The Haul List

Fairly small this year, mostly because my family pitched in for my new PC and desk a month ago...so it was an early gift. Otherwise:   Britney Spears' "Circus" (I don't care, it's dang catchy) Wedding Crashes DVD (hilarious movie)   I also bought myself Persona 4 for the PS2 and the Foo Fighters DLC pack for Rock Band (not The Colour and the Shape, but the 3-song pack). So this weekend before I go back to work will be a rockin' laugh riot.   Merry Christmas all!

Merry Christmas (also Happy Holidays)

Haven't been around much, but with some time off from work for the holidays I thought I'd stop in and wish everybody a great next few weeks, whatever the cause for celebration. If you're someplace where there's snow...stay warm and drive safe. If you're some place where it's warm, stay cool. And also drive safe.   I'll likely report back with a "Haul" list once the season has passed.

...but I'm Still Hungry

So I picked up Chrono Trigger for the DS just before Thanksgiving. Despite my long time love of gaming, I never actually played Chrono Trigger when it was first released for the Super Nintendo so many years ago. This is mostly because I didn't get into RPGs until Final Fantasy X for the Playstation 2. But getting back to Chrono, so far it's been a blast. The story and characters have been very interesting, and the battle system is a good mix of classic Magic/Tech use and Active Time (similar

My Official Karaoke Debut

So I found out a restaurant back where I used to live started up a Guitar Hero/Rock Band night once a week. Since I'm never one to turn down a chance to rock out, I drove over to check it out. It started out slow, playing a few songs on drums to get warmed up. But within a half hour more people had shown up and things got rolling.   It was pretty "thrown together" in the sense that there was no plan on how to get everybody in, but everybody who wanted to get a chance to play. The only rule

Omg Wii60!

So I've now downloaded the NXE. Played around a bit. Aside from the avatars...it's pretty much a wash for me.   Speaking of the Avatars: Aww, look at the little guy....trying to be all hip and stuff!

Another Year Older

It's that time of year again! Now at the ripe old age of 24, I'm still able to say I'm "early 20s" vs. next year when I'll be "late 20s" and "almost 30". Sorry for the short entry, but now is the time for CAKE!

Lies, Dang Lies, And Statistics

While this is in regards to today's election, this is not a political thread. I just happened to see this report when I booted up my email this evening.   Yes. Your eyes aren't decieving you. With 0% of the precincts reporting, MSN has declared Obama the winner in Vermont. This is why the Horse-Race mentality the media takes into every election season drives me crazy.   I mean...C'MON. Even Wikipedia demands better references than that.

Bandmates Wanted: Apply Within

Rock Band 2 drops on the 360 in about a week or so. One of the biggest new features is the ability to take the original Band World Tour online. So now I won't need to rock the Voxtar (Single player using guitar and mic at the same time) to get through it on my own.   But I need a few good men (or women) to help fill out the band. I'm not sure of the details, so I dunno if this can work with more than four...but one thing I know is that now band members will be able to switch between instrume

Just A Refresher

Just to clear up the airwaves a bit due to some recent confusion.   Hapori Tohu (not me)   Tohru (also not me....I've lost weight)   Tohru Honda (definately not me...despite April Fool's jokes suggesting otherwise)   Torhu Hybrid (me)   Though I do see that Honda and I share similiar fashion sense (color wise, not the whole...skirt...thing)

Take That, System!

So walked into Wal-Mart to grab some cleaning supplies, and I noticed that they were completely out of Mistika. But they had just put out what I'm guessing is the last few Phantoka they had in stock. Thankfully they had both Kopaka and Pohatu, and thankfully were still charging only $9.49/   I then stopped by Target and grabbed a spare Onua. So now I have my traditional Pa-Tahian Toa, and didn't have to surrender any current sets or pay anything extra for old ones.   I managed to beat the s

I Call Shenanigans

So I built my annual Pa-Tahi Toa (this gen would be the return of Khultak and Rangi), and I've run into a problem. I want to buy replacement Toa...but the Phantoka at most stores have had their prices increased to $12.99 to match the Mistika.   Seriously? That's so not cool LEGO. Wal-Mart still has them at the old $9.99, but they only have Pohatu and I also need a new Kopaka. Onua's not as much a problem, but for them to up the price on sets that have been out for months? I was in the Lego

Talk About Timing!

So go figure, I return to the blogs after a long hiatus...and what should happen but two days later I come across the full assortment of Mistika, Takanuva, and vehicles sitting on the shelves in Wal-Mart.   The Makuta Mistika look amazing. Excellent variety in design. But judging from the containers for the Toa...not so much there. Now, I've only purchased Onua Mistika at the moment. I would've bought more, but I'm a bit short on fun money this time of the month (rent and car payment come d

Ok, So I Fell Off The Earth There...

Yeah, it's been a LONG while.   I've been busy with a combination of Tuesday volleyball leagues and the beautiful summer weather. A buddy of mine also got married earlier this month. I was in the party, which meant I got to help out in the proceedings. There's pics in certain "books" if you catch my drift, not many of them.   Lots of movies. Here's a quick recap...   The Dark Knight: Awesome. Best movie I've seen this summer. Heath Ledger's portrayal of The Joker is incredible. Nolan h

Indiana Jones And The... Did They Seriously Just Go There?

I've seen two movies over the last 7 days. Iron Man and now Indiana Jones.   Go see Iron Man. If you like super hero movies, this one is for you. It's just as good as the first Spiderman. Robert Downey Jr. is amazing as Stark, and the mix of humor, drama and action is just right.   Indiana Jones on the other hand...oh man did they make some mistakes there. I'm not a diehard Jones fan, in fact I only recently had a chance to watch the movies during some marathons on various channels. But

Brief Tuesday Wrap-up

Looking back at the calendar, I haven't been updating or writing much lately. Things have been a bit hectic at work, with a release going out to customers this past weekend. I'm well into my next set of projects, and am getting caught up a bit, so I'm mentally exhausted as well as physically these days when I get home (working out is tough...but it's gotten a bit easier thanks to having some music to listen to rather than nothing).   Couple of updates though since I have a chance. One is tha

There's Treasure Everywhere!

A buddy of mine invited me to go "Geocaching" with him this weekend. The idea is that you can go online and download coordinates of various caches to a GPS. Then you can drive to some place that's public property (such as a park) and start searching for it. It's government sponsored, and is incredibly popular apparently.   Of the 8 he had loaded up for the day, we were able to find 5 (3 of which I spotted thank you very much!). When you find them, you open them up and look at the various tri

Going Shopping. Maybe.

I've been thinking of getting an iPod or some MP3 player so I can have some music to listen to while working out. Any suggestions or tips I should keep in mind when looking for something?

Full Throttle

I went to a Twins game, and on the way out they were handing out free cans of Full Throttle. It's an energy drink I guess. So tonight, having run short on pop I grabbed it out of the fridge.   I'm drinking it right now, and I can tell from the taste that it's pure sugar plus some caffine. Mostly because I'm vibrating in my chair at the moment. Excuse me for a second, I'm about to phase through my keyboard...     ...     Okay, it was probably a bad idea to drink one of these at this hour.

It's A Cat-tastrophe

Here it is, the 3rd day of April and majhost.com continues to suffer some sort of mysteriously non-foolish shutdown. How am I supposed to share pictures of my new cat army with the masses?   I tells ya, there's nothing that ruins a good April Foolin' like your entire collection of images going down for the week. I oughta go over to Maj and give them a piece of my-   Ooooh is that a ball of yarn!   *runs off*

The Scratchin' Post Is Serious Business

T-Hybrid is currently trying to wrangle 7 digitally enhanced cats for litterbox training. While he fights for his life, he has asked his newest guest writer to fill in.   This is Apollomon: checking in for my first shift here at the newly renamed Scratchin' Post. Due to some unfortunate majhost.com errors, the place currently has more red x's than actual images, but I assure you the new look is incredible! T's gone all out hiring some new help in the form of the Vice Katz, but I think he und

I Can Has Entriez?

I don't know what VGM was so worried about. Yeah all my pals from college are mostly still an hour away on campus. But that doesn't mean I don't know how to have a good time. And yeah, I may have been eyeing the litterboxes...but what's wrong with having one or two cats?   Or eight?   And I haven't given them names, that'd just be crazy. I did however make sure to assign each of them a formal Digimon partner and functioning Digivice. After all, if you're going to have an army of cats you'

Disturbing Behavior

T-Hybrid hasn't been himself lately. His usual guest writer has taken it upon himself to submit today's entry. I wasn't worried when T moved out of the Haven. He promised the place would still be bouncin' and that I'd always have work. But he's coming up on his one year anny at work and they've figured out that he's gotten a heckuva lot better at what he does. So there's more work, more pressure, and less time overall. I think he's just drained at the moment. I overheard him tellin th

It's Happening Again

I'm watching Fox Sports North, in hopes of catching a glimpse of some Wild hockey before I go to bed. The Wolves game hadn't finished yet, just unde a minute to go.   That minute took four. I kid you not. Furthermore, there was 0.0 on the game clock and the ref called a timeout because nobody touched the ball to officially end the game. And they took a commerical break. They took a commercial break with 0.0 left on the clock! I just died a little inside, as I think I've discovered the 2nd

Thoughts From The Dentist's Chair

Had a dental appointment today. While I was sitting there, I had a few random thoughts. Most of the time I carry on a random conversation with the hygenist as they clean my teeth, floss, and other assorted things. But usually I just stare straight up at the ceiling. I've always wondered what would happen if instead of picking a spot up on top...I just stare straight back at them. You know, right in the eyes. The whole time. I wonder how long it would take before they snapped? While I was
