Actually... the Android market does suck. I have an Android phone and I must admit, it isn't quite as user-friendly as the Apple equivalent is. I still have a hard time getting used to it, and there are a ton of worthless apps in there. At least Apple regulates the apps on their markets. And iTunes is great! ... But then again, I do run it on a Mac, which is smooth as ice.

I'm publishing on the Android market soon (maybe next week). The fact that it isn't regulated means that lots of fantastic apps are available in the Market that wouldn't in the App Store - for example, Opera web browser.I don't see what's not user-friendly. Here's a screenshot of the main screens of the Market, the Apple store and the Appstore: The Market and the Apple store are quite similar now - most of the tabs in the Apple store are one swipe or button away in the Market, and the other one is two button presses (Menu -> My Apps).Amazon is simpler, with the same way of getting to your apps as the Market. Also, they have app approval like the Apple store. I think the Amazon Appstore is the most user friendly of the three, personally, but I still prefer the openness of the Android Market.I don't think any are that much better or worse than any other. The App Store has more apps, sure, but not that much more anymore, and does anyone really use the majority of those 300-odd thousand apps?

The thing with the iPod/Phone is that there's only 6 total different versions which update with each iOS. And only 2 iPads. That makes the app store much easier because if you're updated and have atleast a 3GS or up, which you probably do with periodically expiring contracts, 99/100 you can download the app and have it function properly. Another good point is that there is no worse iPhone. Only better ones. The only downside that I don't like is the regulation.I would totally get an Android if they were only Droid phones, not over 100 different types of phones available. Apple is consistent with everything, which makes things 10x easier for the developers and consumers.Maybe it's my inner Apple Fanboy but I would rather have an iPhone with less features than a Droid just to have a decent phone which everyone knows and has.

Look at the Iphone, unlike normal cellphones like mine where it's clunky and difficult, the iphone's keyboard is digital and you can tilt the phone to change the view.

The iPhone is very nice, but screen orientation and on-screen keyboard are nothing new (although Apple's iOS devices use a gyroscope for precise movement detection).

Only from 2010 onwards, and everyone else does, too. But certainly their on-screen keyboard is the best (stock) on-screen keyboard available. Better than the Android 2.3 and certainly 2.2 keyboards (discounting aftermarket solutions like Swype and SwiftKey X, because they're better). Edited October 17, 2011 by +ravrahn

I just recently bought the LG Thrill, which runs Android, and I gotta say it's a fantastic phone. I haven't explored the market too much yet, so I can't comment on that, but I don't imagine I'll have much use for it anyway—I've never used too many apps beyond the simply practical ones. The 3d camera is a very cool feature to play with, as well, but the main thing for me is the music player. I'm SO happy I don't have to deal with iTunes. I run Windows on my home computer, and the Windows version of iTunes is such a ridiculously feeble program that I'm pretty sure it's just designed to pressure people into buying Macs. With Android, it's just an issue of dragging and dropping songs into the phone like a USB drive. Refreshing. Anyway, did anyone else hear that Steve Jobs was adopted? His biological father was actually a Syrian casino owner and self-made millionaire. It seems to run in the family.

I don't have any personal grudge against Apple, but I've met far too many people who see having the latest iPhone as a sign of social status. At times, it almost feels like a type of class warfare. On the other hand, I may just live in a place particularly full of bigots... Also, I grew up using Windows for almost everything, and any other OS just feels "wrong" to me. I'm not really a fan of Apple, Their products are nice, but overpriced and limited for what they are. I dislike not being able to play games on my computer, so I use windows for gaming and Unbuntu for everything else. iOS5 is a nice update for apple's products, but with the slight exception of Siri, it brings nothing new to the mobile operating system market. This in and of itself is not a bad thing, as it's good for ideas to be shared, but I dislike apple's willingness to take but not share in return. It leaves a rotten taste in my mouth. Alos, for android users reading, have you guys tried out Iris? It's an app that was created by reverse engineering Siri in eight hours. It's still in beta right now, but you can grab it from the market. It's pretty great. There are still a few kinks (thus being a beta) but it can do pretty much everything Siri can.

I'm an Apple hater, for a variety of reasons and partly just because. I'm softening up though. RIP Steve Jobs. ;-( I do a lot of web development, where everyone uses Macs, so that's a large portion of me liking Apple more. I would like a Macbook Pro, but man, I don't have that kind of money.Also, I wish they let you develop for the iPhone in languages other than C, C++, and Objective-C. Web applications balance things out a little bit though.

Illegally downloaded or not, all you have to do to import music to iTunes is drag the file into its window and kablam, easy as pie. Do you really think that these millions of people with iPods don't have any illegally downloaded music? Fire & Ice

I'm not a huge fan of Apple products but I do have an iPod Touch that works beautifully. Jailbroken, perhaps, but still a wonderful little device. If their products were less controlling I wouldn't have such a negative view of their vanilla offerings. I am definitely not a Mac/Macbook person but if people like flushing money down the toilet, I'm not going to complain. I was considering buying a Macbook for college, but the recent fiasco with Lion being complete garbage and Apple blaming the consumers for coding problems was a big turn-off. Not to mention the hard drive problems their computers have had as of late.

same here dude, it's not really a big deal getting it into iTunes. i still prefer the Zune software because i have a Zune but iTunes is decent enough on Windows. i only use iTunes for last.fm scrobbling really.

iTunes makes it a hassle to put the music on an iPod/etc. device, if I remember correctly. Whether they changed that, I don't know. Not everyone cares about organization, like people who prefer a pigsty because they can find things in it, and so on. My iPod is a huge mess, but I can always find what I'm looking for. WMG has ridiculous standards on quite a few occasions, anyone who's used that one video-sharing site would realize this after about 5 minutes, even if nothing they looked up had music in it. And if poor sales make you quit being a musician, you weren't much a musician from the start, were you? There's something to think about. Edited October 31, 2011 by Deep-Freeze

my music library is extremely organized. everything has got proper tags, correct genre, name, the whole nine yards. it's not tough to keep it like that. devoting a little time to housekeeping has a huge payoff i support artists by purchasing merch and going to shows. i do occasionally buy cds too, but for the most part shows and clothes are how i support them. buying a cd from a store gives them so little money anyway. buying a cd at a show gives them a much higher profit. plus sometimes you can get it signed which is awesome. besides, as a poor teenager i can't really afford to get as many cds as i'd like. i think bands would prefer kids hear their music illegally instead of not hearing it at all. i plan on getting a Stray From The Path shirt soon plus i am going to see them play in December too. that probably wouldn't have happened if i didn't get an illegal copy of their latest album this isn't a topic for arguing over the morals of illegal downloading though, let's get back on topic i'm debating between getting a windows phone 7 or an iPhone 4s i'm personally leaning towards the iPhone but i majorly prefer the ui of the Windows Phone's music player (Zune fanboy here) thoughts?

The technologically illiterate can use an iphone without too much issue. Android phones work well on stock, but they shine when you root them and customize them to your specific wants and needs. It's a little work to get it there, but once you do, you'll wonder why people even bother selling other phones.

i guess i'll get an iphone and keep my zune as a music player. best of both worlds! plus then i won't have to get a more expensive iphone just to have space for my music and then i could finally use spotify for something

I agree with this, advanced users that tinker with their technology should definitely be using Android. People who just want it to work out of the box should stick with Apple. Windows fits somewhere in between but it clearly hasn't found its spot in the market yet. You can tinker with Apple's stuff too, but Android is incredibly flexible by comparison.
