LEGO Bionicle Magazine Coming to Europe in June

Recommended Posts

German LEGO fans who have been receiving the monthly LEGO Nexo Knights magazine from Blue Ocean may have noticed an ad in the latest issue for a new magazine launching June 1st, this time focusing on the LEGO Bionicle theme! Eurobricks user Evildeadman shared a picture of the ad in question. As with the other magazines, each issue will include a small LEGO gift, starting with a Skull Scorpio mini-model. Most of these magazines have also been published elsewhere in Europe, including an English edition in Great Britain, so with luck the same will apply for this new magazine! Follow the link above to check out the ad!

That's pretty cool for the Bionicle fans from Europe. I wish that this would be released in the USA too though. But maybe they'll make their way to the states sometime in the future.

Personally, I doubt these will ever be released in the Americas. None of the others have (some of which, like the Ninjago and Friends magazines, have been going for several years and are related to far more successful themes). In general, America seems to have less of a "newsstand culture", if that makes sense—we get far fewer niche magazines like this and promotions where Lego sets are given away with magazines or daily newspapers are practically unheard of.

If anything, if any of the comics in these magazines do turn out to be original stories, then it's possible that they might be collected in graphic novel format later like what seems to have been done with the aforementioned magazines. Based on the comic in the preview image, however, it seems to have gone the other way around with this one, serializing the first existing graphic novel rather than starting a new serialized story.

I think this pretty much means that BIONICLE is doing really well in Europe, but about average-to-meh in America.

Even though it probably won't be available where I live, I'm super pumped for this magazine! :D I can't wait to see the mini-Skull Scorpio, it'll probably be adorable yet spooky. :3

As Lyichir said, I don't think this has anything to do with Bionicle being more popular in Europe than the US, since there are also Ninjago & Friends magazines in Europe which have never come to the US either.

Very cool. Hopefully someone posts scans, even if none of the material is new. The mini Skull Scorpio looks wonky, but its a freebie so take what you can get I suppose.

As for the mag itself, I've always wanted a Bionicle mag. Haha, I know this is a one-time Europe-only deal but it seems like a cool idea, similar to the 2015 pamphlet promoting Bionicle's return. I also find it funny how they seem to be promoting the 2015 sets over the current iterations. Cool about the comic too.

Why do you get the impression the magazine will be a one-time thing? While it likely will be constrained to Europe, the Ninjago, Nexo Knights, Friends, and Elves magazines have all been ongoing publications, so it would not surprise me if this Bionicle magazine did the same.

Yep. How often new issues will come out is still a mystery (so far the Elves magazine has been semiannual while the Ninjago, Legends of Chima, Friends, Nexo Knights, and Star Wars magazines have been monthly), but I don't think it's likely to be just a one time thing.

The pamphlets/inserts released with LEGO Club Magazine are a different matter, since they're merely a bonus for LEGO Club Magazine subscribers. Europe's theme-specific LEGO magazines are available for purchase on their own either by subscription or from newsstands.
