations anymore.

As <a href="http://www.bzpower.com/story.php?ID=5356">we mentioned</a> back in November, Lego has launched a new Star Wars microsite for the 2011 Christmas season. Hilariously dubbed <a href="http://www.legosantayoda.com/"<iLegoSantaYoda.Com</i</a> the site is packed with Lego Star Wars Holiday goodies; a contest, a poll, and even a charity drive. Lego promises to donate one Lego set to the Toys for Tots program every time you share one of their Holiday Greeting videos, with (at the time I'm writing this) 664,401 sets left to give. Go check out <a href="http://www.legosantayoda.com/">the site</a>, and spread some Lego Star Wars holiday cheer while taking Lego up on their generous offer.

The last story contest was so popular that those crazy library staffies have decided to host yet another one. This time, it is a COT Short Story Contest, and it's holiday themed. Your goal is to write a Christmas (or other December holiday) themed story while keeping it in one of the following genres: either Apocalypse, Steampunk, Sci Fi, Mystery, or Fantasy. If you're interested in putting your pen to paper (or fingers to a keyboard) for this contest, then you can check out the rules and enter in the <a href='http://www.bzpower.com/board/index.php?showtopic=2164' target='offsite'>contest topic.</a>

By now, you've probably heard of the wildly popular online game <a href='http://www.minecraft.net/' target='offsite'><em>Minecraft</em></a>. Players build digital worlds from individual blocks, an activity that sounds rather similar to real-life activity with plastic blocks. An effort is underway to consummate the relationship between Minecraft and Lego by getting official Minecraft Lego sets made. With the help of the Lego Cuusoo program, Minecraft players are hoping to garner enough support to make the dream a reality. The full proposal, where you can pledge your support, is over on <a href='http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/4038' target='offsite'>the Cuusoo site</a>.

Battling the forces of Fang-Suei, the upgraded ninjas have new equipment and armor to fight off their new foes. The new Ninjago sets have appeared on <a href='http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Ninjago-ByTheme' target='offsite'>Shop At Home</a>, just in time for the holiday season. Check them out to see if they are worthy of your wish list.

It's Sunday, so that means a new round of Toys 'R' Us sales have begun. This week, there's a new buy-one-get-one 50% off on all regular-priced LEGO sets, excluding Star Wars, Ninjago, and the new Dino sets. Collectible Minifigs are 5 for $10, but you must buy five - still not a bad deal though. Finally, the Mindstorms NXT 2.0 set is $100 off. It's the most wonderful time of the year for savings.

2012 is getting closer, and it's starting to show - Toys 'R' Us has recently updated their online store with some 2012 Hero Factory sets. They're not all there, and they're not available online yet, but they claim to be available in stores. The prices seem a little high, but they're running a BOGO 50% off sale right now, so if you can find them you can nab them at a pretty reasonable price!

Our friends over at Biosector01 are having some difficulties, but they're working on the situation. The site will be back up faster than you can shake a Kanohi... or something like that.
-
Minifig collectors will be ecstatic to learn that the website has been updated with Series 6 minifigs and bios. Though the actual minifig designs have been known for quite a while, the bios are new. With a playful style and references to past Lego lines such as Blacktron and Time Cruisers, they're a great read for any Lego fanboy or girl.

Lego DC SuperHeroes Teaser Site Live
in BZPower.com News Discussion
Posted
Ace BZP news excavator Gatanui brings tidings of a new Lego teaser site, which is in turn heralding the Lego SuperHeroes line. <a href="http://dcuniversesuperheroes.lego.com/en-us/default.aspx">The page</a> has a quiz to test your DC Comics knowledge, a fun (if not very difficult) feature in which you identify DC Comics characters by their silhouettes, and a promise of a full site in January. Lego Shop@Home is still getting in gear for 2012, looks like it's going to be another good year for Lego.
