Lego Island

SPIRIT

"Helloooooooo! Hola, velcomen, bienvenue, konichiwa, aloha, how you doin'?, yo, and in any language, welcome to LEGO Island!"

*nostalgic sniffle*

Ah, the good old days...

So I just figured out how to get the game working on my computer and oh the memories. :crying: It's actually a little startling how far graphics have come along since the 90s and laughable at how cutting edge this game once was. All the same, it's still loads of fun. Granted, I've lost some of my manoeuvring talent over the past decade, but I still managed to get a red or a blue in every race (and I remember when my whole score cube was red...).

I also got some of the jokes that just whipped over my head as a kid. Like Dr. Clickitt's comment about being on the golf course while I drive the ambulance and then wondering where the golf course actually is.

I saved the island from the Brickster too for like the billionth time. You'd think they'd have figured out pizza-resistant locks by now. I only lost a few buildings on that one and did considerably better than my early attempts way back in the day when stopping him was just beyond my arrow key pressing dexterity.

Now I have all the game music stuck in my head. Not that that's a bad thing, but it sure does bring back the memories...

Great, now I need to go figure out how to reinstall it on my computer just by reading this entry. :P

That game was my entire childhood for, like, two years. It still has yet to get old.

Ahh. I wish I could get that and every other old LEGO game I have working.

I had trouble catching Brickster in the first one though; I couldn't get myself to aim the donuts and pizza just right.

Now you've got me wanting my old computer back. *cough*stupidlightningstrike*cough* :P

A year ago I booted up most of the Lego games. Lego Racers, Lego Racers 2, Lego Island, Lego Island 2, and Lego Island Extreme Stunts. Now I feel like playing them again.

My LEGO Island Extreme Stunts was defective and would never load. :(

Mine worked originally, but once I got 100% for the first time, that happened.

Last year I got around to installing Island (and my other old Lego games) and playing it all over again. Maaaan, that game has so many memories for me. I grew up with all those games!

I used to play Lego Loco obsessively trying to make either the perfect town, or the most cow and rabbit-infested town in the entire world, as well as trap cars in those little yard things so they beep to their little engines' content.

I think I found every single Easter Egg that existed in that game... Before I knew about web sites that tell you all of them, that is.

"We gotta have this..."

"...and this!"

"Don't forget the shark!"

"I hope there's room for the tree!"

"And what do we do if it's hot outside?"

"What if we have to mail a letter?"

Yeah, Lego Loco was a good one too. I think I only ever managed to send one of those post cards to a real person on the Internet.

I didn't care much for LEGO Loco. I couldn't get online to try to play it with someone, and so all I could do was crash trains all day.

I only just within the past, oh, 6 months-ish got LEGO Racers 1 & 2 as well as LEGO Island 1 & 2. I managed to unlock everything in Racers and I managed to beat number two dispite I was using a computer that didn't run it very well. Actually, it seemed like if I didn't have my windows media player running, it lagged. o_O

Beat LEGO Island 2 with my little brother. Man those are some loooong load times.

But I have not yet tried Island 1. I'd seen parts of it long ago before I moved at a neighbors house, though most memory of it escapes me. It wouldn't work for the longest time, but then I just found I needed to download a .dll file from the net. It works now but I've been far to busy playing TF2, Combat Arms, KOTOR, and other such to even start a game.

Maybe I'll have to do that later today if I get such a whim...

*is sadder* Yeah, that's a real problem. It seems it's all us-people-who-don't-mind-what-other-people-see-as-childishness-in-BIONICLE are the ones who wish wecould still play relatively silly games like LEGO Island.

Maybe that means I'm childish. :P
