there's a spam problem with the forums at the moment. i've been reporting these fraudulent topics, but there are many of them. could the staff/moderation team take action to remove these posts and take mesures to prevent this from happening in the future. thank you.

the fake post outnumber the real posts 8 to 1, with the same topic being posted multiple times.

yeah, I noticed that, far more than usual. seemingly the same spam bots are even creating multiple accounts. they're not particularly good bots, either

I feel like giving trusted, active members the ability to delete topics would be a nice idea. I'm not even talking about adding anyone to the staff, just give a few active people the ability to delete these posts so they're not sitting there for three or four days. Blog owners already have the ability to delete comments on their blog entries.

Yeah, I've seen ones like this popping up in especially B/S/T and the off-topic forums occassionally for a while now (I always try and report them when I happen upon them); this is the first time I've seen them spill to other boards as well though, at least in any great number. I guess there's not really any way to implement tighter security measures to stop the bots getting onto the site in the first place, is there?

Loads of forums that still exist in actual forum format have this issue. Could some kind of proper human verification for sign-ups work? I'm not sure about the practicality of that vs how many registrations happen, but it's definitely a big problem and seems to happen a lot

Things should be cleaned up now. We recently tried switching to a new verification system for registration since we were getting one or two bots a week. It seems like the new system was a lot worse than the old one, so we switched back.
