HeavyMetalSunshineSister
Okay, so, apparently we're shooting my ship down now? Also, as far as EMPs go, I'm going with the attitude Basilisk and I adopted for Odysseys - military hardware, especially droids and vehicles, are properly shielded from the electronics-killing effects, mainly because, well, that's pretty much how it is in real life, with modern anti-EMP technology. Alex Humva
What of that moment in Episode V, where an Imperial Star Destroyer gets stopped in its tracks by the Hoth ion cannon? ...Then again that cannon was the size of a large conference building and powered by generators of similar size, so I digress. HeavyMetalSunshineSister
Yeah, yeah, you're trying. And we all know what the kriffin' Jedi say about trying. Speaking of which, how many more "I am flying upwards" posts do I need to make before I can break atmo and say hi to that Arquitens? And how slow is a Gozanti, anyway? All I've got is 'slow but powerful', but, unlike some other ships, there's no max in-atmo speed for it, no indications of actual speed anywhere except for the hyperdrive... I mean, it's obviously capable of achieving escape velocity, which means it can't be that slow. Escape velocity is seven miles per second - obviously it takes some acceleration time from leaving the undercity to get going that fast, but, well, it takes about two and a half minutes for a modern space shuttle (well, okay, sorry, not quite so modern anymore) to get to 100 km. Madara: Mangekyou Master
Fighter grade ion cannons aren't nearly enough to EMP a ship. They might temporarily short out a blaster cannon or a sensor package, but Star Wars tech level allows such damage to recover pretty quickly. Ion cannons short out systems for a couple minutes at most.Heck, taking out standard droids with an EMP-only bomb required the creation of the electro-proton bomb, which was so strong that it upset Malastare's ecosystem enough to wake up a creature that had essentially been in stasis for centuries.@YmperTo satisfy regulations that these ships could not be used by pirates, the ship had slow sublight speed making it useless for raids.Mehbe? Blargh. I just didn't want to interfere with any of you and Basilisk's plans for the escape. I leave when the ship breaks/nears atmo to your capable hands. :3 Edited June 13, 2013 by Madara: Mangekyou Master Quote STAR WARS GALAXY AT WAR ... we have cookies
HeavyMetalSunshineSister
Well, Basilisk wants to jump in the escape pods and take up residence in the undercity, likely because it isn't his ship we'd be blowing up. I want to break atmo, take my chances with the Arquitens, get the heck away from Coruscant, and get my sublight engines upgraded so that they can achieve something at least slightly faster than what NASA's been working with. Madara: Mangekyou Master
Oooh, I see. Speaking as an unaffiliated third party, since it's his ship, shouldn't Tuorri have the final say on the matter? I don't think any ship owner would pick self-desctruct as his first choice. At the very least, they have two fighters that can keep the Jedi off their tail for a bit. HeavyMetalSunshineSister
Taking that sort of action now. Intending to run past the Arquitens, keeping up a stream of fire on whatever bugs me while I try to get far enough out to switch to the hyperdrive. Fingers crossed that the armour holds long enough for the bounty on my head to exceed what I'm getting paid. EDIT: Also, it may be best for the action involving the Coruscant chase to be put on hold until Basilisk's return. Now that we've got starfighters and the Gozanti on the criminal side, there is a real risk of one element or another of that chase pulling the action along while the other part gets ignored, and that would be a really inconvenient way to lose the backup that got called in. Veeks
Hello, all. I'd like to join. Here's my character. Sorry if this is supposed to go somewhere else. Name: Lendo DralSpecies: Human Gender: MaleAge: 26Faction: None currentlySympathies: The Republic. He supports their efforts and wants them to succeed, even if their duties make his job more difficult. Rank: N/A Occupation: Smuggler and Bounty HunterSkills: Crack shot with most blasters, though he is more comfortable with pistols than rifles. Very well versed in starship functions and repairs. He can also hold his own with a vibro sword, and is a skilled hacker.Force Abilities: NoneEquipment or Weapons: A set of durasteel battle armor. Two modified DL-44 heavy blaster pistols. Grappling hook integrated into right gauntlet, one Echani vibro blade with, a pair of goggles with an integrated targeting system for accuracy, and a miniature blaster implanted in his left gauntlet, that fires once per charge; used as a last resort. Also has an R4 astromech droid, used for ship maintenance and turret operation if needed. Appearance: Lendo wears a wide brimmed hat (Similar to the one Cad Bane wears), with his special targeting goggles strapped around, resting just above the brim. He wears a long, tattered leather coat over his durasteel battle armor. He has dark brown skin, steel grey eyes, 5 o'clock shadow and an X shaped scar on his left cheek.Personality: Lendo Dral is very good at his job. While he may despise the Republic authority because they make his job difficult, he respects the soldiers and what they stand for, and has nothing but contempt for the Mandalorians. He's a cunning fighter who'll do just about anything if the money's right. Home Planet: Coruscant History: Lendo was born on Coruscant to two Republic soldier parents. They were killed on duty when he was very young, killed in a Mandalorian Guerrilla strike. forcing him to live in an orphanag. Even as a child, he was hot headed and somewhat arrogant. When he came of age, he attempted to join the Republic ranks, but his hot temper proved to be his demise, and was discharged at boot camp after getting into a fight with one of his comrades. Afterwords, he found work as a ship mechanic in one of the more shady parts of Coruscant. Many smuggler and bounty hunter ships would come in for repairs. One of which was a notorious local gang of raiders, whose leader Lendo got along well with. The leader, Sal Contro, offered Lendo a position on his crew, and seeing his mechanic life as more of a dead end than a career, Lendo jumped at the opportunity. Lendo served the pirate crew for three years, until one fateful heist. Unbeknownst to Lendo, Sal intended to betray Lendo and leave him on a republic ship they were going to raid, so the troops would be busy arresting Lendo, giving his gang a chance to escape/ After they got the supplies, Sal attacked Lendo, scarring his face and left him to be picked up by the Republic soldiers. Unfortunately for Sal, he taught Lendo far more than he should have. Lendo managed to stave off the oncoming forces and steal a ship, heading back home to Coruscant. He returned to the ship mechanic he worked for, and with the money he'd earned in his time spent with Sal, bought a cheap ship, and attempted to make it out on his own as a bounty hunter and smuggler. Lendo spent the next five years making a name for himself as a bounty hunter, remaining a freelancer to have a wider range of options. The war meant enemies, and enemies meant contracts, and contracts meant money. He lives on his ship and is currently docked in Nar Shaddaa.Ship Name: The NemesisModel: YT 1250Function: Light FreighterWeapons: Two standard double laser cannon gun turrets, requires an operator for use.Modifications: Fitted with many hidden storage spaces for smuggling operations, and a stealth generator that masks its heat emissions. It won't show up on a radar, but if someone looks out a window it'll be seen clear as day. This function can only work for a short time. Its shields are moderate at best, but it has extra armor plating, making it more durable than most light freighters. Background: Formerly the ship of mechanic Dax Ulton from his old adventuring days, the owner of a starship repair garage in the slums of Coruscant. After hearing that his old employee and unofficial apprentice had run into trouble in his smuggling career, he gladly sold his ship to him. HeavyMetalSunshineSister
The E-11 didn't exist until the time of the Empire, nor did the YT-2000. Cortosis is bloody expensive, so even if that were the only issue, I'd be holding off on approval until I get Madara's judgment on the matter. "standard gun turrets" tells us nothing about what sort of weapons they actually are. I'm somewhat surprised that his sympathies rest exclusively with the Republic's military. How does he feel about those who fight for the CIS? Apart from a dislike for the laws of the Republic, what are his political views? --- Now, on to matters pertaining to the "episode of Mission Impossible gone horribly, horribly wrong"... I've used two proton torpedoes so far - one smacked a tower, and the other was part of that opening salvo against the Lance. Not sure how many torpedoes a Gozanti generally carries. Madara: Mangekyou Master
@Veeks - Glad to see you got rid of the cortosis. Cortosis is absurdly expensive, and most of it is kept firmly in the custody of the Republic and the Jedi. Since you've added info on the turrets, that's also helpful. Does he have any gunner in his crew (Tuorri uses droids)? @Ymper - Let's say six proton torpedoes in total (perhaps an epic-looking revolving like chamber). :3 Quote STAR WARS GALAXY AT WAR ... we have cookies
