Toa of Gallifrey
Thought it'd be fun to see a general thread debating power levels in the BIONICLE universe. Can a Glatorian's elemental powers rival that of a Toa's? Are the Toa Nuva the strongest Toa in the Matoran Universe? What can survive a Nuva Blast? Is Good Guy stronger than Bad Guy? Discuss away. Toa of Ice - 1987
Obviously the Toa Nuva are on top, not because they were the first Toa we were introduced to. But because they are evolved team that possess greater control, their mask power can be shared with anyone in the vicinity. This was the norm until 2008 when they received the adaptive armor.
Toa of Gallifrey
It's peculiar how the Toa Nuva are just about the most powerful Toa, yet they get constantly kneecapped in-story through the theft of their Nuva Symbols and the Adaptive Armor, which limits part of what makes their powerlevel so high. The first time it makes narrative sense, but the second time it isn't really expanded on how they have to change the way they fight. I do have to ask (particularly since I haven't read the first 06 book in a while), how did the Toa Nuva get curbstomped by the Piraka? The Piraka also stole their masks, so by the time they were ready to fight, they were weakened, and finally beaten by Brutaka, who was somewhat pumped up on Antidermis at the time. Cheesy Mac n Cheese
I guess I should also add that other than Teridax, the Toa Nuva had no prior experience fighting intelligent, independently-thinking beings. The Bahrag and Bohrok-Kal were the closest to this, but the Bahrag were so dedicated to their mission they weren’t really independent thinkers, and once the Bohrok-Kal started deviating from the Bahrag’s orders, they basically beat themselves without the Toa having to do anything. Master Inika
I do have to ask (particularly since I haven't read the first 06 book in a while), how did the Toa Nuva get curbstomped by the Piraka?Greg’s answer was always that they didn’t expect any resistance on Voya Nui and were unprepared to fight anybody, but the real answer, obviously, is he needed them out of them out of the way so he could focus on the Toa Inika. Also Tahu is an idiot It also could be, to some degree, that Zaktan realized early on that the Toa Nuva were not regular Toa. To his credit, when he has them defeated, his plan is to throw them into the volcano as soon as possible (and that doesn't happen because of circumstances outside his control). It is painfully obvious whenever the BIONICLE story needs to somehow limit the power of ridiculously overpowered characters, whether it's the Makuta in 2008 being either blinded or mutated, or characters just having to act uncharacteristically unintelligent. 2 Quote "You are an absolute in these uncertain times.
