In the addition, there have been several answers that say that some story elements are included in G1 because the sets release required it. The Rahkshi of Heat Vision in 2010, for example. The two statements are not contradictory. "Do the Rahaga have helicopter blades?" "What powers do these Rahkshi have?" These are detail things that usually come after the set. But, "What is the setting?" "Who are the heroes?" "What are the villains?" "What is the quest/conflict?", these general ideas have to come before the sets. It's not as solid as "we make the story first, then sets to fit the story." There's a lot of back-and-forth, and both are probably continually changing throughout the process. What Greg meant by "sets come first" in that quote is, if something in the story contradicts a set, the set prevails. It's a different meaning of "comes first".

There are several different stages of development and concept art that designs go through. "Kulta Kal" and the component Skulls probably came from a different stage of concepts than the other concepts. It's even got designs rather close to the final designs of Skull Basher and Skull Scorpio. Look, "Kulta Kal" even has three heads, a feature advertised in the Skull Villain combiner that it ultimately didn't have. I can't explain the name. Maybe Kulta wasn't properly assigned at the time and they were just sticking it to things, maybe it was meant to be a form of Skull Grinder, I don't know. But that's pretty obviously just an early concept for the second Skull Villain combiner.

I mean, this seems fairly par for the course for toy companies. You gotta make an attractive toy. That said, personality does come into appearance of a toy sometimes. I'm sure there are others who could give better examples, but the 2015 Toa's designs all seem to definitely have been designed with that character in mind.

So! They recently described a specimen of a new large dromaeosaurid from a formation I unfortunately cannot name on BZPower. It was a contemporary of Tyrannosaurus rex, and it notably preserves quill knobs on the arm bone, giving us direct evidence of feathers. As a very close relative of Utahraptor, and of comparable size, it's safe to conclusively say anyone claiming Utahraptor was too big to be feathered is a moron. Anyway, since I occasionally dream of being a palaeoartist, here's my reconstruction of it, based on the skeletal in the paper and with colors/patterns based on the Northern Potoo. (Highly simplified, obviously.)

OOC: okay so i have a couple Heroes I might submit profiles for but first I have a question: is romance a thing in this HF universe? I know it was canon in the canon universe, and I think some allusions have been made in this RPG, but I just want to make sure.

You know the deal. This scientist thought he knew what he was doing when he tinkered with genetics. He thought wrong. Everyone knows genetics is a twisted unsolvable puzzle that man was never meant to touch, and now for his hubris, he's been turned into a fly monster for the rest of his life. I don't know. I'm tired and had to take pictures of this with my phone. What do you want from me?

He moves to swat Thumper away with one arm as he fights to stand up again, his leg damaged, but still usable. Still, through his pain, he grits his teeth in a slightly-unhinged grin. "Well, now it's a fair fight."
