To A Little Nation

This is going to be patriotic, but it's necessary, IMO.   At least two centuries ago, a small island in the South China Sea was found.   Fast forward to the twentieth century, and the island has grown. It gained independence, like how the United States of America had the Declaration of Independence signed and recognised.   Fast forward 42 years from its independence, and you'd find that Singapore is thriving as a successful world hub in the year 2007.     So, what I really mean to say is:

Gathering The Gershwin...

...big book by big book.   Y'see, after my friend treated me for lunch as a birthday treat, I headed over to our country's arts-dedicated library for one sole reason.   *Pretend you didn't read the above first phrase*   The second 'Y'see' I have to tell you is that even though I'm in holidays for two weeks, there is no rest for the student laden with assignments.   And when one assignment requires you to research on a composer of choice - a classical composer of choice - and it was too diffi

Sweet Sabotage! A Female Sarcasm Chick-flick!

May I warn all of you: Don't take the movie 'The Devil Wears Prada' too seriously, and with many pinches of salt for the femme audience!   There was something all too obvious for me when I watched the movie. I tell you, I was adamant about watching a chick flick. However, when ol' Daddy said he was watching too, the in-house movie critic, I hopped onto the bandwagon.   I was so happy I watched the movie.   There's no need for me to write out a summary of the movie. You go watch it when you ca

Please Share Some Wisdom...

I have a rather bad dental problem. After wearing head-gear, braces, and now retainers, the wisdom teeth have come in. The least I can say is that one came out right. The rest came out, well, wrong. Wisdom on the Upper Left came out perfectly natural, matching with the rest of my teeth. Upper Right is half-in half-out, and no intention of moving out anymore except there. Bottom Left is half-tooth half-gum, meaning that gum infection's likely going to make my jaw hurt like mad, and Bottom Right i

Suteki Da Ne - And All That Jap-jazz

Maybe you all can help me stop brooding about this bit of life's ironical trivia.   Right now, there's an obessesion around the world about one particular culture - Japanese culture. Cultures maybe, seeing as it branches off into more categories than I have fingers.   As far as I know, it's literally taking the world by storm. My friend, who digs anime and manga, got me a Death Note notebook as a present (I didn't tell you about that, did I?), I love Japanese cuisine to bits, I do know some an

Top Student Syndrome

When you sit on the top seat, no one will let you get off it.   No, I'm not the top student. I'm not there. I'm a step away from there.   Yet I'm treated like one, while the real one gets away from this scott-free.     The only reason why I excelled over others was probably because I tried my dang hardest, while many of the rest 'shake-leg' and let things take its natural course.   And, as all people who believe in all things good, hard-work paid off.     But the isolation after that was..

Have Too Much Free-time On Bzp?

Don't mind the sudden question, but the Epic Critic Club is in dire need of help. Permanent help, temporary help, any pair of willing eyes, hands and brains.   So, if you're interested, you can reply below and ask me, '<dd>, I wanna help. What can I do?'. If you can't, go ahead and make a note too I guess.   Popping quickly in and out. Hopefully will get some help somehow.   -<dd>

The Saga Ends

My grandmother has passed away peacefully - just as we hoped.   I've just survived the harrowing graveyard shift, watching over the premises of the wake site and all the flower wreaths. Staying up all night and not partying is not so fun, but the remaining relatives who stayed behind as well made good chat - until I K.O.ed halfway through the conversation.   I'm fine, and am providing support for my family as well. I'm past the bereavement stage, and I hope things can get back to norm soon.

Taming Of The Bore

That was the challenge given to me, and it was tough.   Y'see, I have my next school assessment coming up: a public performance.   Yep. Right. Next Wednesday.   A public performance.   The hub of the arts in this country (look up the Esplanade if you're interested in depth-knowledge) had a conveniently-placed cafe in the library, and it had conveniently provided a little stage, complete with a digital piano.   When our group of merry students made a trip to that library to handle our assign

Graduation!

My company had a photoshoot for the boss who's getting married this December, and offered to take some fun graduation pictures for me. Here's one, hehe.     Gosh, graduation was so fun! Part of the fun was because I was, remarkably, the top of my course. *bragbragbrag* So that got me a few awards and a bit more money too! On top of that, I was one of two valedictorian speakers! Well, I was the reserve at the end of the day, but the other guy got all the fuss and stress while I sat behind him an

Happpyyy!

Hohoho, what has taken a hold of me the past few posts? It looks like I'm on a Sad Keanu roll, but it seriously is depressing. XD   Right, time to plaster a huge smile on my face and be HAPPPYYY!!! And I kid you not, I'm mostly sugar and spice all the time, not Ms. Josey Raincloud.     I've met a share of people who seem to have immovable smiles. They're what I call 'sunshine boys and girls', and I'll throw in laughter - very strong and addictive laughter - in for good measure. How they get

Transformers 2...

I saw it yesterday.   I almost cried.   » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «Not because Optimus Prime died again.  But because...   MICHAEL BAY! You killed my childhood!! Oooh, Username!

Heeheehee.   I'm sure we're aware that the staff/Moderating Crew are getting their names constantly...renamed. By really fun themes.   But I burst out laughing when I found Omi as Unicron.   And Janus as Laserbeak.   And HH as Moonracer.   And Dr. B as Wheeljack.   Who are the rest? I want to see more Transformers around here! XD   (For those not in the know, I am a TF fan too. Wrote some fanfics for it too, mostly of the humour genre. Kee!)   (And for those not in the know, my holiday

A Starting Point

The girl stared at the large doors that stood before her. They towered over her, a pair of sentinels to whatever lands the doors barred her from, deterring any thought of making a clear path through.   She was young, though not too young. People have labelled her a girl, and a lady. She did not like either at this point in time. Neither might, no, would have the strength to heave those foreboding doors ajar.   She probably could. She had build, if she had to say anything about herself first. S

Tap Tap Tap

Slowly but surely, the weary girl trudged along, surprisingly ahead of the companion who was with her, but it was no real surprise if the companion was your grandmother.   "The place is closed! The door's closed!"   The girl looked up at her grandmother's Mandarin comment, her head slightly bobbing at the door. The clinic was closed, wasn't it?   Oh no, she saw the crop of some nurse's head bob around through the glass panel on that door.   She hated the clinic, but she could not dismiss

It's Here!

Since I'm not married, here're a pair of virtual hongbaos! What's inside - well, chocolate gold coins are what I can offer.   Gong Xi Fa Cai! It's the year of the Rat, the start of the whole Zodiac Calendar, and let me wish you all:   Ping An Ru Shi: Safety through the year and the situations they bring.   Nian Nian You Yu: Surpluses and excessive bounty in every year.   Xin/Meng Xiang Shi Chen: The realization of your heart's/mind's wishes.   Sheng Ti Jian Kang: A healthy and strong body.

Photoshop Madness

When I step into deviantart, a bombload of pictures greet me. Nearly all of them have one thing in common.   They all have been processed through a high-end digital image renderer of some sort. It could've been Painter, or MS Paint (for dot-dot pics), or what I've just acquired - Photoshop.   My twin discovered my recent upgrade of personal technology gadgetz, and we went a little crazy with some slipshot work.   Pic 1   Then we found an old picture.   Pic 2   Then I plucked up a little co

Berklee Dreaming

So all the hype and hoobla of me going to Berklee is dying down. Good - I haven't been giving that much thought, anyway, because I've been running from school to school, placating kids and admonishing kids - all in a day's work.   But last night brought the whole incident back into thought.   I had a really 'bad' dream about Berklee.   I was already in Berklee. In fact, I was in a classroom in Berklee, doing a proficiency test or interview - it was not very clear. What I did know was that a r

Money-making Opportunity?

There was once a time when my whole family was in a LEGO craze - at least for my brother and me. The BIONICLE sets (Olda and Nuva) came, and went. My brother made a horrible MOC of Gali Olda with brown arms, green legs, a clawed foot and 6 arms with weapons attached to her chest. I dismantled that piece before the nightmares could start.   There were other pieces too - some Technics parts (and I don't recall any of those!), some rather old LEGO parts (you know, the City kind and the old ones th

Gimme A Break

School hasn't been lenient on me. It's the start of a two-week break - and a heavy mugging with 7 assignments due when I return!!   Yet, I really do miss doing all the stuff I did on BZP. Blogging's one of them, and it's been sporadic. Writing - I haven't touched a thing for two months. I've a record of only one critic review for the past 2 months.   So... rather than stuffing myself to death with the assignments, I plan to do a little visit and actually do something here. Sometime soon. When

Girl Power?

This phrase is reknown to almost everyone, be it one gender or the other.   But does it really exist?   I questioned this when a strange little activity occurred.   In the DJ club at poly, the girl population made up 5% of the club's total tally. The club had to split into several sub-groups, so orders were that each girl had to join each sub-group because it was conveniently placed that the number of sub-groups equalled the number of girl members.   I was put into Publicity - just as the af

18

In exactly 25 minutes from now, it would be the 18th anniversary of the day my mother landed herself with a pair of twins, namely my sister and me.   In other words, it'd be my 18th birthday.   I can't tell you how hyped I am, because I'm really hyped now!

Ss Blooming

Does anyone see that the Short Stories section of the Library is having a lot, and I mean a lot, of new short stories?   The poor Short Story critics would be in quite a fix, I tell you.   But that leaves the Epic section to go on with its curent stuff. Expected this is, for I long foretold of the short one-post stories gain support because of its one-post-edness.   But that means that now's a good time for those who are active in the Epics section to brush up on their writing skills! I know

Coming And Going

I took the train down to the airport to pick up my twin sis. She returned from a school literature trip in England - and I could not wait to hear what news she had to bring.   When she finally came down, she was one of the last few to collect her bags. The teachers gave a de-brief, and she was one of the first few who walked out of the arrival area.   You could imagine what she had to face when, after a long flight from Europe to Asia, she had to endure a heavy glomp from her not-so-light sist

Know Your Bionicle

I must honestly admit that at the Voya Nui saga, I totally lost track of what was happening. All I knew were of Piraka, Matoran becoming Toa, and somehow two Titans from the Order of Mata Nui and the Brotherhood of Makuta - though an Umbra appeared somewhere and disappeared.   And for Mahri Nui, the Toa transform into new bodies and become Toa Mahri, and we get yellow to replace brown. There's a yellow Matoran, Dekar, green Defilak - two instead of six, and six Barraki - and a freakish creature
