Yay, Inktober! Best of luck with that!

 

As for the art itself, looks really cool. And pretty close to the set, as far as I can tell. I also l enjoy the screentone-ish background.

Literally the only 'criticism' I could offer is that the perspective on the head looks a tiny bit off, but that's about it IMO.

 

This was done digitally, I presume? (just curious)

And are you planning to do more Bionicle-related Inktober pieces? :>

Hmm... good question actually. I took a quick look at my Inktober list and I see a few candidates:

Day 06 Water

Day 17 Electrocution

Day 19 Scorched

Those are the only other three that really apply to Bionicles. I mean, Day 09 Lingerie and Bionicle don't exactly... you get the idea XD

It's been... centuries since I last made Bionicle fan art (it's been a while since I last posted here too), but when my Inktober list had "Masks" in it OF COURSE I had to make it a Bionicle drawing!

If it's not already obvious, this is Toa Pohatu Mata collecting a Noble Rau and a Noble Ruru. His design is based on the style of the movies. I've tried my best to work backwards from the concept image of Pohatu Nuva and make him resemble the 2001 lego set.

Is this project still live?

 

Yup. Just paused for a bit due to exams and other duties. Am also reconsidering some crucial elements of the original conception but yes, it's still alive.

 

Hmm, yeah, I'm really tempted to volunteer, but I'd hate to be part of something to only watch it crash and burn again like MNOG3D.

In case you're wondering, I was one of the asset modellers for that project and the first one to join up (I believe).

I can do almost anything in 3D, especially now that I'm also doing a bit of sculpting. I can also animate. But I need to know what level of dedication this project has.

Is this project still live?

Yeah...I need to scrape a team together for MNOG 3D...

I still have access to a number of assets.

If/when I get my stuff sorted out here in Denmark I'll pick the project up.

But first things first, I'll need to actually get a computer for myself.

No point in developing this project from library and school computers.

There's already a really good looking bionicle skyrim mod in the works by... russians I think?

Sorry I haven't been able to get the videos, they're on indefinite hold as of now. I've got too much work, and my computer was confiscated during break almost right after I posted that comment.

The project is currently on hiatus because Owl can't work on it for the moment.

Look for his last post, it explains it.

But the question is... Was likhan's mask when he was a turaga a normal noble hau, or was it still a 'special' version? I mean, the mask transformed when he transformed. So it transformed following a natural process programmed in likhan. So, did the mask transform in an 'unnatural' shape of noble hau, or did it transform into that which is programmed in the matoran universe? I don't think I am expressing myself correctly...

 

 

Anyways, if someone has understood this rant, think about it.

 

Many people have already, and I've seen a fair share of topics about that already in the Story and Theories section of the forum over the years.

Personally I blame it on movie befuddlement.

There are many reasons why I like the Bohrok and all their ilk.

They have an awesome streamlined design that looks like a sports-car designer had a go at it.

They could transform and roll, smash people to next week and have these cool contrasting colours between the main body and the eyes/kranas.

The ability to launch its little brain/soul thingy and assimilate others like some Borg collective was a major part of why I liked it so much.

I loved the idea that it was both a strength and a weakness at the same time, and instead of being some attachable tool was an actual

part of their body, a part of who they were.

Will you be making any custom masks?

The only custom masks being made are the three noble masks of the Pakari, Hau and the Kaukau.

Though I'm not to sure of that.

Besides those there will be no custom masks.

Though there will be some variant masks, like the Rahi masks from MNOG.

So back to the world of talking about the MNOG 3D Project, how is it going on the island?

Like Owl said, hiatus. Not gonna let that stop me though, there are a ton of masks to do and I intend to have at least half

of them done before we get back on track.

When the rest of the team does come back you can count on it that the objective for the second pre-alpha release is the same;

Onu Koro and the space thats in-between to get there.

This is great!

The only criticism I can give is that some names sound too much like ones that already exist.

 

OF COURSE! HOW COULD WE BE SO BLIND! That bright red color! The gold! Jaller IS a templar and Matoro was trying to get rid of him! (Get it? Cuz the piece attaching his neck connector foot was attached to his body by a red technic beam. Red+white = assassin? No? Ok...)

Set trivia:

They wanted an updated version of the Hau to fit the new Metru heads.

My opinion:

They messed up. I could've made a much better redesign of the Hau that stayed more true to the original than that.

But yeah... thats me.

Besides, its not just a mask thats available to you. Only the 12 basic masks are available from the get-go from the very beginning.

All the rest you need to unlock by finding or doing quests. Of course, the rarer the mask, the harder the quest you need to do to obtain it.

And since Lhikan's Kanohi Hau is supposed to be a one of a kind special story wise, the quest that is needed to obtain it is....

ASSASSINATE JALLER!!!

BTW: who's Don?

Don the real main character of Mask of Light Movie, everyone was talking about don on this topic.

 

Unfortunately I cannot find anything about this Don.

The link to the Bionicle Wiki page for Don has been deleted, and BS01 comes up with no results.

Pitty, would've made a nice cameo in-game.

Nope. Its no particular Matoran.

You have to make one yourself (Element, mask, colors).

Made by Egyptians ages ago because they foresaw that they would fall, and needed a foothold into the new modern world.

Now we all use it like a normal daily thing, while we're all really being slowly brainwashed to be the slaves of the Egypt of

the new world when they come back in their pyramid starship.

The last game I played (at the time of writing, last night) was Age of Empires 3, with both expansions.

He's one of those tinfoil hat wearers, or those so called big conspiracy theorists!

They all preach about conspiracies and all that but we all know what they're really about!

He's a government agent, like the rest of them, who's there to weed out all those who speak up against the government!
