  1. Something like the build-able areas/machines LEGO did in the Hordika/Piraka/Mahri eras? I think that would be cool, yeah. They might sell well, too. (I'm not sure how well the other ones sold in comparison to the constraction figures, though.) But I doubt it would've "saved" G2, and I'm certain it won't "save" it now. LEGO has officially said something, I highly doubt they'd change their minds after that. Announcing the end of a fairly major/famous line isn't something they would do lightly.
  2. Super bummed about this. I was excited to see what they would do with the story, hopeful that they had something awesome planned. But hey, the sets were awesome. Props to them for the set design.
  3. Quality is subjective. Basically everyone else in this community DOES love G2. It is. You're not. I more or less agreed with most of your points, except for these three. 1: I wouldn't say "basically everyone" on here likes G2. Sets-wise, maybe. But I think the point was story, here, and from what I've seen it's pretty much a 50/50 split between people who like the current story and people who don't. 2 and 3: You say the story is easily accessible, but then say that you need to read the books. See, this is one reason I wish they brought back the comics. In G1, you never had to buy any of the books to get the full story. (The only think like that was MoL.) The comics gave all of the base story, the books just added to it. Sure, the animations do that to some degree, but that's just giving the skeletal version of the story. From what the rest of your post said, it sounded like you really need to read the books to understand the reasoning for most anything that happens in the story right now.
  4. Have you seen the movie yet? I'm not usually a fan of watching movies based on books, but I highly recommend doing so for that book. I think the movie adds a bit of "reality" that the book alone couldn't provide as well, and you get a voice attached to Alex's narration - a very fitting voice.
  5. Haven't read as much recently, but I finished The Dunwich Horror and am still working on So Long and Thanks for All the Fish.
  6. I don't know how the sales for G2 have been, but I have a feeling it will depend almost solely upon that. Personally, I hope it continues, even if just for the sets. I really hope the story improves before long, but if not, the sets are still really awesome and I'll still look forward to getting them.
  7. Cool idea, but I don't think there are near enough Rahi to pull it off. There were probably less than fifty Rahi in G1, which is nothing compared to 700+ (or 151 in Pokemon GO) Pokemon.
  8. On a semi-related note, I find it funny when people ask Greg about their novel of a theory and he essentially says "Yea, okay I guess that's canon" Yeah, haha. Greg is great at just writing a story without any plan, other than sometimes "this character needs to be in it and this needs to happen at the end". He's not quite as good at... planning. I think he's "confirmed" some contradictory lore at one point or another actually, lol. (Can't really blame him, though, since the world and lore is massive.)
  9. Story, absolutely. Love the story, love the world. Sets (despite having ~130 of them) were almost always a secondary thing to me. And yeah, I think it was pretty awesome that Greg ended up writing most of the serials merely for the fun of writing them. They weren't to sell sets (heck, a lot of the characters in the serials were never even made as sets), they were just written to expand the world and lore. That shows the passion that he and others had for the brand.
  10. In answer to the question, some rahi were meant as beasts of burden to assist the Matoran and other races in their tasks, while some of the more vicious ones were created to keep Matoran and other beings away from hazardous parts of the GSR's system, such as the propulsion systems in the feet and lower legs. Ah, okay, that makes sense. That's kinda what I thought originally, but you don't just throw in a bunch of extra screws when you're building a machine. Each component in a system should have some purpose.
  11. Just a quick question here that I hadn't really thought of before. It might've been answered in canon somewhere, but I don't remember; what is the purpose of Rahi in/on the GSR? Most "highly sentient" beings (Matoran, Toa, etc.) serve various purposes, but I can't really think of any for Rahi, especially since some Rahi endangered some of the "highly sentient" beings. Any thoughts?
  12. I agree with Peridot. They blink in movies and books and games and stuff, but I think canonically there isn't any reason that they would.
  13. For the individual pieces, at least, you might just want to look on Bricklink (perhaps using Peeron as a piece ID reference). You'd probably be able to find most - if not all - of them available from one seller, and get them for a decent price. I don't know that it will be that much simpler listing them out here, especially if you're going to be writing down the piece IDs anyway.
  14. I actually could see that happening. I could see it becoming something like Adventurers or Agents or recurring themes like that that come back every few years. (Which I wouldn't really be happy about.) Personally, though, I wouldn't be rallying for it.
  15. I might actually say the Toa collectively. Sure, some of the minor characters might be worse, technically, but the Toa are the main characters. They're supposed to be so relatively fleshed out and, to some degree, interesting. Since they aren't that, I'd say they're the worst. (If I had to pick a specific Toa, it would be Pohatu.)
  16. Four big boxes of Bionicle at a local thrift store for $20. I'd estimate there were about 25-30 sets in that lot.
  17. Better (and more) music, better (and more) games, and better (and more) atmosphere. I think those three things would cinch it for me.
  18. Bohrok Va would probably be it for me. Nidhiki is also that case, I guess, I really wanted to get it at the time but still haven't gotten a chance yet.
  19. -snip--snip-The idea that good doesn't always triumph over evil is one thing. The heroes of Bionicle could and DID have losses, setbacks, and sacrifices. But I think implying that good doesn't ULTIMATELY triumph over evil is a terrible lesson for children. Children should not be raised on pure nihilism, unless you want to raise a generation of youngsters that has no motivation to even try and make the world a better place. Beyond that, Teridax's implausible chessmastery was a major flaw in Bionicle's story, and allowing a villain to ultimately win because he's an oh-so-perfect planner who was impossible to defeat in the first place isn't just a bad lesson; it's terrible writing. I didn't say that the characters just gave up after Makuta defeated Mata Nui. I just said that he did. I find it very unlikely that everyone, Toa, Matoran, Turaga, and whatever else, would just give up after Makuta defeated Mata Nui. I'm just saying that's where I'd end it. It would basically be a shocking cliffhanger that would never be resolved, spawning infinite fan theories about what happened, what would happen afterwards, and so on. Emphasis on where I would end it. Again, not saying that's how LEGO should've done it. (I was also imagining the scene being something like, Makuta's been hit by the falling rock, Mata Nui turns around to face everyone assuming Makuta is dead, Makuta stands back up and throws the rock at Mata Nui, crushing him completely. So not really some "grand scheme" sort of defeat.)
  20. ...then it'd fly in the face of every single moral lesson the Bionicle story ever promoted, and be a betrayal of every child who ever rooted for the heroes. Makuta's victory may have been an interesting twist ending to the 2008 storyline (and a decent way to keep the story going without further delaying Mata Nui's awakening), but it would be a terrible way to end the story as a whole. Oh, I'm not saying that that's how they should have finished the story at all. (Although kids should learn before too long that "good" doesn't always triumph over "evil".) I'm just saying that's how I'd write it. Most of my stories don't end on particularly happy notes, you might imagine.
  21. Makuta wins. Game over. To be honest, that's probably pretty close to the truth for me. Oh trust me, I'd lead it up like it looked as though Mata Nui and all would win, perhaps even make it look like he had, but Makuta would still win in the end. I'd just love to leave the fans going "WHAT???" at the end and never give any more information on what went on after that. I mean, who didn't know that good would triumph over evil in the end, right? It was pretty obvious Makuta was going to die. But if Makuta won instead...
  22. I think I pretty much imagine them in set form. Masks aren't flexible, their bodies aren't... "squishy"? Like humans, I mean. I tend to imagine the tendon-y things that are sometimes found on limb or armor pieces to be like tough, exposed human tendons (as gross as that sounds).
  23. Sounds like a good move to me. Might "ease the burden" from individual staff members a bit.
  24. There's no citation, and in the same sentence they write LEGO without capitalization. So I wouldn't put much weight into that statement. I was absolutely thrilled when I saw it, personally. We didn't know about G2 back then, so it was the most we had seen of Bionicle in a while.
