My artwork on Istagram How long has he been lost? Months ago? Years? Yesterday? Time seemed to have stopped. His new home is in such dark mountain depths that he is always not sure about the time of day. And he cannot just abandon his great find, fearing never to find it again. Victim of his own curiosity. A real metal star that has fallen from the sky beckons with its mystery. It’s alien, but somehow vaguely familiar. The new home defined his new way of life. Since time has stoped, there is nothing better than to watch the sky and Record. The сircle on the ground helps to observe the formation of new story. Let the Bioventure begin. The creation of this instagram account was inspired by the fantastic work of Christian Faber. I’d like to experiment with Biological Chronicle’s ideas and concepts, trying to make the next step in its biolution and biovival.

Apparently, despite probably being designed for printing, this is getting a lot of attention on other sites, and I am apparently one of the only people to actually do it. So uh.. here's the 2010 GSR poster printed by my local UPS store. Note: Just to clarify in case there's any confusion, I didn't make this. It's literally just an official Bionicle.com image circa 2010, printed onto a giant sheet of poster paper. I just want to make that clear, since is seems like some people don't remember the original image. http://biomediaproject.com/bmp/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/BIONICLE-2001-20102.jpg Surrounding posters for scale:

I've discovered a rather curious post-doctoral research project by Dr. Benedikte Brincker of the University of Copenhagen. The paper itself is an interesting read, if you're into that sort of thing, but more relevant to BZP is the fact that Brincker quotes portions of an interview with someone she identifies as AD, the "designer of Bionicle." Given she specifies that he comes from Advance, it is likely that AD is in fact Christian Faber, seeing as Faber was one of the key players in BIONICLE's development, and the only member of the original story team to come from Advance. Here are the portions of the interview that are copied into the paper. Brincker was mostly asking him about BIONICLE's relationship to it's fan community, what that meant, and how it could develop: The paper appears to have been published as early as 2002.

I am quite intrigued by the interesting things Faber has been posting to his website (it's great that the front page shares updates. Though now I placed it in my RSS feed). Two things: First, I threw together this wallpaper with the MoL unused poster he posted. Because that's what I do: I make wallpapers I'll never use from cool images. Second is his What about the future? entry with a cool and mysterious image and taglines. (Check it out because I won't deeplink it.) Color me intrigued! Probably more biomechanical stuff, in our world, and animals and the ocean and whatnot, and some promises (albeit from the creator, so it's biased, but what isn't these days?). It'll probably be better than Hero Factory at least...and reward the Bionicle fan a whole lot more with any luck. -CF
