cank2 Posted September 24, 2025 Posted September 24, 2025 Hello, i wanna piece together my Bionicle/HF figures and fortunely one of the two pieces bellow was still on him, it sais 10-01 on it so i looked up and found the other one, it does look a bit beaten up and i thought i could use another one, tho it will have a different number. So my question is does it really matter wich number is on it and should i match them for my other figures. And if so can i even figure this small number out for each set? I was just lucky that he was mostly complet, otherwise i would have just taken pieces with different numbers. Quote
Nato G Posted September 24, 2025 Posted September 24, 2025 The number doesn't matter at all. I don't think there's anywhere that sells second-hand parts that would even be that specific in differentiating parts. 1 Quote Stars Apart - My Debut Novel - Out Now! Chronicler06 Posted September 25, 2025 Posted September 25, 2025 (edited) As far as I'm aware, the only purpose of that number being different for identical parts is for manufacturing purposes, specifically which section of the mold that specific piece was cast from. (I've noticed tiny pieces can have numbers up into triple digits, while larger pieces typically have numbers only as high as around a dozen, which makes sense when you understand that you can fit a lot of small pieces onto the same size mold that fits only a few large pieces.) I guess the reason for having that number on there is that when the pieces go through quality control at the factory, if there's a similar defect on pieces with the same number, workers will be able to identify which part of the mold needs to be corrected to remove the defect. Anyway, for us consumers, that number is completely meaningless (unless if you're super OCD like me where I like to arrange those identical parts in numerical order, an admittedly wasteful habit that really slows down how quickly I can assemble a set).
