Hapori Tohu
The upcoming LEGO Bionicle chapter book Island of Lost Masks, which recently got a free six-page preview, really immerses you in the culture of the island of Okoto with its decorative page headers. BZPower user Votuko discovered that those headers are more than just decoration: the repeating 26-symbol sequence is actually an alphabet! Check out his topic "Okoto Alphabet Revealed?" to see it spelled out in full detail. Hopefully the LEGO Group will begin using this alphabet to spell out messages in a lot of Bionicle media, just like the classic Matoran alphabet from 2001! Toa Smoke Monster
well, I never did learn the Matoran alphabet from Gen 1. Maybe I can make up for it by learning this one. Aanchir
This alphabet definitely seems like learning to write it will be harder than learning to read it (whereas Matoran was about as easy to read as it was to write) However, back in middle school and high school I remember a lot of people writing in square boxy letters like this (albeit a lot less abstract). So maybe it could catch on more easily than I give it credit for. Also, compared to Matoran, it seems like it'd be really practical to carve with a chisel or similar tool, which makes it somewhat believable in-universe. I never figured how a language like Matoran that is mostly made up of perfect circles would be efficient for carving out a message. 2 Quote Latest MOC: PAIGE (Prototype Artificial Intelligence, Gynoid Expression)
Lenny7092
It's very cool that the G2 symbols that we kept seeing can be learned as an alphabet. I had hard time learning the G1 alphabets, but hopefully, I could learn this one just in case any Bionicle G2 promotion. Quote I like Lego, Bionicle, and Hero Factory! Nidhiki of the Shadows
I'm just excited that we're getting more named characters AND an alphabet. -NotS
Chronicler06
Now this is very interesting. I've already practically memorized the Matoran alphabet (though it did take me a few years), so I'm looking forward to seeing what the G2 version will be like. However, as some people have mentioned in that other topic, it seems rather probable that a few letters have gotten mixed up, so the list may not exactly be in alphabetical order. Therefore, I shall wait until an official guide comes out that shows with absolute certainty which letter each symbol represents. (After all, I'd hate to be practicing this new code, only to discover that I've been getting a few letters mixed up all along. ) Quote Formerly known as Takanuva's Symbol, I rejoined BZPower on October 10, 2012. These days, I am perhaps best known for my obsession with all Lego video games.
