  1. Good. I'm tempted to get a Stars or two, but their price just isn't attracting me

I know whatcha mean. If you think about it though, the Stars are pretty much the same size as the Toa Olda and they are the same price now. The Olda are arguably much more cool, interactive, and they had more pieces though to be sure. Just a thought on the size...

  2. I like what I see so far. Is this going to be a monopod or biped? I can see it going either way, but I think I prefer monopod. That's what I thought it was when I saw the lower leg/wheelfoot assembly, but then I read something about duplicating that bit.

Anyway, I'd suggest changing the hand and/or corresponding arm; the discontinuity between the flared Inika arm and hand isn't doing it any favors. At the very least, I'd dump the Viking horn claws. Also, change the 2x2 dish on the eye to a transparent color.

It's hard to tell without better pics, but the back part under the spines looks like it could be too blocky, and I'm not sure what's up with the black ball joint there. I do like the engine bit, and some glowy bits in the end there would be cool.

You know, I really haven't thought of the possibility of doing a monopod... I kindof like that idea, but I'll toy with it.

I'm not entirely sure what you meant with your advice about the arm. What do you mean by "flared" Inika arm? I don't quite see the discontinuity you referenced...

I sortof envisioned the "claws" for ripping opponent's metal structures, hence the viking horns. Good suggestion on the trans dish though.

I can see how you would think that about the back jet area, but I'm not quite done with it yet. I still need my Pridak set to come in so I can. There are several more fins I need to add, which will then cover up that area.

Thanks for the thoughts Arpy! :)

  3. This is definitely the Atlantis set I'll be getting, it's got all the perks of Atlantis (Red slopes, diver, ring, trans-neon-green Barraki eyes) as well as an awesome monster with Kiina fins, black-Exo-arms and lime tails.

Unfortunately it's an exclusive set, which means higher prices with less sales. <_<

I missed the trans-neon-green Barraki eyes; those should be sweet (not to mention all of the other black/lime parts you mentioned!) ^_^

What does it mean to be an "exclusive" set? Can you only get it online?

  4. I liked that black/lime thing more than Deev's Shockwave. Did you kill it so soon?

Nah, I didn't kill it; it's still in a drawer here. I just wanted to build something new (I'd worked on that one a while) with a different color scheme than black and lime green. I still plan on finishing that old one, don't worry! ^_^

    Also, thanks BD. :)

  5. On the whole, the BBC has been lacking (with the exclusion of the MOCs made for BBCs and such).

With few exceptions, the BBC is full of generic humanoids. I really wish that the creativity of the last contest could be found all the time, instead of a few isolated incidents.

I totally agree on the creativity of the last BBCC. It really... stretches your imagination, using odd pieces in new ways, does it not?

I agree on the overall BBC too; I just wish I had more time for reviews... perhaps I will this Spring (my non-profit's down-season).

  6. Great job man! You're a much better builder than I'll ever be!

    -BD

What?!?! I thought the same way about YOU! :o Actually, you've kindof been my motivation and inspiration for continuing building, not to mention you were (and are) one of my main sources of inspiration of MoCing to begin with. Man, thanks for the compliment; that means so much! ^_^

But... really, I think that you are the better builder. ;)

I find it funny how everyone thinks my Roller Coaster is so great; to be honest, I thought it was a little simple and not that interesting when I built it. I guess that sometimes there is a beauty in simplicity that I was having trouble seeing. Also, I was blinded by the presupposition that you have to have spent a long time on a MoC in order for it to be good. This, of course, is false.

I'm very hopeful about my next creation... oh yes.

  7. When I checked all of the polls when they were closed, that poll actually had no votes at all, although the counter was still showing a large number, so it might be a glitch.

    Yeah, must've been...

Or the majority chose to null.

That would be an amazingly large amount of members nulling, and considering the fact that they didn't null anywhere else I highly doubt it. ;)

  8. Too awesome.... Tell me when the polls are up??

    :kaukau: -JG

lol, I'd be afraid of being DQ'd! But nah, I can shoot you a PM considering that you asked for one. ;)

Also, thanks for the comments Velox and ChocoFrogs! ^_^ It's odd, that I was simply thinking of this as a "doodle" MoC, and yet you like it so much... Beauty is in the eye of the beholder indeed!
