  1. I still have my copy of this video. Although cannot say I'm much of a Jack Stone fan now, when I was younger I absolutely adored him.The video starts as a news interview with different people from around the city (Ron Flame the Fire Chief, the police chief, and another person I cannot remember). All three share different stories about rescues performed by Jack Stone. In one, he saves the city from a flood. In another, he drives a burning building to the ocean to put it out. In the last, he stops two crooks from escaping with money stolen from the bank. It all reaches a climax when a breaking news story comes in - there is a man trapped on thin ice outside of town. Of course, Jack Stone arrives. He constructs a walking robot with a hook, saving the trapped man. He is then given the key to the city.Wow. I remember a lot more of that than I thought I did... There are likely a couple of inaccuracies, but that's the general idea of what happens anyways. If I'm not mistaken, the video was distributed free to members of the LEGO Club in mid 2001.
  2. I enjoyed both chapters eight and nine, it was interesting to see some of the history of the two main characters back to back. I think the most interesting part for me was the Exomyte, and how it apparently never stops burning. Now I'm wondering if the main character's attacker is somehow related to the people who wiped out the Cuhmeiri...
  3. Thanks for your replies, everyone! Most of the issues are in near perfect condition, however I got them from a variety of sellers so some of them are a little worse for wear (March-April 1995 and January-Febuary 1997 are the worst).I was actually quite uncertain as to where I might upload the magazines. I was considering Brickshelf or perhaps making a website using some free website maker. However, putting them on an already established LEGO site would probably be better- that way, more people would be likely to notice and enjoy the magazines. What site specifically were you thinking of? I know Brickset already has several Bricks n' Pieces issues...
  4. I recently aquired most of the rest of the MANIA Magazines (the LEGO Club Magazine Winter 1994 to March-April 2002) I hadn't already via Bricklink and I began to wonder whether it might be a good idea to upload the magazines for anyone to read. On numerous occasions, I have seen people mention how they wish something like this existed but it seems it has never been done. The BioMedia Project has generously offered to host the magazines. They are currently being added to [a page on a website with forums] page, and later will find a home on Project Brick when it is launched.
  5. IC: Matakite"I know only what Voima said," replied Matakite. "I hope that, despite his other lies, he was truthful when he told us of the staff. If so, it could be important in restoring Mata-Nui to peace."Unlike Tuanuku, Matakite had not considered the very true fact that they would stand no chance against Voima. His eagerness to begin taking action for the island's benefit had blinded him to reason. After a while of waiting, he asked Tuanuku a question. "Are you cold? We went to the inn in search of warmth, and yet here we are once more, waiting outside the Sanctum. As a Ko-Koronan, I have a natural resistance to the cold and I have no idea what you may be feeling. If it is bad enough, we may have a problem. We don't want to miss Voima, but deep cold will do nothing to aid your wounds."
  6. IC: MatakiteFate had brought events to a result that was convenient for Tuanuku and Matakite. They would be able to aid Voi in his quest. In addition, they would still be able to remain near to the Sanctum in case they got the opportunity to speak with Turaga Nuju.Once the group had departed, the two began to trace their steps back towards the Sanctum. "With luck, Nuju will by now no longer be occupied. We may be able to speak with him immediately, then concern ourselves with our new task."
  7. IC: MatakiteMatakite watched as Voima single-handedly took down the group of beings and stole the staff. The connection was not difficult to make - these were the beings and object that Voima had spoken of. And yet, the group did not appear to be malicious at all. Matakite's thoughts drifted back to the intial bad feeling he had experienced when meeting Voima. After a moment, he called out."Greetings! Perhaps my companion and I may be of asistance to you. Voima believes we are helping him, but I am beginning to doubt his authenticity as a true being of good. Assuming he is indeed a servant of the Makuta, we may be able to ambush him in some way. He says that we should wait for him at the door to the Sanctum, and he would not expect you to be there as well."
  8. IC: Matakite"I wish to meet with the Turaga in order to better understand what has taken place on the island as of late, and perhaps learn from him of a way in which I can do my part to end the recent troubles. What exactly is this quest you have in mind for us?"
  9. IC: MatakiteHe considered the Voima's offer for a moment. Agreeing to help would mean waiting yet longer to meet with the Turaga. And yet, the way in which the Toa had worded the question implied that someone may need help. Wasn't this the entire reason he had ventured back to Ko-Koro, in order to learn from Nuju how he could better help the denizens of the island? And there was no telling how much longer the Turaga might be occupied..."I may be willing to help," Matakite decided. "However, my companion and I had already planned to speak with the Turaga of the Koro. It would be best for us to reach an agreement on the matter before we make a final decision." He looked a Tuanuku. "What do you think? Should we assist Voima? Or would it be wiser to continue to wait for Turaga Nuju's consultation?"
  10. Chapter five was good, but for me, chapter six really stuck out. There was a lot of great word usage that set the mood quite effectively. The being in the void was interesting - it reminded me a bit of the conclusion to the 2001 Bionicle story, when Makuta (claiming to be the Void) became a swirling mass of parts that attacked the Toa.
  11. IC: MatakiteSo, this Toa, Voima, had control over the force of gravity? How strange. Matakite had lived on this island his entire life (or at least, so far as he recalled). Despite this, it had only taken a short time of being alone in the mountains for the island to change completely. It was a strange mix of familiar and unfamiliar that he still wondered at.He took a Bula Berry off of the plate. Removing his Kanohi to free his mouth, he was about to eat the berry when a Toa who had just entered collapsed with a strangled cry for help.
  12. IC: MatakiteIt seemed like a good idea. If eating truly did provide more energy, it certainly couldn't be a bad thing, especially during these dangerous times on the island."Yes, I believe it would be good to try," he replied to Tuanuku. Then he turned to the Toa. "Bula berries, like you suggested, would be a good place to start, I think. Although I rarely left Ko-Koro in the days before the great changes on the island, I often heard of Matoran in other villages who would absord energy from the berries. If that is the case, perhaps it may be easier to eat them?"
  13. OOC: Oh, sorry about that. I really should've been keeping up with the other posts...IC: MatakiteMatakite hesitated a moment before approaching the Toa. Something felt wrong. He examined the Toa. He was a color that Matakite had not known Toa existed in. Perhaps that also meant he had different powers? Yes, that had to be it, that was likely why the Toa seemed odd to him. When Tuanuku asked the being what eating was like, Matakite nodded to indicate he was also curious and followed him towards the Toa.
  14. IC: MatakiteIt took only a short time to reach the inn. The building was much larger than Matakite had remembered, likely to accomodate all of the new Toa and other strange beings that had been arriving on the island. Inside, the main room was empty, save for a single Matoran who served as the caretaker of the place. He briefly explained to the caretaker that they didn't need a room, but only sought warmth for a small time until they could return to the Sanctum. The caretaker nodded. "Would you like something to eat, then?"Matakite was considerably confused by this question. Eat? He was unfamiliar with the term, as he (along with all the other Ko-Koronans) had survived all of the years until the Toa disappeared by absorbing energy from Rahi caught by hunters in the drifts. It had never occured to him that people might taking in energy by actually digesting a substance."I'm afraid I don't understand..." he trailed off. "Tuanuku, do you know what he is asking?"
  15. IC: Matakite"Unfortunately, I know of little in the form of entertainment," Matakite replied. "we people of ice spend much of our time silently comtemplating the will of Mata Nui. Still, there seem to be many others beyond just Ko-Koronans in the village now. It is possible they may have brought with them new things to be done in their spare time."As they began walking back into the village, he continued, "Yes, every building here is constructed of ice. It is a cold material, but strong and reliable in this eternally frigid land. Unless the fires of Ta-Wahi were to overtake the village, the ice will always remain as it is. There are legends that say the Great Beings chose to carve the Sanctum from ice so that the wisdom written on it's walls might remain forever."To answer your first question, there is an inn nearby that may offer some warmth. We can seek it out, if you wish."
  16. IC: MatakiteThere was already a group meeting with the Turaga, so Matakite and Tuanuku had no choice but to wait until they were finished speaking with him."They may be in there a long while yet," Matakite said. "would you mind if we returned to the village center for a time? No doubt there are many people still here whom I haven't met since I left the village, and it would be good to know how they have fared in my absence."
  17. Hello,I joined the BZPRPG back when BZP first came back. I was only participating for a short time before Friar Tuck disappeared, which happened to be just as my character went to visit Nuju. I decided to wait for him to return, but after a while, I completely forgot. So, I'd like to apologize if the absence of my character inconvenienced anyone in any way. I guess I'll be jumping back in now from where I left off.
  18. Cederak's review is so in-depth that I feel almost silly giving my feedback on chapter four, but regardless I'll continue. As always, the chapter was good. I think I'm most excited by the your mention of how the source of the forest's power will be critical to the story. It sounds like it will be an interesting plot dynamic!
  19. Chapter three was great. I really like introduction of the Vorox as a permanent character, it's very unique idea that seems like it could add a lot to the story.I feel like I'm just restating what Lord Darkon said again(sorry ), but the idea of the Vorox becoming good was my favorite aspect of the chapter.
  20. Thanks, everyone. I really can't take credit though - I'm fairly certain that I only discovered that link when someone else linked to it in a topic similar to this.I always assumed the loss in sound quality was somehow a result of adding the text, but really I have no idea. One thing I've noticed before is that, sometimes, the different sound effects and music cut off at different times in the different versions. For example, take the beginning of the Le-Koro Liberated - that first bit of music that plays runs twice in the low quality version. Although I have absolutely no experience to speak from in modifying SWF files, I thought maybe that might mean the sound from the original versions was taken out, and then edited into the text versions. Could that possibly account for the loss in quality? If so, it would also imply that the sound was somehow tied to the text problem - why take it out and then re-insert it if you don't have to?I would love to try to fix the text in the versions with the better sound, but I really have no idea how.
  21. The sound quality in the most recent versions with the text is definitely lesser quality than the originals, although I'm not sure as to why. Most of the episodes can be viewed in their original quality (but minus text) inthis topic from the old forum (the link to episode 1 doesn't seem to be working).
  22. I agree with Lord Darkon, the story was quite interesting, especially with the mysterious clouds. The story did a good job of making me want to read more- always a good quality in a story.Good luck in writing the next part!
  23. I've been wondering about Templar's status lately as well, but I didn't want to contact them as I didn't want to come across as rude. Anyways...Maybe it is the nostalgia talking, but to me Mata Nui Online Game is a masterpiece. Templar managed to create what I would consider a perfect game.Although everything about the game contributes to its overall effect, the greatest part is, of course, the story. Templar took Mata Nui, already very unique after its creation by LEGO, and made it an incredible island filled with adventure and mystery. Each part of the story just inexplicably fits together in a seamless flow, from the moment you awaken on the Ta-Wahi shoreline to the battle with the Makuta, which is even more remarkable considering the ending we got wasn't even the original intended one. One of the best things about the story, in my opinion, was all of the underlying themes, tying in with ancient cultures around the world (it is for this reason Ko-Wahi is my favorite, with it's meditating and vision-having Ko-Koronans). The characters, as well, are all remarkable, each one with a vibrant and unique personality. The main reason I've come to dislike Bionicle beyond 2004 is because, to me, the character were all flat and uninteresting, following the same two or three sets of characteristics. I understand that there were tons of new characters flowing in each year, and it would be impossible to have them all be unique, but for whatever reason even the characters so well-defined by Templar were later watered down and became indistinct. In addition to the wonderful story, the art style, while simple, is extremely effective. The carefully detailed landscapes make me feel as if I'm actually there (the art of Mata Nui Online Game II was not as impressive to me, it seemed as if less effort was put into it). The music, as well, is incredible and does well at setting the mood.Thinking about my favorite moment, I find that I simply can't choose one. There are just too many good ones- Tahu looking back at you through the smoke, the opening of the sundial, riding a Kahu, traveling to the Kini-Nui... the list just goes on and on.Overall, there is simply no way I could ever thank the people at Templar Studios enough for creating this game. It is without a doubt the greatest part of Bionicle and, dare I say it, all of LEGO.
  24. Sometimes I wonder why The Brickster seemly goes between wanting to disassemble LEGO Island and committing robberies in LEGO City. As far as evil doings go, they're pretty much on opposite ends of the spectrum. :PAnyways, another comic has been added.Edit: Spaceport comic "Journey to the Moon" has been added. Interestingly, the issue it is in seems to have been published in 2002, while the original Adventures edition of this magazine was published in 1999.Edit 2: City Center Comic "Coastal Rescue" has been added.Edit 3: Continuing in the order the comics were published, the Soccer comic "Decisive Kick" has been added. Come to think of it, it was probably really named like "Winning Kick." Oh well. :PEdit 4: Sorry for the lack of updates in the past few days, my internet connection hasn't been working for the most part. Hopefully I'll have another comic finished soon.Edit 5: Although someone on another site may have scans of the English magazine soon, I've gone ahead and translated the City Center comic "Race in the Sky."Edit 6: Knight's Kingdom comic "Cunning Plan" has been added. Apparently they weren't to creative when it came to naming comics. :PEdit 7: City Center comic "Special Cargo" has been added.Edit 8: Assuming you're still following the topic, jamesster (and anyone else who may have been following but not commented), I've added another comic even though I believe the topic has died. I apologize for moving so slowly with updates lately, but in an inexplicable turn of events my internet connection has been crashing whenever I use Google Translate, so I have only been able to work on this during lunch at school.
  25. I'm definitely planning on translating them all, now that I know how. I'd be happy to do that comic next as well. Not including the Jack Stone comics, there are only 19 left, so it hopefully it won't take too long... you know, if a month or two is considered a short amount of time. :PEdit: I've updated the first post with the comic, apparently titled "Skateboard Chase." I've also added a few notes about the comics that I had forgotten about.
