New Feature?

Black Six

Shhh, this is a secret. You guys are the first to hear about this, because I trust you for some honest feedback.

Before the upgrade there was a 'Gallery' link that people always asked us questions about. The feature was never turned on, mainly because we were worried that hosting images on BZPower would adversely affect the performance of the site (even more). Things have changed, and now we have a new server and fewer active members.

What would you think if BZPower had a gallery where you could post pictures of your MOCs, artwork, and other LEGO-related things? And what would you think if normal Members could post a certain number of images and Premier Members could post more? Would you use it? Would you keep using Brickshelf/Maj/Flickr? Would you upgrade to a Premier Membership for more pictures?

I'm really interested to hear what you all think...

Hmmm. Well, I for one would definitely continue to use MOCpages mostly. It would be nice to have a button on the post edit toolbar to upload images directly. Linking to them gets tedious when you MOC has a lot of pictures. I think allowing commenting on images would be a bad idea, after all, that's what the forums are for. But having the images link to the appropriate topic and being able to browse through artwork, MOCs, comics and the like in a communal gallery would be neat and, I think, expose the pictures alot more. It would probably increase activity in picture-oriented forums. Not to mention always having the images available even when other hosting sites are down.

I am not sure if I would use the gallery as I don´t post any MOC or art topics, but I think it would be a good idea. I am not sure if it would increase traffic, but it would be a great compilation of the art and creations that are posted on BZPower. A limit to the number of images a member can post would make little sense, though, as activity would greatly decrease after a certain point. A limit to the file size or image dimensions would be a good idea and a higher set limit would be a good Premier perk, though.

I support the IDEA of it, but considering how many new members there are that are posting completely random stuff, I think it would slow the site.

I'd vote no.

I would use it, especially if as a premier get even more out of it. Not having to go to brick shelf and upload every time I made a new....whatever...usually it's something I made with a bionicle sprite maker.

That would be great. And I'd probably use it for the occasional banner I'm sure to make.
