Megan Fox Joins 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'

After pushing production to do more work on the script, Paramount's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" reboot looks back on track as the studio has tapped Megan Fox to star as April O'Neil.

Jonathan Liebesman will direct with Michael Bay producing through his Platinum Dunes banner. Michael Bay tweeted the news on his blog.

Original 1984 Mirage Studios' comicbook "TMNT" centered on four turtles who are turned humanoid through contact with radioactive slime, and trained in martial arts by their humanoid rat master. Bay stirred controversy with fans of the comicbook-based franchise when he said the reimagined series would have alien elements.

The reason for the original delay was because the filmmakers and studio felt they wouldn't be ready for a October 2012 shoot date.

Prior to the holidays, the studio began meeting with actresses such as Jane Levy, Anna Kendrick and Elizabeth Olsen and the studio will now aim to find its male lead.

The studio, Bay and Fox have a relationship going back to when the two worked together on the first two "Transformer" films.

Michael Bay is not a man

HE IS A MONSTER

I had an interesting conversation with a friend about this, actually. PREDICTIONS!:

Kovian Exa says
Yeah.
Megan Fox to star in Michael Bay's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
....

Taylor says
Yeah...
No.
Who is she?
April?

Kovian Exa says
Probably.
Doesn't matter.

Taylor says
No.
She cannot be April.

Kovian Exa says
It's like all of the horror is coming together.
Unfortunately, she probably will be.
NO WAIT
She won't be April, she'll be the hot, new news reporter on the scene who falls for Leonardo but also has a thing for Donny and Raph.
And is secretly seeing Mike.
Whilst publicly dating Casey, who will not be Shia Lebeouf.
also shredder is an alien probably.
An alien who EXPLODES WHEN HE DIES YEEEEAH

Taylor says
Shredder being an alien is kind of okay becuase he was an alien at one point.
Kovian Exa says
true.
You know what
I actually can't wait for this movie.
Especially if all of those twists are actually thrown in.
:P
It's working title will be "TRAINWRECK--ON EXPLOSIONS"
... I can't even tell if I'm being sarcastic anymore....
This scares me.

Taylor says
Lol

Calling it now. This is the plot of Michael Bay's TMNT.

I'm not a Megan Fox hater, honestly, but nor am I a Megan Fox fan -- I was leery of the new TMNT back when I only knew Michael Bay was involved, and this news changes almost nothing. :P

Actually.... reading that line; it makes me wonder. Has there actually been any confirmation that the turtles are the aliens? It sounds like there's going to be elements, but perhaps not a full blown alien presence, which there would be if the turtles were aliens.

Perhaps the antagonists are the aliens? Wouldn't be the first time it's happened in a TMNT series, like the cartoon from a while back, which had an entire arc based off going to space or other worlds or something. It's been a while.

I'm mostly confused because I thought Bay and Fox hated each other.
No that was Steven Spielberg who got mad at Fox because she compared Speilberg to hitler. He was able to kick her off because Speilberg was the executive producer. With Spielberg gone Bay can hire her not that she'll add anything new to the project.

Honestly she can't act she's good looking yes but can't act. Also Platnium Dunes makes horror flick remakes the most note able being the abysmally bad Nightmare on Elm Street remake. So that will most likely raise confidence levels. Michael Bay killer of all things quality.

Right...Completely forgetting the fact that the TMNT would have made perfectly adequate lead characters in a movie about the TMNT. Man, I'm not even a TMNT fan and that irritates the heck out of me. Looks like someone didn't learn from his Transformers mistakes.

See...I'd actually go so far as to dispute even that...

Shia Lebeouf is on the way, and he's playing either a new character who'll steal the spotlight or all four 'turtles.'

Calling it now.

I hope you mean the dignity of the movie is gone, and not the dignity of the franchise as a whole. Terribly unfaithful adaptations are hardly a death blow to a franchise-- just look at Super Mario Bros., which re-imagined the Mushroom Kingdom as a cyberpunk dystopia. Despite being completely different in tone from the series it was based on, it's still somewhat entertaining both in terms of its many shout-outs and its sheer audacity, and meanwhile has been more or less ignored by subsequent Super Mario Bros. media.

So all in all, if this TMNT movie is good, it'll be a pleasant surprise to a lot of people, and if it's bad, it will probably just be a forgettable footnote within the greater context of the franchise.

well it's obvious somebody had a cruddy childhood

It's obvious to me everyone else was watching a VERY different TMNT than me.

Most people don't know this, because Bay and Paramount were quick to sweep it under the rug, but a script leaked sometime last year. And it's even worse than you could imagine: Not only are the turtles aliens, but also master Splinter and even Shredder. In fact, the entire script is pretty much a point-by-point rehash of Bayformers, right down to the main focus being the humans (specifically, Casey Jones and April O Neil), and the non-human characters (specifically, the flipping Turtles) being nothing more than CGI extras.

In other words, if this movie does end up being released and makes a ton of money, to the point that mainstream audiences associate "TMNT" mainly with Michael Bay's production, Bay will have effectively destroyed the entire franchise.

I didn't even know they were making a film!

TMNT:BTTS was bad enough, I know the current series makes BTTS look awesome, but a movie?!

I'm gonna go cry my childhood away now.

As long as he stays away from Pokemon.

Very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very far away from Pokemon.

...Megan Fox as Misty.

Oh my goodness. I -- I don't even want to think about it.
