Poster Tease

As you know by now, I have my own room at school, and plenty of wallspace for my own posters.   I just spent a few hours (off and on, not all at once) putting up my posters, and boy was it quite a task. But it was also well worth it.   I am not posting pictures just now, since my room is not quite yet complete for fantastical presentation, nor are the posters in the living room up yet, but for now I shall leave you with a teaser: (Lots and lots of sticky-putty was used, especially with the

So Excited

Seriously.   I moved in on Monday.   So this entry is late.   But still.   I have my own room for the first time since 3rd grade!   (Pictures will come once I get my posters up. But I have a LEGO table dedicated to building.)   Also, a "walk-through" closet to my own bathroom.   The four of us share a laundry machine and dryer, so that's good. And the kitchen is better than last year's because now we have a garbage disposal, dish washer, and plenty of pantry space so we do not need e

More Posters!

Just when you thought my apartment room would not have any more wallspace, the time has come to find some more.   I got this big 6-feet-tall, 4-feet-wide Despicable Me poster!   But better yet, my manager litterally threw five, yes, FIVE (5) Inception posters at me. (Three of the left, two of the right.)   Along with two from Up of the house floating with the balloons--it looks really nice. Finally, another regular Despicable Me poster for my sister.   With any luck I should be getting a Sc

Location, Location, Location

Falls Church, VA, my hometown? Newport News, VA, my school and thus now where I spend the majority of my year?   Where does my BrickBadge say I'm from?   (I had Falls Church on there from last year, and NN for this year, (not to mention a simple BZPower brick from BF06) but took them off when I got these.)   -CF

Minifigs And Stuff

In list form so you can comment in list form.   1) The generous Black Six, through the generous LEGO Company, let me have this for being at BrickFair and this for being a staff member at BrickFair. (That's a marbled green pattern there, not seen too well in the pic.)   2) I also made a Scott Pilgrim minifig immediately after seeing the movie, though it would be bad to not say I pretty much stole the idea from another staff member from BrickFair (but I will not say who so it will not spoil hi

You Named Your Cat Gideon?

I just got back from the theater after watching Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. I knew nothing about this until the trailer popped up online. When I got home from school I borrowed the first 5 graphic novels from my library and diligently awaited #6 to come out so I could buy it. (Which, btw, you can buy from me for cheap. PM me until Sunday night.) I can not say I was the biggest fan of the writing, but the story itself was fun. So I could not wait for the movie.   I did not have the bigges

An Arpy Addition

I have realized there are two sides to this member named "Arpy."   1) There is Arpy. The random and eccentric person you will find over in his blog. 2) There is Ean, who comes out when Arpy has had enough sleep. (So, Arpy, Thursday was your weirdest with an hour of sleep.) It's like A Strange Case of Dr. Ean and Mr. Arpy, or something.   Also, Nukaya and I have this for you, Arpy: An ancient møøse at the National Museum of Natural History. And if it's not, that is what we want it to be

Official Brickfair Entry

BrickFair was great! I met so many people! The likes of which include Arpy, Nukaya Cloud Fire, xccj, Primus, Nuju Metru, ToM Dracone, Dablackcat, and Waffles, among plenty of other people who I can not remember (sorry! these are the highlights).   Arriving at the con, everything looks neat, and the Dulles Expo Center is so BIG.   The Bionicle Mosaic Project went well. We set up Onua on Friday, got pieces Friday night to build another Kopaka square, and set him up on Saturday before the pub

Being Crabby

Did you send any crabs with your BrickFair box and might any of them be these: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Chocolat...ssing_crabs.jpg   Because I have them and I do not know who they belong to. And I need to mail out MOCs before I leave for school, so by the end of the week.   Also, I need David Cunnington to PM me about $5 you said would be in your box but I did not find, Matthew Nealing about not finding $10, and Michael H about that too. BE HONEST.   -CF

All Over

Maddison just left. Just like everyone else. Brickfair should be 24/7/365. You all are great. I love you all.   But, also, huge THANK YOU to Nukaya for showing me this Picasa program (who stole their logo from Aperture Science). Without it, I would have to be resizing every image to 800 pixels across by hand, one at a time. With this--click! click! and it's done!   Be expecting BrickFair pictures soon!   -CF Oh, I guess I better ship these MOCs out... Also, did anyone notice the mo

Who Did I Meet?

This weekend I met a few more members to add to my list of members I have met.   You can see this list in a sidebar.   If I have not added you yet to my list of members I met, and we met this weekend, please say so here and a link to your blog if applicable.   If I already added you, I will post your blog soon. Unless we met a while ago and I still have not added your blog. In that case let me know.   -CF

XĶĈĐ And Brickfair

XCCJ had this great idea of building some xkcd vignettes for BrickFair. He built two, and I built two.   As we are cleaning up BrickFair Sunday afternoon, Nukaya comes over to me and says that a few pieces of my xkcd vignettes are missing.   D:   So I walk over with her and there is xccj as well, and I look at my vignettes and there is nothing wrong with them. I look a little closer and there is a piece of paper sitting next to them.     (Then they were like j/k.)   What awesome recogni

Hi Guys!

This is Arpy sneaking onto CF's account to tell you all that he is a totally cool guy and to thank him for hosting me for Brickfair and driving us around and putting up with my navigation skills. This category here also applies to his life on account of something awesome that I'm sure he will want to tell you later. :3

Lego Store Event

Tons of people, plenty of fun (but what else would you expect when hanging out with BZPers?), and plenty of LEGO to buy.   I was able to score Skopio, normally a $90 item, for $33. Thirty. Three. Dollars $33!!!   Pirate tank was also 20% off, making it $32.   Add in the Deep Sea Striker for $10, a baseplate and a pick a brick cup, but luckily take out my VIP savings, and I spent over $80 at the LEGO Store today. Then add in the other spending I did at the actual convention, and that's a

Brickfair!

Typing this at BrickFair right now. I brought my laptop since I need it to plan out another mosaic piece before the public comes tomorrow.   So far it's been great! I've finally got to meet Arpy, Nukaya Cloud Fire, xccj, and a few other members (I'll update my sidebar soon.)   The giant Mindstorms chess board is here! (Actually, one of two.)   I'm wearing my Brickbadge with BrickFest 06 and BrickFair 09 badges along with this year's, with Sonic Screwdriver on the side and some Firefly char

Forsooth

How awesome would it be to bring this word back into our everyday slang? I say "Yeah really," "True," and "I know right?" often enough, that those phrases could be replaced with "forsooth!" easily.   I propose we make efforts to say this at BrickFair. "That MOC over there is really cool." "Forsooth." "Bionicle rocks!" "Forsooth!"   -CF

Stargate Patches

No, not like the SG-1 patch I have taped to my laptop, but Boy Scout Jamboree patches of Stargate ships!   These were apparently a pretty hot item at the Jamboree this year, and my family was lucky enough to trade one of our popular NCAC sets for the rightmost full set when we visited my brother, who is currently attending. Then I traded for Atlantis and bought Destiny, a patch only available to Eagle scouts and thus making only about 100 floating around the entire Jamboree of 45,000 scouts

Jamboree Visit

My brother is currently attending the 17th National Scout Jamboree, down at Fort A. P. Hill, Caroline County, VA, from Monday, July 26th to Wednesday, August 4th. I attended this event 5 years ago, but it usually takes place every 4 years. This year, however, coincided with the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouting coming to America, and was scheduled accordingly.   My family visited me when I went, and now we visited him this year. We went down Friday and met up with him, and then he broke off

Important Things

First, I need everyone who has sent me MOCs read this. http://www.bzpower.com/forum/index.php?aut...showentry=91605   Secondly, I will be away Friday and Saturday as I visit the 2010 National Boy Scout Jamboree at Fort A. P. Hill. This is an awesome event that happenes every 4 years (though the last one was in 2005, which I attended, but this is in 2010 to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouts being in America). My brother is down there, so my family is visiting him. (And with a

Moc Packages

Edit: Who's paranoid enough to have delivery confirmation or something? A package wasn't dropped off at my house and instead they left a "sorry we missed you" paper, because nobody was home, which I probably threw out because I did not know better, and now I have to go to the post office to get the package...without the paper. I already have more than the amount of boxes in my living room that I had last year of other people's MOCs for BrickFair. And some who sent last year are attending them

Saw Inception Again

Ellen Page   Just as good (and really, even better) than my first viewing.   » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «The first time I saw it, I was thinking that he was in the dream world and Mal kept coming back from the real world to try to bring him back, but now I think he is in the real world. However, there is some cool discussion going on in CoT about all of this. Like Cobb's kids being his totem, though that does not really make sense because are totems not something you al

Stranger Tides Excitement

So, super-excited for the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides teaser shown at Comic Con this past weekend. So excited.   » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «Zombies, mermaids, etc. Whoa.  Now, Captain Jack Harkness Sparrow says "Bloody Mary" three times. While not necessarily all at once, this notion does make me inclined to think that said ghostly figure might be a character, who of course is summoned by saying her name thrice in front of a mirror. Kind of a stretch
