Happy New Year

Happy New Year, y'all! I hope you're all enjoying this day, however you choose to spend it .   As for me, I'm probably going to be spending it taking down Christmas decorations and playing Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, which I got in the mail yesterday.   -TNTOS-

Good Stories

As a writer, I believe it is very important to read as much as you can. And not just in your preferred genre, either. Try to read in a variety of different genres, if possible, because good writing is good writing no matter what it is garbed in.   As a matter of fact, read nonfiction books, too. Histories, philosophical/theological books, scientific books, personal memoirs, 'how to' books, etc, etc. Nonfiction not only works as research, but also aids writers in expanding their horizon and deepe

Christmas Loot

I was off BZP and the Internet/computer in general all day yesterday. It's good to take a break from computers and computer-related things for a day or two every now and then. At least it's good for me, anyway.   But I doubt any of you care about that, so instead I'll talk about what I'm sure everyone is dying to know: What I got for Christmas!   Let's list them in the order I unwrapped them:   -The Complete Sherlock Holmes. This is a two volume boxet containing all four novels and fifty-six sho

LOST (again)

So I just finished watching LOST last night. It was an awesome (if horribly confusing at times) show. Definitely one of my favorite TV shows I've ever seen.   As for favorite characters, there are too many of them for me to list them all. I will say that I enjoyed Benjamin Linus, John Locke, Desmond Hume, and Sawyer more than the other characters, but again almost all of them were well-developed and had interesting backstories and personalities.   I might just watch it again, but not any time so

New short story

Yesterday I posted the Toa Chimoy short story I have mentioned before. Read it here.   Enjoy .   (Yes, I am aware that this blog entry is about a day late, but that's because I was tired by the time I was done posting it, so I didn't feel like making a blog entry about it the same day I posted it.)   -TNTOS-

Has the world ended yet?

Hmm, the world still appears to be around. Then again, the day isn't over yet, so there's still plenty of time for the world to end today.   -TNTOS-

The Hobbit

Last night I saw The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. It was an okay movie, but honestly I wouldn't even think of nominating it for any "Movie of the Year" awards. I wouldn't even put it in my personal "Top Five Favorite Movies I've Seen This Year" list. Maybe I'd like it better if I'd read the book first, since I haven't actually read it yet.   -TNTOS-

Tell Me Why I Should Join the Ambage

For a long while now I've been considering joining the Ambage. When the Ambage first started up a while ago, I was skeptical that it would last, for all of the other BZP writers' groups/clubs I'd seen in my time always died of inactivity (not to mention they seemed more focused on giving out "rewards" rather than actually encouraging writers to improve their craft). I fully expected the Amabage to die within a month or so; after all, that's what happened to all of the other BZP writers' groups/c

Um

Part of me wants to get involved in the recent drama that has engulfed the blogs, but the other part of me just wants to sit back and watch the world blogs burn. Or read a book. Whichever works.   -TNTOS-

Finished! Woot!

Today I finished writing the fourth draft of my upcoming epic, Dawn of the New Century. It's a little over 93,000 words, making it the longest draft yet. It is also probably the best draft, although I am going to revise it at least three times before posting it to make it even better.   Taking into account the amount of rivison it's going to need, expect to see Dawn sometime in early 2013 at the earliest. I hope it will be my best epic yet or at the very least on par with my previous epics in te

Skye Can't Connect - Help!

Hi, everybody. Recently (as in, starting last month) I haven't been able to get onto my Skype account. Every time I put in my username and password, it tries loading and then says "Skype can't connect" above the username and password boxes, thus preventing me from connecting to my account.   Yes, I've upgraded it, but it still doesn't work. So, fellow Skype users, have any of you ever run into this kind of problem before? If so, how did you resolve it?   I really need an answer because I still n

About Me Content Block Added

I just added an "About Me" content block to my blog. It's what all the other cool kids are doing, right?   It's got all the important stuff; religion, ethnicity, name (BZP and real), country of residence, etc. You know, the stuff people usually judge you on .   In all seriouness, I added it because I like to know the writer of blogs that I read so I can understand where they're coming from. Having an "About Me" content block should hopefully give other people an idea of who I am and why I blog

BIONICLE: The Legend Imploded - Preview #7

This is the final preview for my upcoming comedy, BIONICLE: The Legend Imploded, which is coming out tomorow, which is going to be awesome.   So here's the preview, from Chapter 6:     Just before Mata Nui could jump, however, a voice said, "I wouldn't do that if I were you, Mata Nui."   Mata Nui looked around until he spotted a familiar black-armored being standing on the other side of the pit. It was Teridax, who was leaning against the wall on the far side quite casually.   "Teridax," Mata Nu

BIONICLE: The Legend Imploded - Preview #6

Here's the sixth preview for my upcoming comedy, BIONICLE: The Legend Imploded, which is coming out in the Comedies forum on Saturday, December 1st. This preview is from Chapter 6: It was then that Mata Nui heard a hissing noise; a lot of hissing noises, actually. He looked around and realized that he was surrounded by what appeared to be thousands of yellow-armored beings, but they looked nothing like him despite sharing the same armor color. They looked something like snakes mounted on h

BIONICLE: The Legend Imploded - Preview #5

Two days to go until the release of BIONICLE: The Legend Imploded. And as I promised yesterday, here is the fifth preview, showcasing an excerpt from Chapter 5:     “Um, I dunno, man,” said Takanuva. “I mean, I think so, but . . . I dunno, man.”   “All we need to do is find the golden armor piece and we’ll leave,” Gresh said as he stopped hopping and skipping. “I was here once in Grand Di-Shogun Land.”   “Really?” said Takanuva. “When was that?”   Gresh frowned. “You know, I can’t seem to rememb

Back on the Hunt, it seems

Yesterday on this blog I mentioned that I had a job interview with UPS, which was supposed to be today at 11:30 AM. Thing is, the interview was to take place in a town about an hour and a half away from where I lived, which by itself isn't a problem, as I have been to that particular town before, so I simply left around 9:40 to give myself plenty of time to get there in case of unexpected delays or whatever.   The problem came when I tried to figure out where the UPS center was. I tried Google m

BIONICLE: The Legend Imploded - Preview #4

Only three days to go until the release of my upcoming comedy, BIONICLE: The Legend Imploded. In the meantime, why don't you check out this hilarious preview? It might give you a couple of giggles at least, so here is the preview from Chapter 5:   “I say we go left,” said Likus. “Left scares me,” Tera said. “So we go right. Then again, going right scares me, too.” “If you’re afraid of going right, why do you want to go right?” said Likus. “Because conforming to other peoples’ opinions sc

Job Interview

Earlier today I applied for a part-time position as a Driver Helper at UPS, thinking it might be fun but not expecting anything to come out of it (as all my other job applications at other comapnies have thus far been either ignored or rejected outright).   But about half an hour ago, UPS called me and said that I will have a job interview at 11:30 AM tomorrow for the position I applied for. I'm surprised but pleased at how quickly they got back to me.   This is going to be my first job intervie

BIONICLE: The Legend Imploded - Preview #3

In four days, BIONICLE: The Legend Imploded will be coming to the Comedies forum. In the meantime, however, here is the third preview, an excerpt from Chapter 4:   “So, where is this golden armor piece we’re supposed to be after?” said Tahu. “Oris, you have the map Mata Nui gave us, right?” Oris nodded, but his head was shivering so badly that he nodded several times. “Y-Yeah. H-Here it i-is.” Oris pulled the map out of his bag -- quite a feat, considering Oris’s arms were frozen to his si

BIONICLE: The Legend Imploded - Preview #2

It's time for Preview #2 of my soon-to-be released comedy, BIONICLE: The Legend Imploded, which is coming out in six days on Saturday, December 1st. Here is today's preview, from Chapter 5:   “So do we even know the location of the golden armor piece we're looking for?” said Kiina as she and Ackar walked. “Or are we just gonna wander around for days and get nowhere?” “I know where we’re going,” Ackar said as they walked. “Or, um, actually, I don’t. But I’m sure we’ll find it. The plot demand

BIONICLE: The Legend Imploded - Preview #1

I don't know how many people are aware of this, but exactly one week from today, on Saturday, December 1st, I will post the final comedy in the Legend Trilogy, BIONICLE: The Legend Imploded (TLI).   To build up to its release in the Comedies fourm, I will be posting one preview a day starting today and going on through December 1st. Each preview will feature a short excerpt from TLI itself, which should hopefully garner more interest in it or at least give y'all a few giggles at any rate.   And

NaNoWriMo (Again), Thanksgiving, and Nostalgia

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Americans. I'm going to spend the day with my family, eating turkey, ham, and pumpkin pie, as usual. Won't be eating until later in the day, though, because my oldest brother doesn't get off work until later in the afternoon, but I can wait for turkey and ham (I think ).   Also, for those of you who care, today I successfully hit the 50k mark on my NaNo novel/fanfic, Dawn of the New Century. So I won for the fifth year running, which doesn't surprise me because I

Who do I write like?

Recently I have discovered this delightful little website called I Write Like. You basically paste an excerpt of your writing - blog posts, journey entries, comments, chapters of novels, short stories, poems, whatever - and the website tells you which famous writer you write like.   The best part about this website is that you can do it over and over again, having it analyze excerpts of your writing from different stories. This I did and got different results almost every time. Here's the full l
