I definitely agree the BCS system's acronym could stand for something MUCH more accurate. Unfortunately, there are many obstacles for a playoff system as well. One is that, despite its controversy, the BCS system is still wildly popular, and is a cash cow for commercialism. Another issue is that a tourney bracket for football would either contain not enough teams or it would take far too long for practicality's sake. Let's say you choose an eight team tourney. That would make it perhaps a three week tourney if teams are to play one game a week. Not terribly long, but it definitely wouldn't do much better than the current system in its selection criteria. Now let's say you have a sixty-four team tourney. That would make a seven-week long tourney, which isn't very practical. Understand that football is a much more physical sport than basketball, and takes a toll on the players. You'd kill them if they played games like athletes in March Madness do.Although I do agree there could be something better.
