School Game On Restart

I am back in school, dealing with a five hour break.   Meanwhile, I've little else to say but: 'Where did the holidays go?!'   -<dd>

Scholastic Issues

This is more of a mental note to myself than anything else, and more so as a self-note to stop wallowing in worry.   1) I got a call yesterday, and it came from the polytechnic. I qualified for the second diploma, and now have the choice of accepting the diploma or rejecting it.   I've been ordered to accept it, and I'm interested in it. In short, I'm going to accept it. If all goes well and I balance my time properly, I may just graduate with two diplomas in my bag.   Only if I properly hand

Roach Saga

Act 1:   It started when I stepped out of the girls' bedroom last Friday. I had barely closed the door behind me when something tapped against my leg, and landed on a pile of boxes next to the door.   I had a better look at it - and jumped back in shock.   It was a cockroach.   I stepped back. My other sister, however, had a better reaction - she screamed and shut herself in the master bedroom.   I looked for something to kill that roach with, but before I could grab the letter knife the ro

Relations

I was thinking to myself a while back: Funny how many of the staff were, in ways, uncles/aunts/godfathers/don't know about godmothers...   And a few others who were not staff but were, in ways, uncles/aunts/godfathers...   Then I landed on the big question: How old are we?     All right, sorry to the staff but some of them are of proper age to be an uncle.   But I know that there are others who are around my age, and only a few years older for some.   And we're already someone's uncle/aunt

Random Rant

Right now, I’m dealing with (and I do mean dealing with) my short story ‘Autumn Leaves’ right now, sprucing it up after adding length and content to it, by recommendation of the writing club. They want to chop that bit of lit (short for ‘literature’) into fine, tiny-tiny pieces and inspect how to write a short story.   It feels so good to be a role model.   In fact, the cruel irony to me is that music was given to me by others; scale after scale and note after note, and any piece I wanted to

Racing

1) Against the Machine   Today was a big day for me (What a way to start a blog post. ); I was going horseriding! In a place of scarce land and resources, owning a horse was a real luxury. Furthermore, it was really expensive to get the horse itself. I used to go riding for a while, but when my favourite horse died and the prices escalated, I stopped and forgot about it.   So when a holiday course, subsidised to a fair amount by the polytechnic, was offered, I hopped at the chance.   But fir

Post 100

I celebrated it with a full out luxurious Chinese meal, and loved it. Ooh... there was freshwater fish steamed with ginger (my fave!!!), salted chicken, drunken prawns, ee-fu noodles, scallop with vegetables, abalone and sea cucumber with more vegetables, and honeydew pudding with sago and pomelo.   It was in conjuction with my GPA score celebrations. Face it, as much as I would work on my school year, it may never get as high as that. May. I will strive for the best that I can do.     Anothe

Please Share Some Wisdom...

I have a rather bad dental problem. After wearing head-gear, braces, and now retainers, the wisdom teeth have come in. The least I can say is that one came out right. The rest came out, well, wrong. Wisdom on the Upper Left came out perfectly natural, matching with the rest of my teeth. Upper Right is half-in half-out, and no intention of moving out anymore except there. Bottom Left is half-tooth half-gum, meaning that gum infection's likely going to make my jaw hurt like mad, and Bottom Right i

Play! Video Game Symphony

It rocked. Our orchestra sucks (the pipe organist flunked) and the choir was too strong to be miked, but it rocked.   Listening to 'One-Winged Angel' for the first time, Legend of Zelda, Halo, World of Warcraft, Super Mario Brothers, the Revenge of Shinobi (I wonder who remembers that), Daytona USA and more... wow. Video game music is another industry that I eye (along with other coursemates), and this is the deserving right and justice to the wonderful songs behind each game. Not only does one

Picture Speak

Pictures speak a thousand words. I found a particular picture that carried two.   A good hint: This was found in the hospital.             The answer?   Fall precaution.

Photoshop Madness

When I step into deviantart, a bombload of pictures greet me. Nearly all of them have one thing in common.   They all have been processed through a high-end digital image renderer of some sort. It could've been Painter, or MS Paint (for dot-dot pics), or what I've just acquired - Photoshop.   My twin discovered my recent upgrade of personal technology gadgetz, and we went a little crazy with some slipshot work.   Pic 1   Then we found an old picture.   Pic 2   Then I plucked up a little co

Phantom Of The Opera

I have finally achieved a goal in life.   I watched Phantom of the Opera.   And I'm now a Phan. Brad Little was the best singer, overall. I finally saw why the movie version was critically slammed, and why a year of waiting for that show paid off.   I'm a very happy girl.

Percolation

One more week. One more week of these boring, miserable holidays and I'm going back to school and getting on with a life.   But, it's rare that one can wake up late in the morning, not worrying about being late, and enjoying some lukewarm Chinese tea while reading up and working on reviews.   It's all for a good mood - rare to come by once poly kick-starts.   It's good time to percolate on what one did the previous week, and to see if there's anything more to do for the current week.   But

Packing Up

The performance went all-right. The mistakes I made weren't too obvious, thank goodness. The teacher-singer I had enlisted as my partner in crime did a splendid rendition of 'Girl From Ipanema' to 'Boy From Ipanema' in English and Portugese.   But, that aside, I'm heading to the US on Monday - and arriving on Northwest-American soil on Monday. No thanks to the Greenwich line and the Median line (My geography is rusty), I may suffer from serious jetlag when I return (next Wednesday), and I fores

Ounces Of Life

When the doctor mentioned the awful words, I couldn't help but look at him with alarm.   I was sick again - the morning in school went fine, but when I got queasy in the afternoon, it demanded medical attention.   And, lo behold, the doctor thought I need a blood test.       I have a really nice phobia of needles. Hated those things ever since I saw something long, thin, silver and pointy poke me when I was young. That memory never died.   When the doctor further elaborated, with the words

Oooh, Username!

Heeheehee.   I'm sure we're aware that the staff/Moderating Crew are getting their names constantly...renamed. By really fun themes.   But I burst out laughing when I found Omi as Unicron.   And Janus as Laserbeak.   And HH as Moonracer.   And Dr. B as Wheeljack.   Who are the rest? I want to see more Transformers around here! XD   (For those not in the know, I am a TF fan too. Wrote some fanfics for it too, mostly of the humour genre. Kee!)   (And for those not in the know, my holiday

Omgosh My Gpa!

I was absolutely nervous when my email alert bleeped. I had asked my semester results to be mailed to me, but I was worried that it may not have been a good choice for my poor senses.   But I shouldn't have worried.   GPA: 3.94.     I flipped.   4 As, and 4 Distinctions. I couldn't believe it. YAY!!!!!

Oh No, It's May! Part 2

Part 2, ladies and gentlemen, and we are in full swing.   Rehearsals for the concert have begun, and we are in slick motion. The trio keyboard ensemble was created quickly and we headed off once the group was made.   The Pirates of the Carribean Medley has been composed on the spot - just a simple glue-in of Jack Sparrow, Davy Jones, and a few nice tidbits from the first movie. All in the name to promote the third installment that comes out two days after the concert and remind the graduates o

Oh No, It's May!

I have good reason to panic.   You see, this is the month where a really big performance is going to happen. Our entire music course has been roped in to perform at the Graduation Concert - not a formal concert, but a background music crew as everyone eats cheap tidbits catered free to the participants and everyone takes photos of their classmates in graduation garb, yadda and dadda.   They forget what goes on behind the scenes.   Our cohort is the only cohort creating gigs for this performan

Office Zombie

Nothing gets to me worse than being an office zombie. Sure, I can think of worse things to bug me but being an office zombie bugs me.   Three of five days of the week were spent in an office, cold and chilly no thanks to the central air-conditioning system and monotonous in flow.   It's a fact that often, office job holders get a big lot of cash and their temporary staff too.   I decided to give it a go.   For the record, I've timed, in 3 days, a little more than 15 hours. They charge a good

Off To Berklee

I just realized that BZPower's back. Am I very late in this news? I'm sure I am!   Well, the period the board went offline was as long as I needed to get ready to go. I'm heading over to Boston - tonight! On the AirBus A380 no less!   Yet, I feel many pinches of sadness about the people I'm leaving behind: Family, especially the old folks, my wonderful boyfriend (we're going to make this LDR work!), and the friends I've made through secondary school and polytechnic. And, of course, Lucky. I f

Of Makeovers And Fashion - What?

A good friend of Mum's was chosen for a makeover on this lady-talkshow - and timely on the same episode about fashion. Mum went, and I followed her.   I don't think I should've. I finally understood why people say that 'if you're in fashion, you're glamarous - or you're insane'.   It was something like the Tyra Banks Show - just with a smaller capacity of audience. The wonders of camera angles from six cameras made our thirty-odd audience look like the whole studio's entire capacity.   And an

Ode To A Year Gone By

My birthday just had to lie in a time where I was flooded with work - 9 assignments, gasp! - and was stressed to a breaking point.   The general wisdom is that, it's your birthday, it should be a happy day, you should be happy - others are telling you to have a 'Happy Birthday', aye? - but, I don't really feel it.   I felt spent and tired. The gifts did help - got a bottle of Estee 'Super Eau de Parfum' from my mum, a Queen CD from my sister, a tube of seaweed bath gel from a friend of Mum's,

Nyeh-nyeh

I'm bored. And when I get bored, I have my own fare of fun.   The really bad kind where it comes out, apropros of nothing, and all in the sake of seeing your reaction.     Now, let's get get down to me becoming the shill of the quotidian affairs of the local people's lunches. Exotic lunches to you, but the local fare for me.   Yes, I'm grinning. Evilly? I don't know.   Today, my grandmother brought me to Chinatown to have lunch with her. She knew a restaurant that had cheap but great chicke

Now With Some Booty

Warning: Bragging up ahead   Ye've been warned.       Today's a good day.   Today, I got richer.     My grandmother shoved me the job of packing all my Bionicle sets up in preparations of the Big Move to a temporary home while my current house gets a total overhaul.   While looking for stray pieces (and I found myself in an MOCist's dreamland) in the set boxes, I shook my Boggorak case.   There was a familiar rattle.   Unscrewing the cap off, I discovered a horde (mind the pun) of coins a
