They started out as a blues band (This Was), slowly drifted towards Aqualung, hung around prog rock for a couple more albums, and then started drifting pretty much wherever they felt like going, musically. The only album I can't fully recommend is Under Wraps, because while it's got some nice songs, they also decided to use a drum machine and synths pretty heavily, and the result isn't as good as the rest of their stuff.
